Ipsy October 2016 Glam Bag

Another month has flown by and it is now November and I cannot believe that I completely forgot to post what I got in my October ipsy glam bag!

I don’t know about you, but I always loving seeing what everyone else received in their bags every month, so I decided to post it anyway even though it is almost time for my next bag to arrive.

October’s theme was Make Some Magic

“Mix up magical potions, rock your best all-black everything and cast some serious beauty spells. Makeup or magic? You decide.”

This months bag is super cute! Valfré’s drawings custom designed this month’s bag.The material it is a sturdy textured light pink faux leather with makeup inspired Halloween pictures on it. I like that the zipper is across the top and it is a nice shape. My daughter took one look at the bag and said “This one is mine!” I told her we can share it 😉

Here is what I got in my bag for October:

Beaute BasicsSatin Taupe Eye Shadow

It is super soft and creamy texture. It goes on smooth and is super blendable, you can build up the color as well as making it look smokey. I have already worn this eyeshadow several times and I really like it.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation

I received it in the shade 117=Y225 (Marble) which looks as if it is going to be a good match for me.

Here is the thing about this foundation… I haven’t used it yet, I am super excited about receiving it, but I am afraid that I am going to love it and then want to spend $43 on buying the full size of this foundation. Haha, I just might be crazy…

This is a superfine eyeliner pen that is waterproof and smudge proof. It has a pointed tip that makes it simple to get into the spaces between the lashes.

So, yeah, I have gotten a black eyeliner in my ipsy bag for 5 of the last 7 months…oh well, I guess it is a good thing I like eyeliner and wear it every day.

Preventive Measures 101 Lips 101 After Hours

I love chapstick! Well, let me rephrase that, I love smooth, creamy, not waxy, not sticky chapsticks. I really love this one. It smells sweet and fruity, kinda like a pina colada. I was in love at first swipe. It makes my lips feel so nice and moisturized!

BeFine Food Skin Care Exfoliating Cleanser

This exfoliator smells like sweet caramel almonds. It lathers up very nicely and has larger sugar granules that melt away pretty quickly. I generally like a finer grain longer lasting exfoliating experience, but I actually do like this one too. Plus the scent is so nice and yummy I wish I could eat it!

Ipsy Glam Bag August 2016

It is ipsy glam bag time again! I don’t know about you, but I always loving seeing what everyone else received in their bags every month. (If you don’t know what ipsy is you can check out my previous post all about it by clicking HERE)

This month’s ipsy theme is Sugar Highness (I’ve had a few sugar highs in my life, I love candy!). “Let Us All Eat Cake. Get gorgeously glammed up and dip into everyday decadence—gone wildly galore.”

The glam bag itself is not my favorite. “Illustrated by ipsy founder Michelle Phan to inspire the beautiful dreamer in all of us.” I’m just going to come right out and say it, it is ugly. I like that the zipper is across the top, a feature that I prefer best the material it is made out of is like a faux leather, I like that, and the shape is good. Too bad about that picture, nope, this one is going to be part of my daughter’s collection.

I pulled this out of my bag and literally growled! I HATE getting nail polish in my glam bags! I guess I cannot complain too much, it has been a few months since they have sent me one. Instead they have been sending the steady stream of eyeliners. I would much prefer the eyeliners, at least I will use them.

Ipsy Glam Bag February 2016

I can’t believe that I completely forgot to post about this months ipsy bag! We were recently away on vacation in sunny Florida, so when my ipsy glam bag arrived I wasn’t even around to open it!! I haven’t used any of these products yet, so no reviews this month.

This month’s glam bag theme is “Pretty In Ipsy Pink“. The bag is a cute pixilated white envelope with a pink heart. The main side is a bumpy texture with pink smooth patten leather on the back. Again this month the zipper is across the top which, you may remember, I like a lot better than the style of the ones that have the zipper 1/4 of the way down. This is one of my favorite bag designs so far.

First ipsy Glam Bag of 2016

This month’s glam bag theme is “All Eyes On You“. The bag is a cute retro looking white bag with a pattern of a girl wearing glasses in bright primary colors. It has a nylon/plastic feel. The zipper is across the top which, you may remember, I like a lot better than the style of the ones that have the zipper 1/4 of the way down.

