Easy DIY Waterproof Makeup Remover

As you know, I love to wear makeup, and I love it when my make up stays where I want it to until I decide to take it off.

There are so many awesome long wear and waterproof products on the market.  The downside to long lasting and waterproof makeup is removing it, removing it that is without removing all your skin or eyelashes in the process.

There are many great makeup removers on the market.  The downside to these makeup removers is not only the chemicals, but sometimes the price tag.  I have been making my own makeup remover for about 2 years now and it only costs me about $3* for 8 oz.  A little goes a long way and 8 oz will last you a long time.

Easy DIY Makeup Remover

All you need for this Easy DIY Makeup Remover is
-one empty  8 oz travel sized container
-grape seed  oil (or olive oil)
-witch hazel**
-a measuring cup
-a funnel.

How to Make the Easy DIY Makeup Remover

1.) Measure half a cup of grapeseed oil (or olive oil)

2.) Use the funnel to pour the oil into the empty 8 oz travel container.

3.) Measure half a cup of witch hazel.

(If you only have a 4 oz travel container use 1/4 cup of each grapeseed oil and witch hazel.  If your container is 6  oz then you will put 1/3 of a cup of each.)

4.) Use the funnel to pour the witch hazel into the 8 oz travel container with the oil.

5.) Put the cover onto the 8 oz container tightly

6.) Shake well before each use, the oil and witch hazel will separate.

7.) Pour a small amount onto a cotton round. Start removing your makeup quickly and easily!

The reason I like to use Grape seed oil instead of olive oil is that it is thinner and doesn’t feel as thick on the skin.  Grape seed oil is also packed with antioxidants, including skin-brightening vitamin C.  It has also been said to help treat acne, fight aging, moisturize, and tighten the skin, as well as lessen dark circles under the eyes.

There are also so  many skin benefits of witch hazel. It has both antibacterial and antiseptic qualities.  Witch hazel is a great natural remedy for skin conditions like psoriasis, acne, and eczema. Witch hazel help remove excess oil from the skin, making it effective at treating blackheads and other blemishes.

*At around $2 for a 16 oz bottle of witch hazel and around $8-10 for 16 oz of grapeseed oil, 8 oz of makeup remover will end up costing you around $3, (plus the cost of your empty bottle if you don’t already have one).

**Witch Hazel is safe to use in small amounts around the eyes.

Here is what I got in my box this month with a little description of each from the Love with Food website…

Adult Complete Vitamin Pack “Who said only kids can get away with gummy vitamins? These fruity bites have enough good stuff like Omega 3s and fiber to please any doctor. Toss them back first thing in the morning to get all the good stuff you need for the day.”  I didn’t personally eat the two vitamins that came in my box.  I gave them to my kids and they loved them!  They said that they weren’t chewy like they expected, but that instead they had a soft texture.

Love with Food | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

Gluten Free Original Mini Pretzel Crisps “All the crunchy, salty goodness of pretzels minus the gluten. Perfect for stashing in a backpack for recess or munching while tackling math homework. Or if you want to get a little fancy, serve them with cheese or dip for a great party snack.”  I’m not a huge pretzel eater, so I am going to let my kids eat this one too.

Love with Food | lookingjoligood.wordpress.comThis is what the love with food site has to say about the Bear Naked Caramel Apple Granola “This stuff tastes like it belongs on a decadent dessert—but with whole grain oats, it’s great brain food combined with apple-y goodness. Sprinkle it on yogurt or even just add some milk for the perfect get-up-and-go breakfast.”
I have a major sweet tooth and caramel is my very favorite!

Jimmybar! Mini Peanut Butter ClutterLove with Food | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com‘s got all the yummy peanut butter flavor kids love in an after-school snack, without the the bad stuff like added sugar or preservatives. Whether they munch it during recess or after school, they’ll have a new favorite snack for sure.”
We haven’t opened up this one yet, but the description is pretty interesting.  No added sugar or preservatives is always a good thing!

Love with Food | lookingjoligood.wordpress.comCake Batter Cookie Thins “What’s more comforting after a long school day than cookies? With no GMOs or artificial flavors, this is one crispy treat you can feel good about.  Dunk them in a cool glass of milk for the perfect treat, no matter what age you are!”

Love with Food | lookingjoligood.wordpress.comSnapea Crisps “The smooth, mild flavor of the pea is already delicious. So why mess with Mother Nature? Calbee® simply sprinkles it with a little salt to bring out the flavor and, voilà! Natural goodness, made great. Perfect for a post-workout snack, lunch side or crunchy topping on a salad, lightly salted, baked, and non-GMO Snapea Crisps are so simply good, you can eat them with anything, anywhere.”
I have had these before and I LOVE them.  I think that the Caesar flavor is better than the lightly salted one, but both are tasty. (Although, the Peas of Mind and Inner Beans from Trader Joe’s are waaaaaayyyy better!)

