Tip Tuesday #11

Here’s another tip for Tip Tuesday.

This week I am going to be talking about…Multi Masking!

Tip Tuesday Make up tips and tricks every Tuesday | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

I don’t know about you, but all the parts of my face are not created equally!  It is kind of annoying!  While my forehead and cheeks are very normal my nose is dry and my chin always seems to be the place to break out.

This is where multi masking comes into play!  Using a few different types of face masks as the same time you can get what each area of your face needs.  By applying a clarifying mask to my chin and a moisturizing mask to my nose and a soothing mud mask to my cheeks and forehead area, I am giving each each part of my face what it needs all at the same time.

Tip Tuesday FORMULA 10.0.6 multi masking | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

There are so many great masks available!  I really like the Formula 10.0.6 mud masks. I’ve seen them at both Ulta and at Walgreens.com. They’re great and only around $6-7.  Added bonus they smell great and the packaging is super cute too!  I also recommend  the Queen Helene line of masks two of my favorites are the  Grape Seed Extract Peel Off Masque and especially the Mint Julep mask.  These are both less than $4.

Hope you enjoy this weeks tip!

Tip Tuesday #10

Tip Tuesday: Make up tips and tricks every Tuesday | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

Here is another tip for Tip Tuesday…

I seriously hate it when I am trying to sharpen a makeup pencil and it keeps breaking!!!  (I hate wasting the product in a sharpener!) To prevent this from happening I put it in the freezer 30 minutes before I want to sharpen it. This simple trick helps to makes the tip less likely to crumble and break. If you are going to use the liner right after sharpening just soften it up a bit by drawing a quick line or two on the back of your hand.

Tip Tuesday...| lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

I tend to set aside a time to sharpen all my dull liners at the same time, so I will throw them all into the freezer at the same time and set a timer for 30 minutes and then sharpen them all at once

Tip Tuesday #9

Here is another tip for Tip Tuesday…

I always tend to apply my foundation and concealer first and then my eye makeup. Unfortunately, this often results in fall out creating what looks like dark shadows under my eyes (not the look I am going for!)

Tip Tuesday...| lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

Instead, after my foundation, I have recently been starting with eye makeup and then applying my concealer afterwards. That way, I can easily clean up any eye shadow that falls below my eyes. I also soak a cotton swab or two in makeup remover to have on hand to quickly and easily clean up any of the left over fall out. To finish, I apply my concealer under my eyes for a bright perfect under eye area.

“Recent” Target Haul Review

Well, I have really been trying not to buy new makeup…easier said than done!  I bought all this stuff waaaay back in February and have been using most of it ever since.

wp-1459775350166.jpg

Here is a list of what I got (with links):

Essence matte sun club bronzers This bronzer smells like summer and sunshine that is a plus.  That is kinda where my love of it ends. It is just ok.  I found that it tends to be a bit on the orange side rather than bronze.  It works fine for adding color to my face, but it is definitely not my go to bronzer.

Garnier Clean + Nourishing Cleansing Oil For Dry Skin – 4.2 fl oz So, what can I say about this cleanser to convey how much I LOVE it!  I wear waterproof mascara everyday and on the days that I work I always wear waterproof eyeliner.  This cleanser takes off my waterproof makeup perfectly and makes my face feel moisturized at the same time.

Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector Daily Anti-Acne BB Cream – Light/Medium (2 oz)  I LOVE this one too! I recently wrote an entire post singing the praises of this BB Cream.

It is hands down my go to every day base.  It is very easy to blend and gives light to medium coverage.  One of my favorite things about it is that as it brightens and evens out the skin it still has a very lightweight feel on the skin.

Neutrogena Pore Refining Daily Cleanser  Despite the fact that I bought this all the way in February, I still haven’t used it yet.  The main reason that I haven’t tried it yet it because we went on vacation to Florida right after I bought it and the bottle warns “Sun burn alert”  Because it has an alpha and beta hydroxyl in it it can increase the skin’s sensitivity to the sun.

Even though I haven’t tried it yet…Here is what the product claims…”Pore Refining Daily Cleanser starts working on contact to instantly reduce the look of large pores and improve skin’s tone and texture. Week after week, it continually reduces the appearance of pores for clearer and smoother skin.
This dermatologist-tested alpha and beta hydroxyl formula delivers visible results by removing dead skin from your face while smoothing over rough, uneven patches for improved skin texture. It penetrates to deeply clean pores so they appear smaller and less visible. Skin is instantly smoother and more even toned. Minimize the appearance of pores with continued daily use.”