With the theme All Eyes On You, the majority of the products included in the bags were eye related. I love eye makeup the best, so I was very happy with my samples this month, (also that means no nail polishes for me!)

Since I received this a little while ago, I have already been using some of the products. I’ll give mini reviews on those that I have already used….Here is what I got in my glam bad this month:

OFRA’S Universal Eyebrow Pencil: I don’t usually use a brow pencil to fill in my brows. I tend to only use a powder, so I am probably going to pass this along to someone. It seems like a decent pencil. The more you apply the brow pencil the darker the color will get, so it will work well with a lot of skin tones. I may try it out as an eyeliner before I pass it on.

theBalm Cosmetics Mr. Write (Now) Jack B. Bronze (rich bronze) Overall I like the brand the Balm. This eyeliner is no exception. I only wish that I had gotten the other color Scott B. Bordeaux (deep purple), but this is still a great eyeliner. I prefer these twist up liners over the type that need to be sharpened. I have worn this to work a few times already and it has lasted throughout the entire day well without any smudging or budging.

J.Cat Beauty Blinkle Shimmer Eyeshadow I think that I have gotten things from J.Cat Beauty in my glam bags before. This blinkle shimmer shadow is in the shade Tangerine Light. It is not really a color that I would choose for myself, but it is actually a really beautiful color. I have used it a few times already and it lives up to its name, it is definitely shimmery! One of the things that I really like about ipsy is I often receive samples in colors and shades that I wouldn’t try otherwise but end up really liking them. (not the nail polishes though, I don’t appreciate them no matter what the shade or brand!)

skyn ICELAND Travel Size Glacial Cleansing Cloths Infused with Icelandic glacial waters and beneficial natural extracts, they sweep away makeup, dirt, oil and other impurities while refreshing and soothing stressed skin. I really like these cloths. They are a lot wetter than most cleansing cloths. If you rub the sides together it lathers up. Pretty interesting and works awesome. They kind of have a cinnamon scent and a warm feel on the skin.

Jelly Pong Pong Fairy Lashes CURL So, according to the product description: “Fairy Lashes CURL is a sculpting mascara that continually curls lashes throughout the day with a unique synthesis of Moringa Seed resin that holds the curl of lashes for long-lasting results.” This kind of seems like quite the claims! I have 4 mascaras open right now, so I haven’t tried this one yet. Although, I have tried a few other products from Jelly Pong Pong and I have liked all of them. When I do use this I’ll let you know if my eyelashes are “continually curls lashes throughout the day” by this mascara.

If you have been around Looking Joli Good for any amount of time, you know how I feel about nail polish… But actually to be completely honest, it isn’t nail polish itself that I don’t like, it is chipped up nail polish. I actually do like to have my nails painted, I just hate it when they get chipped and I have to take it all off and repaint them. I wash my hands what seems like a million times a day, so most polish doesn’t seem to last very long on my nails before becoming chipped.

Despite the fact that I don’t really want any more nail polish, I have to admit, this color is beautiful and exactly a color I would choose for myself to wear. I just had to laugh when I opened the box and saw that I was sent another bottle of nail polish, especially after the big stink I had just made about getting the polish from ipsy**.

I’m going to try out this Sally Hansen nail polish and I’ll have to let you know what I think about it. If nothing else, I can always use it to paint my toenails.

This month’s glam bag is a bright Christmas red. It has a patten leather feel to it. It is a half moon shape which makes it a bit smaller than usual. Not my favorite bag, but I do like that the zipper is on the top instead of across the side like several of the last few bags.

I actually received my bag last week and have already been using the products. So this will be a bit of a mini review as well.

Swissco Soft Touch Slant Tweezers

I am super picky when it comes to tweezers. I hate to have to say it but these just didn’t live up to my standards.They have a nice feel to them, but the tip is just too thick and blunt to really get ahold of those tough stubborn hairs.