Love with Food | lookingjoligood.wordpress.comFunley’s Super Crackers with Broccoli in each bite.  “Moe was hauling fresh SUPERFOOD broccoli on the Funley’s Farm when he spilled some into a batch of Millie’s famous Cheddar cracker dough, resulting in super delicious CHEDDAR n’ STUFF SUPER CRACKERS. With superfood veggies, vitamins and minerals hidden inside, you’d never know you were eating such good stuff. Millie’s rule at FUNELY’S DELICIOUS: Moe keeps his mitts out of the mix, and all that comes from her kitchen must be ALL NATURAL, the best quality, delish and fun to eat! Moe does all the tasting. Millie does all the baking. Lucy the dog’s in charge of mischief.”

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie

I LOVE oatmeal chocolate chip cookie dough!!! But…since eating raw eggs is really not a good idea, I baked up these cookies.  I tried to refrained from eating too much of the uncooked dough. There is just something about raw oatmeal chocolate chip cookie dough that I find absolutely irresistible.  Here is my go to recipe for oatmeal chocolate chip cookies:

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies | lookingjoligood.woordpress.com
Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

Yields approximately 6 dozen cookies

2 sticks butter, softened

1 1/4 cups packed brown sugar

3/4 cup granulated sugar

2 tsp. vanilla extract

2 large eggs

1 1/2 cups flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp clove (a little goes a long way, so don’t over season with this spice)

3 cups old-fashion or quick cooking oats (uncooked)

2 cups semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips

Directions

Beat together butter, sugar and vanilla until smooth and creamy.

Beat in eggs until light and fluffy.

Add flour, baking power, cinnamon, clove, and salt and mix until blended.

Stir in oats and chocolate chips

Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Scoop dough into balls with 2 tsp scoop and place on cookie sheet 2 inches apart. I highly recommend using parchment paper, foil or a silicone baking sheet for the best results!

Bake 9-11 minutes until golden brown.

Enjoy and try not to eat them all at once!

Creamy Peanut Butter Bars

| lookingjoligood.woordpress.com|Peanut butter cookie bars originally from bakedinaz.com

Baked In Arizona has some awesome recipes on her site.  These Creamy Peanut Butter Bars are some of my absolute favorites. Her recipe is a bit different from ones that I have made it the past, but still so simple yet so delicious!

Definitely one of my very favorite treats! I highly recommend you make these! I usually give some away to friends as a gift because I cannot trust myself to not eat the entire thing all by myself.  They are so delicious!

Here is the  link and the recipe.

Creamy Peanut Butter Bars

Ingredients:
1 cup ritz crackers, crushed
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup butter, softened
2 cups powdered sugar
2 cups milk chocolate chips
Instructions:
Grease a 9×13 inch pan. Set aside.
Mix the crackers, peanut butter, butter and powdered sugar together in a medium sized bowl.
Press the mixture into the prepared pan. Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the mixture and place in a 400 degree oven for 5 minutes. Cool slightly then spread chips out with a spatula. Let the chocolate set up in the fridge (or freezer if you are impatient like me) then cut into squares and enjoy!
Notes: To make this a no-bake bar, you could melt the chocolate chips in the microwave or stove top and then spread over the top.

Easy DIY Makeup Remover

Make this super simple DIY Makeup Remover
Easy DIY Makeup Remover

I love to wear makeup, and I love knowing that my make up is going to stay where I want it to until I decide to take it off.  There are so many awesome long wear and waterproof products on the market.  The downside to long lasting and waterproof makeup is removing it without removing all your skin or eyelashes in the process.

There are many great makeup removers on the market.  The downside to these makeup removers is not only the chemicals, but also the price tag!  I have been making my own makeup remover for about 2 years now for only around $3 for 8 oz.

All you need for this super simple Easy DIY Makeup Remover is one empty  8 oz travel sized container and two household ingredients grapeseed  oil (or olive oil) and witch hazel, a measuring cup and a funnel.

If your container is 6 )

4.) Use the funnel to pour the witch hazel into the 8 oz travel container with the oil.

5.) Put the cover onto the 8 oz container tightly, shake well before each use, the oil and witch hazel will separate.

6.) Pour a small amount onto a cotton round. Start removing your makeup quickly and easily!

Safe to use in small amounts around the eyes.

At around $2 for a 16 oz bottle of witch hazel and around $8-10 for 16 oz of grapeseed oil, 8 oz of makeup remover will end up costing you around $3, (plus the cost of your empty bottle if you don’t already have one).  A little goes a long way and 8 oz will last you a long time.

Why I like to use Grapeseed oil: it is packed with antioxidants, including skin-brightening vitamin C.  It has also been said to help treat acne, fight aging, moisturize and tighten the skin, as well as lessen dark circles under the eyes.

The skin benefits of witch hazel are also many. It has both antibacterial and antiseptic qualities.  Witch hazel is a great natural remedy for skin conditions like psoriasis, acne, and eczema. Witch hazel help remove excess oil from the skin, making it effective at treating blackheads and other blemishes.