Olay Regenerist Luminous Overnight Facial Mask Gel Moisturizer, 4.5 oz  This is another major winner!  I LOVE this one too!  I don’t use it every night, maybe two or three times a week, but it leaves my skin feeling so nourished and smooth.  I highly recommend this Olay Overnight Mask!  It is a bit pricy for a drugstore product at $24, but it is totally worth every cent!  It has a nice clean fresh scent that is not too overpowering.  As it says in the name it is a gel not a cream and I really like the way it feels on my skin as well as the way it makes my skin feel.

Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio  I actually bought this for my sister.  I already have this one and I know that I love the Wet N Wild Walking on Egg Shells Palette.  It is a great little eye shadow palette for creating a beautiful eye look. I love these smooth and creamy shadows.  She really likes these shadows as well.

Wet n Wild Color Icon Ombre Blusher  Ok, so here is the thing about this blush…I really really like this product, but NOT as a blush.  When put onto the cheeks it kind of gives an ashy appearance, it isn’t a good look!  But when used as a highlighter  or an eye shadow it is gorgeous!  I love to use it as an eye shadow on a quick 5 minute makeup days!

Of course, I paid for all of this stuff myself.  I wish that someone else had bought it for me, that would be nice😉

Here is another quick tip for Tip Tuesdays…

Think outside the makeup box

Tip Tuesday Taupe Eyeshadow | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

Invest in a good matte taupe eye shadow like Urban Decay Buck, Bobbie Brown Taupe, The Balm Matt Patel from the Meet Matte palette, or one of my favorites Taupe from the Lorac Pro Palette.  You don’t just have to use that matte taupe eye shadow in your crease or on your eyelids.  You can use a matte taupe eye shadow to fill in brows, line eyes, and even blend under your cheekbones for a quick and easy contour.

~Weekly Product Highlight~Wet N Wild Au Naturel 754A Nude Awakening Palette~

Au Naturel 754A Nude Awakening Palette | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

I don’t go to Walmart very often, but I made an exception to get this Wet N Wild Au Naturel 754A Nude Awakening Palette. It is absolutely gorgeous! I am completely in love! Trust me, you need this in your life!  One thing that I love about Wet N Wild is that they are a Cruelty Free brand!  I really appreciate that they do not test on animals!

Wet N Wild Au Naturel 754A Nude Awakening Palette | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com
There are 5 shades there, I am just so pale that two of them don’t show up that well, haha!

The shadows are beautiful shades, they are buttery and smooth and have a great pigment. As far as I know this is exclusively sold at Walmart and Walmart.com. I paid less than $6 for this palette at the Walmart near me.

This swatch doesn’t do justice to the small sparkles in the two darkest shadows.

You’ve got every rose gold shade that tickles your fancy, from mattes to shimmers to satins to sparkles. Bronzer 101

Let’s face it, about this time of year, if you live in the North East like I do you are probably a bit Vitamin D deficient!  While I can’t help you with that, I can give you a few tips on how to look like you have just returned from a stay at the beach.

Adding life to your face can be as simple as using bronzer!

While using bronzer to add color is a simple step, proper application isn’t always as simple.  Keep in mind that the goal is to add color, but not to give the appearance of an all over tan. Bronzer should be applied where the sun would naturally hit the face, the forehead, the cheeks, and the nose.

Bronzer is applied after your foundation and concealer have been put on. Choose a bronzer that works with you skin tone.  To apply find the apple of the cheek by smiling and lightly dust your cheeks with the bronzer. Then using a wide brush blend up and blend down.  You can put blush on top of it and even a little bit of shimmer and highlight on top as well.

Bronzing vs Contour | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com
Don’t confuse bronzing your face with contouring.  These are two different techniques.

While bronzer is probably the quickest way to add some color and life to your face, a little bronzer can go a long way, remember that you can always add more, so start off lightly and build it up as needed.

This is not the effect you are wanting to achieve with bronzer! (This is not my photo, I just googled bronzer overload and this was one of the first pictures that came up. )

One Shadow Complete Eye Look

Can you believe that to get this eye look, I only used one eye shadow?!

All I used was the Wet N Wild Comfort Zone Definer Duo Chrome Shade.  After applying the shadow all over my lid and under neath my bottom lash line,  I started blending.  Then I blended some more, and then a bit more.

