Ipsy October 2016 Glam Bag

Another month has flown by and it is now November and I cannot believe that I completely forgot to post what I got in my October ipsy glam bag!

I don’t know about you, but I always loving seeing what everyone else received in their bags every month, so I decided to post it anyway even though it is almost time for my next bag to arrive.

October’s theme was Make Some Magic

“Mix up magical potions, rock your best all-black everything and cast some serious beauty spells. Makeup or magic? You decide.”

This months bag is super cute! Valfré’s drawings custom designed this month’s bag.The material it is a sturdy textured light pink faux leather with makeup inspired Halloween pictures on it. I like that the zipper is across the top and it is a nice shape. My daughter took one look at the bag and said “This one is mine!” I told her we can share it 😉

Here is what I got in my bag for October:

Beaute BasicsSatin Taupe Eye Shadow

It is super soft and creamy texture. It goes on smooth and is super blendable, you can build up the color as well as making it look smokey. I have already worn this eyeshadow several times and I really like it.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation

I received it in the shade 117=Y225 (Marble) which looks as if it is going to be a good match for me.

Here is the thing about this foundation… I haven’t used it yet, I am super excited about receiving it, but I am afraid that I am going to love it and then want to spend $43 on buying the full size of this foundation. Haha, I just might be crazy…

This is a superfine eyeliner pen that is waterproof and smudge proof. It has a pointed tip that makes it simple to get into the spaces between the lashes.

So, yeah, I have gotten a black eyeliner in my ipsy bag for 5 of the last 7 months…oh well, I guess it is a good thing I like eyeliner and wear it every day.

Preventive Measures 101 Lips 101 After Hours

I love chapstick! Well, let me rephrase that, I love smooth, creamy, not waxy, not sticky chapsticks. I really love this one. It smells sweet and fruity, kinda like a pina colada. I was in love at first swipe. It makes my lips feel so nice and moisturized!

BeFine Food Skin Care Exfoliating Cleanser

This exfoliator smells like sweet caramel almonds. It lathers up very nicely and has larger sugar granules that melt away pretty quickly. I generally like a finer grain longer lasting exfoliating experience, but I actually do like this one too. Plus the scent is so nice and yummy I wish I could eat it!

Ipsy Glam Bag September 2016

Another month has flown by! It is ipsy glam bag time again! I don’t know about you, but I always loving seeing what everyone else received in their bags every month.

I have to admit it, I looked at the sneak peak this month. I don’t always, but I did this month. When I saw what I was going to be getting I was very underwhelmed. On the bright side, I did not receive another nail polish, so that is a plus. Now that I have received the actual samples I am a tiny bit more impressed with them, but just a tiny bit.

This month’s theme is Glamazon: “Real Talk: We’re Through With Lazy Beauty. Full-on glamour is back. Put away your sweatpants, let down your ponytail and get glammed up just for the heck of it. Woke up like this? As if.”

Notice anything about the girls on this bag? Besides that they look like they have lamp shades on their heads… Look a little closer at them…Do you see it? Did you notice that they are spelling out the word ipsy. I didn’t notice at first until I was taking this picture.

It is made out of a material that is like a plastic rain coat yet faux leatherish at the same time. It has a grooved texture to it. I like the plain black side without the golden girls on it. The zipper is across the top, a feature that I prefer best, and the size and shape is good. While it is a really cute idea, overall I am not a fan of this month’s design. You can’t win them all ipsy, once again this month the bag is going to be part of my daughter’s collection.

Here is what I got in my bag:

Dirty Little Secret Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Teaser
It is a perfect matte transition shade for the crease. I have been using this every day since I got it. I really like the packaging. It is nice and sturdy doesn’t feel cheap at all.

In the sneak peak the shade looked so much more warm and orange than the actual shadow is. I am really happy that it is more neutral taupe and less of an orange bronze. I think that ipsy refers to it as a “chestnut shade” The actual name of the shadow is “Teaser”

As a brand on the whole, I love Too Faced, this Lip Injection gloss not so much! While the gloss itself is nice and smooth and not sticky, it burned my lips like crazy!!! The box does have a warning that the gloss may cause you to experience a slight tingling for 5-10 minutes.

I wore twice it for about 7 minutes each time and I just couldn’t take it anymore. I had to wipe it off. I think my lips are just too sensitive. My sister in law also got this in her ipsy bag and she said that it didn’t really bother her too much. As you tell from the swatch picture it even started to irritate the back of my hand and turn it red.

Eva NYC Forget Me Knot Dry Conditioner
I have never heard of dry conditioner. I haven’t used this yet, but I sprayed it and it does smell great.

tre’StiQue Mini Highlight Stick in Maldives Luminescent
I have received several tre’StiQue products in my ipsy bags. So far I have really enjoyed them all. I have been using this as a highlight in my inner corner and on my lid. So far I really like it!

Even in this swatch the DLS shadow kinda looks a little orange, but it doesn’t look so warm in person.

Ipsy Glam Bag August 2016

It is ipsy glam bag time again! I don’t know about you, but I always loving seeing what everyone else received in their bags every month. (If you don’t know what ipsy is you can check out my previous post all about it by clicking HERE)

This month’s ipsy theme is Sugar Highness (I’ve had a few sugar highs in my life, I love candy!). “Let Us All Eat Cake. Get gorgeously glammed up and dip into everyday decadence—gone wildly galore.”

The glam bag itself is not my favorite. “Illustrated by ipsy founder Michelle Phan to inspire the beautiful dreamer in all of us.” I’m just going to come right out and say it, it is ugly. I like that the zipper is across the top, a feature that I prefer best the material it is made out of is like a faux leather, I like that, and the shape is good. Too bad about that picture, nope, this one is going to be part of my daughter’s collection.

