I have chin length, very straight, somewhat thin/fine hair (which is the main reason I keep it short).  My hair is also more on the oily side, therefore, I have to wash it every day.  All that being said, that doesn’t mean that I never use dry shampoo.  I just use it for a completely different reason.

My tip for today is to use dry shampoo to add volume your hair.

Holding the can about 6-8 inches away from my head, I section apart my clean dry hair and spray the dry shampoo at the roots. I let it dry while I do my makeup and then style my hair as usual.  The only difference is that I have a lot of added volume!  Also, my hair doesn’t really hold much of a style, but if I spray it with dry shampoo first I can get a better curl or tease.

Remember last week I told you about my tip for concealing your blemishes? Well, this week’s tip has to do with blemishes as well.  Instead of concealing, I’m going to tell you what I do to heal them faster.

If you are a mother you probably already have this product on hand…

I’m talking about diaper rash cream!

Zinc Oxide which is usually the main ingredient in diaper rash creams is great for spot treating acne breakouts as well.  What Zinc Oxide does to helps protect, dry, and soothe little irritated baby bums, it also does for acne breakouts. When I have a breakout, after following my usual nightly facial cleaning routine, I apply a small amount of Zinc Oxide cream to the effected area.

I prefer Boudreaux’s Butt Paste (in the red tube, not the yellow one), and not just because its name is super fun to say, but also because it has the highest percentage of Zinc Oxide in it.

I remember when I was in high school one of my friends said to me, “Wow, you are amazing at concealing your zits.  You can’t even tell that they are there!” I remember thinking, isn’t that the point, haha!  That brings me to todays tip…

When applying concealer to a blemish to prevent the area from looking cakey, which in turn drawing more attention to the area, start off lightly and layer as needed. Apply a light layer on top of the area and blend well with your (clean) fingers.  The warmth of your fingers will help the concealer to blend into the skin more naturally.  Be sure to let the concealer dry completely before adding more. Repeat as needed until the area is concealed.  Apply a light layer of transluscent powder over the area in between layers to prevent it from wearing off.

This isn’t my picture. I got it off of google. I don’t actually own this many concealers, but I wish I did…;-)

This weeks tip is short and sweet!  When storing your makeup remover wipes keep them upside down instead of right side up.  This simple change in direction will help to prevent the wipes at the top from drying out while the ones at the bottom remain extra wet and saturated.

This weeks tip is short and sweet!  When applying mascara instead of sweeping upwards, sweep towards your nose. This simple change in direction will not only help make the lashes look fuller but will also make the eyes look larger as well.

When it comes to face makeup, no one wants to have a cake face!!!  Let’s be honest, sometimes it happens despite the best efforts!  This weeks tip can help to cut down on mid day makeup cake up.

When I want to keep my face looking fresh throughout the day I will reapply some loose face powder.  To prevent the powder from becoming cakey on my face, I always blot off the excess oil first.  Doing this simple step will prevent the powder from sticking and clumping to the oil and instead will give you the fresh face you are looking for.

You don’t need special blotting papers or sponges! I find that gently pressing a paper napkin or paper towel to my more oily areas does the trick perfectly.  One of the best paper napkins to use for oil absorption comes from Starbucks!  Those little brown paper napkins do the trick perfectly!  Whenever I am there I grab a handful for my purse.

I HATE chapped lips!!! I cannot even handle when my lips are dry at all!  If you want to exfoliate your lips quickly and easily without using a messy scrub you’ll love this tip…

Simply apply a thick layer of moisturizing lip balm to your lips and let is sit for a good amount of time.  I will usually apply it after I brush my teeth when I first wake up and go about my morning routine.  Then using a clean dry wash cloth, put your finger into the cloth making a little glove over your finger.  Using circular motions rub the balm off your lips exfoliating your lips at the same time.  The texture of the wash cloth will work as an exfoliator without having to use any other product.  Keep in mind that the lips are a very delicate area, so be sure that you don’t rub too hard!

I hope that you enjoyed this tip!
