First Impressions of the Maybelline Volum’ Express The Falsies Mascara (Waterproof Very Black)

Maybelline Volum’ Express The Falsies Mascara
I went through a phase a few years ago where I was trying a new mascara every other week looking for the perfect one. Instead of perfection, I discovered lots of duds and I figured out exactly what I didn’t like about different mascaras.
Mascara is definitely one of those things that is super personal. Some people like dry mascaras, some like wetter formulas.  Some people want volume, others want length.  Some people despise clumps, others want to have a spidery lash look. It’s all personal preference. Mascaras that I hate might be your favorite ride or die product.
Personally, I have long, thin, super straight downward-pointing lashes that have a hard time holding a curl. Personally, I want long, curled, thick, upward-turning lashes… but then again, who doesn’t, right?  I prefer a natural-looking volumizing mascara with zero clumps!
Then one glorious day, I landed on the Maybelline Colossal Volum’ Express, in the yellow tube, and I heard angels singing and I haven’t looked back since…

That is until yesterday when I decided to try out the Falsies waterproof mascara in Very Black also by Maybelline…
It’s not a far cry from my holy grail mascara, in that it’s still by Maybelline and still part of the Volume’ Express line.
The difference is in the wand and brush. The Falsies has a curved brush and a flexible neck on the wand. The application was much easier than I expected. The formula is a bit wetter than I like and the end results after two coats are a bit clumpier than I prefer with less overall lengthening than I am used to with the waterproof Colossal Volum’ Express.

As I have worn it throughout the day I haven’t noticed any flaking or smudging. There has been no irritation to my eyes.  My lashes are a little less curled and bit less clumpy as the day has gone on. As with all waterproof mascaras, I used an oil-based cleanser to remove it, it came off without any issues.

Luckily for you, you get to see an up-close and personal picture of my eye.
Mascara is one of those things that I refuse to pay a lot of money for.  There are so many great products at the drugstore that a high-end mascara is not necessary.  Costing just around $7 USD, it’s overall not a bad mascara.  I have a feeling that it might be the type of mascara that’s perfect after being used for about two weeks after being opened.
So far not a 10/10, but I’m going to keep using it and see how it goes…
What about you?  What is your personal mascara preference?
Have you ever tried this Maybelline The Falsies mascara? Do you like length, volume, or a natural look? Are you someone that prefers a bit of clumping? Do you have a holy grail mascara that checks all the necessary boxes for you?  If so, I’d love to hear what it is and what you like about it in the comment section below!

Sometimes First Impressions are Wrong…

Beaute Basics 3 Tone Bronzer

Beaute Basics 3 Tone Bronzer | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

When I first pulled this little bronzer out of my ipsy bag, I thought great another tiny sparkly bronzer sample from ipsy that I will never use.  I even sent my sister in law a text complaining about it and making fun of the sparkles in it. The swatches were nothing special and I figured that if I used it it would probably be for eyeshadow. (You know, because I don’t have enough neutral eyeshadows already. Haha!)

Do any of you try out new makeup at night before you wash your face and get ready for bed? Who else does this?  Anyone?  Sometimes I take so long getting “unready” my husband has got to be wondering what I am doing in there.  Well, mystery solved.  I tried out this bronzer before washing my face and couldn’t believe how beautiful it is.

I figured that maybe it was just looking good because of the other makeup I still had on so I tried it again the next day, and the next, and I have been using it every day since.  I am a pale girl, so I need bronzer to help me look alive.  This bronzer has been working amazing at livening up my completion.

I have never heard of this brand before and when I checked out the website linked from ipsy I couldn’t find the bronzer trio on the site. I don’t know how much a full size costs, or where I can find it to purchase one, but for now I am really enjoying this little sample.

Sometimes first impressions are dead on, and other times after trying something out a few more times you realize that it is actually a great product.