Comfort Zone duochrome.jpg

In this picture, I am not sure how well the actual duo chromeness shows up (is chromeness even a word?) but in person it is a beautiful shade!  Just another reason that I love the Wet N Wild Comfort Zone Palette!

Do you have the Comfort Zone Palette?  Have you ever tried using just this one shade to create an entire look?

(I also have on Be a Bombshell eyeliner and Smashbox Photo finish mascara.)

Naked 2 Review and Swatches

Naked Palette Swatched | lookingjoligood.wordpress.comI have been dreaming of this Naked 2 palette for what seems like forever!  I finally got it this year for Christmas!  I am not going to lie, for several days I didn’t even use it, I just stared at its beauty!  I didn’t want to mess it up by using it.  Since then I have gotten over that and have been loving using this beautiful palette.  I know that since this palette was released in 2011 there are probably a million or more reviews and swatches already, but I just really want to add my own anyway. 😉

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette ($54.00 each shade is 0.05 oz each) contains twelve eyeshadows and a dual ended brush. (The brush is good; it is just like Urban Decay’s full-sized brushes: same size, feel, density, and softness.)

  • Naked Palette Swatched | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com
My skin is so pale that Foxy doesn’t even show up it just blends in. Haha!

Foxy is a pale yellow cream with a matte finish. It’s on the sheer side and a bit powdery. I use it as an underneath base all over the lid or for highlighting the brow.

  • Half Baked is a copper with a golden shimmer. It’s part of the permanent range and is also in the Naked 1 palette.
  • Booty Call is a creamy white/beige champagne  with a satin finish (very similar to Virgin from the original Naked palette) . It’s also similar to MAC Brule as well as Wet N Wild’s Creme Brulee.
  • Chopper is a medium metallic rose gold with silver micro glitters. This shade is permanent. Unfortunately, I notice a bit of sparkly fall out with this shade.
Tease is a matte mushroom taupe with purple undertones. The pigmentation is perfect for a transition crease shade.  Compared to the other shadows it is a bit drier, but it is still great and can easily be built up.  I absolutely love this shadow. I can already tell that I am going to be getting a lot of use out of this shadow.
  • Naked Palette Swatched | lookingjoligood.wordpress.comSnakebite is satin deep bronze with golden shimmer. It has a really buttery texture with excellent pigmentation. Pretty much gorgeous!
  • Suspect is a soft satin light taupe with golden flecks. It has great pigmentation.
  • Pistol is a satin warm steel grey. This is a pretty shade, but probably my least favorite, I tend to like more cool and neutral shades and this one is definitely warmer. The texture is wonderful, soft and smooth.  I have been branching out more recently to do warmer eye looks, so I do plan to play around with this one a bit more.
  • Verve is a pale beige-gray with a pink tinge. This shade was in the Rollergirl palette. Um, Gorgeous!!!  This is one of my favorite and most used shades in this palette.
  • Naked Palette Swatched | lookingjoligood.wordpress.comYDK is a warm, coppery reddish toasty taupe with coppery micro glitters. The pigmentation is awesome, and it has a buttery smooth texture. I can’t decide if I like Verve or YDK the best.  Both are absolutely beautiful!  When applied to the lids, both give a beautiful sparkle to the eyes.
  • Busted is a plummy dark brown burgundy-tinted, deep brown with warm, golden undertones. It has a soft, frosted satin finish. The color payoff is good and the texture is smooth. I tend to get a bit of fall out with this shade, but I think darker shades always tend to have more noticeable fallout. (I actually love to use this shadow to fill in my eyebrows.  The slight sparkle is perfect for making it look just like my eyebrow hair.)
  • Blackout is a really intense, deep dark black with a matte finish. It has really great payoff and goes on very black.  Be so careful when applying, the fall out is CrAzY!.

Matte shades: Foxy, Tease, Blackout,

Satin shades: Booty Call, Snake Bite, Suspect, Pistol, Busted

Glitter/metallic shades:Half Baked, Verve, Chopper, YDK,

Naked Palette Swatched | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com
Suspect, Pistol, Verve, YDK, Busted, Blackout Naked Palette Swatches taken with the flash.

Girls!  I have a whole new respect for all of these bloggers/vloggers that take awesome photos of their swatches.  Good job ladies, it is a lot harder than it looks!

Do you have the Naked 2 Palette?  What do you think?  Which is your favorite shade?  Do you own any of the other Naked Palettes?  Which do you have?  Which is your favorite? Do you recommend any others over the Naked 2?
