Easy DIY Waterproof Makeup Remover

As you know, I love to wear makeup, and I love it when my make up stays where I want it to until I decide to take it off.  

There are so many awesome long wear and waterproof products on the market.  The downside to long lasting and waterproof makeup is removing it, removing it that is without removing all your skin or eyelashes in the process.

There are many great makeup removers on the market.  The downside to these makeup removers is not only the chemicals, but sometimes the price tag.  I have been making my own makeup remover for about 2 years now and it only costs me about $3* for 8 oz.  A little goes a long way and 8 oz will last you a long time.

Easy DIY Makeup Remover

All you need for this Easy DIY Makeup Remover is
-one empty  8 oz travel sized container
-grape seed  oil (or olive oil)
-witch hazel**
-a measuring cup
-a funnel.

How to Make the Easy DIY Makeup Remover

1.) Measure half a cup of grapeseed oil (or olive oil)

2.) Use the funnel to pour the oil into the empty 8 oz travel container.

3.) Measure half a cup of witch hazel.

(If you only have a 4 oz travel container use 1/4 cup of each grapeseed oil and witch hazel.  If your container is 6  oz then you will put 1/3 of a cup of each.)

4.) Use the funnel to pour the witch hazel into the 8 oz travel container with the oil.

5.) Put the cover onto the 8 oz container tightly

6.) Shake well before each use, the oil and witch hazel will separate.

7.) Pour a small amount onto a cotton round. Start removing your makeup quickly and easily!

The reason I like to use Grape seed oil instead of olive oil is that it is thinner and doesn’t feel as thick on the skin.  Grape seed oil is also packed with antioxidants, including skin-brightening vitamin C.  It has also been said to help treat acne, fight aging, moisturize, and tighten the skin, as well as lessen dark circles under the eyes.

There are also so  many skin benefits of witch hazel. It has both antibacterial and antiseptic qualities.  Witch hazel is a great natural remedy for skin conditions like psoriasis, acne, and eczema. Witch hazel help remove excess oil from the skin, making it effective at treating blackheads and other blemishes.

*At around $2 for a 16 oz bottle of witch hazel and around $8-10 for 16 oz of grapeseed oil, 8 oz of makeup remover will end up costing you around $3, (plus the cost of your empty bottle if you don’t already have one).

**Witch Hazel is safe to use in small amounts around the eyes.

LookingJoligood.wordpress.comHello!  My name is Laura Joli.  If you are like me, you are always busy and love it! It seems as if time keeps moving faster and faster and never slows down at all.

As a mother of two young children, I spend a lot of time doing things for other people. It often feels as if I don’t have a lot of time to myself. Despite the business and demands of the day, there is one thing that I try to always make a little time for and that is looking joli good.

Isn’t it amazing how sometimes something as simple as putting on lipstick or nail polish or especially a good hair day can make you feel like a brand new person?!

Looking and feeling good doesn’t have to be some thing that takes up a lot of time either.  Often it is the simple little things that can help one to feel better.  I always find that smiling is one the easiest things to do to look and feel joli good!  To quote Thich Nhat Hanh “Sometimes your joy is the source of your smile, but sometimes your smile can be the source of your joy.”