Be A Bombshell Cosmetics Mechanical Eye Liner

This did not swatch too well, but I have to say that since I have been using it I have really enjoyed it. I got the color wild child which is kind of like an off black. I really like that it is a mechanical liner. I feel as if so much product gets wasted with the types that need to be sharpened.

LATHER honey moisture mask with propolis extract

I LOVE this mask! It has a great feel and my skin has been loving the extra moisture! I also love the honey scent! This is my favorite thing that I got in my glam bag this month.

You guys! You’ve got to me kidding me! I got ANOTHER nail polish!!! I hate nail polish! Why do I keep getting nail polish?! With washing my hands and wearing gloves all day at work, I can’t wear it, and I get my feet done at the salon. I am not going to lie, when I saw that I got yet another nail polish in my ipsy glam bag, I was so mad! I felt like a huge baby, but I was seriously so upset! I HATE nail polish! I talked to the ipsy customer service and while they are super nice and helpful, there really isn’t anything that they can do about it. I felt better that at least I was able to vent about it to someone at ipsy. Obviously this is my LEAST favorite thing that I got in my bag this month!

Luxie Beauty Matte Eyeshadow Pan No. 290 Aubergine It is a beautiful eggplant color perfect for in the crease. Maybe I will use the Crown Brush to apply it.

Figs & Rouge Mattifying Emulsion & Pore Refiner

Smashbox Cosmetics Full Exposure Mascara I have already used this a few times. I was pretty excited about getting it in my glam bag, but after using it, I am only meh about it. You know how some mascaras can get better after a little while, so I will keep using it and see if I like it more after a week or so.

ModelCo HIGHLIGHTING TRIO This highlighting trio is very smooth and creamy. I think that I will probably use it on my eyes instead.

Overall I am really pleased with this month’s glam bag. I prefer to get makeup instead of nail polish or skincare.

theBalm Cosmetics Meet Matt(e) Hughes Long-Lasting Liquid Lipstick in the shade Committed (pinky nude). I am not a huge fan of liquid lipsticks (that is another post all on its own…) This dries to a matte finish and has a wonderful vanilla mint flavor. While the shade is quite beautiful, it is not really great on me. I would definitely wear this lipstick in a different shade, despite my aversion to liquid lipsticks.

September Ipsy Glam Bag

As usual, again this month my daughter was very excited about seeing what the ipsy glam bag design was going to look like. This month it is a gold faux leather bag with a raised texture pattern design with a matching tan zipper. She described this months bag as “really pretty with a ‘leatherish’ feel”.

Here is a picture of what my “glam bag sneak peak” said I would be getting in my bag this month…But it isn’t what I actually received. Too bad, because I like the items they were supposed to send me better than the ones that I got. Oh well, nothing I can do about it now.
Here is what I actually did get in my ipsy glam bag this month…
-NYX Cosmetics ipsy Eye Shadow Trio- when my daughter saw this she said “That light shade will be great for all over the lid and the brown one will be perfect for the crease.” That’s my girl! The black shade swatches a bit patchy but it might be different once actually applied to the lid.

-Formula X Nail Color in Ignite- While it is a perfect for fall dark red shade, this one is going into the give away pile. As I have mentioned before, I actually hate getting nail polish samples. I get my toes done at the salon and never paint my finger nails at home.

-Crown Brush Oval Concealer Brush (C224)

-Not Soap, Radio Revitalizing Hand/Body Lotion in the scent persimmon + plum (smells quite delightful)

-tre’StiQue Mini Matte Lip Crayon in Nantucket Nude- The actual product itself is wonderful, I have a few other tre’StiQue products and I love them . This lip crayon is smooth and creamy, feels great on the lips, swatches beautifully. Unfortunately, the color is absolutely horrendous on my lips! I’ll spare you a picture of it!

I am jealous that this month some people got the NAOBAY Natural & Organic Oxygenating Moisturizing Cream. It is one of my favorites and I just ran out of it. I still can’t find where to repurchase it, and the site that ipsy sent me to isn’t in English, so I can’t read it well enough to purchase it. *sigh* Nothing wants to work out for me, haha.