In 2016 I have received 5 black eyeliners from ipsy. I mean, really? How many eyeliners does one person need, really?

I pulled this out of my bag and literally growled! I HATE getting nail polish in my glam bags! I guess I cannot complain too much, it has been a few months since they have sent me one. Instead they have been sending the steady stream of eyeliners. I would much prefer the eyeliners, at least I will use them.

Ipsy Glam Bag July 2016

Another month has flown by!!! I can’t believe that it is already time to post what I got in my ipsy glam bag! I don’t know about you, but I always loving seeing what everyone else received in their bags.

This month’s ipsy theme is “Hot Summer Nights” The card basically tells about the new changes to the ipsy.com website. They have added a new tips and tricks section as well as a look book inspo section.

This month’s glam bag is super cute! Silver gray background with an iridescent sheen background with small pink and white beach umbrella pattern. I love the iridescent colors of this bag’s print, it is one of my favorites so far! The zipper is across the top, a feature that I prefer best.

Here’s what I got in my glam bag this month…

theBalm Cosmetics Meet Matt(e) Trimony Eyeshadow in Matt Moskowitz
Triple milled just sounds attractive, doesn’t it? It means this shadow is super fine, making it smooth and easy to blend.

Ultra-matte color
Perfect on your lids, in the crease or as a transition shade
Velvety texture that’s as soft as it is stunning

ipsters received this eyeshadow in either Matt Kumar orMatt Moskowitz. I got it in Matt Moskowitz, which is a deep purple plum shade.

Although in the pan the shadow feels soft and smooth, it didn’t swatch well at all. Look at that swatch! It completely looks like a bruise! It was patchy and not very pigmented. It took 3 passes to get the swatch to show up like this. I am hoping that when I use a brush and put it onto my eyelids I have better results.

It feels smooth and creamy when swatched. I don’t love liners that need to be sharpened and I’m not sure how I feel about the color I received. I don’t usually wear such a light pink/nude shade on my lips. Naturally I have very pigmented lips, so nudes and light pinks don’t always work out for me. We’ll see if I end up using this or passing it along to someone else.

Everything on the bottle is written in French, so I had to look up what it was and how to use it. Hopefully it is as awesome as it is described to be.

It swatches great and is a very black black. I love that it is a twist up style of liner and think that the smudger is a great addition.

Even more so I like that fact that founder Karissa Bodar is doing such awesome things for women with and surviving cancer.

I have a love hate relationship with getting brushes in my ipsy bag. I somewhat hate that have been getting one almost every month recently, but I have actually been loving the bushes that I have been getting recently. (I would much rather get a brush every month instead of nail polish!) Since I just recently started wearing gel liner, I think that this brush might come in handy for that.

I have been getting Ipsy for a full year now.

I have decided to take a look back at what I have received in my Glam Bags and see what I love and what I have hated! I think overall I have received a lot of great products!

In June 2015 I got my very first Glam Bag! I am not going to lie, I was sooooo excited!
the tre’StiQue Mini Shadow Crayon in Kona Coffee is a favorite!
I don’t love liquid lipsticks, but the JCat Beauty had a nice cooling feel and peppermint scent that I do like.

July 2015 was a great month for my Glam Bag 4 out of 5 items were great with 3 being favorites!

Not Soap, Radio Revitalizing Hand/Body Lotion in the scent persimmon + plum (smells quite delightful) Favorite!
tre’StiQue Mini Matte Lip Crayon Hate it! Unfortunately, the color is absolutely horrendous on my lips!
I also did not like the golden bag from this month.
This was the month that I didn’t get the things in my bags that I was showed in my preview. Once the mix up was cleared up, I also received a blush from Model Co that I use very often and love, it is a favorite.

October 2015
The gold bag for this month was very small. Not much can be put into this bag. I gave it to my daughter and she loves it, so I guess it turned into a winner even though I didn’t like it.

AURORA Gel Effect Nail Polish in Inky Dinky…While it is a perfect fall dark purple shade, this one is went into my give away pile. I get my toes done at the salon and never paint my finger nails at home. As I have mentioned before, I HATE getting nail polish samples, yet seem to get them almost every month, grrrrrr

November 2016
While the actual “Out of this world” bag is ugly so it is a Hate It, the products I got in it were overall awesome!

Be A Bombshell Cosmetics Mechanical Eye Liner
This did not swatch too well, but I have to say that since I have been using it I have really enjoyed it. I got the color wild child which is kind of like an off black. I really like that it is a mechanical liner. I feel as if so much product gets wasted with the types that need to be sharpened. I have actually used up this entire product. Favorite!

LATHER honey moisture mask with propolis extract Favorite!
I LOVE this mask! It has a great feel and my skin has been loving the extra moisture! I also love the honey scent! This is my favorite thing that I got in my glam bag this month.

FORMULA X Nail Polish in Revved Up Hate it! (You know how I feel about nail polish…)

January 2016
skyn ICELAND Travel Size Glacial Cleansing Cloths Infused with Icelandic glacial waters and beneficial natural extracts, they sweep away makeup, dirt, oil and other impurities while refreshing and soothing stressed skin. I really like these cloths.

theBalm Cosmetics Mr. Write (Now) Jack B. Bronze (rich bronze) Overall I like the brand the Balm. This eyeliner is no exception. I only wish that I had gotten the other color Scott B. Bordeaux (deep purple), but this is still a great eyeliner. I prefer these twist up liners over the type that need to be sharpened. I have worn this to work a few times already and it has lasted throughout the entire day well without any smudging or budging.

February 2016
I didn’t like anything in this months bag. The envelop design bag itself though was super cute and a Favorite!

March 2016
I love the bag that they sent. It is definitely a favorite! Otherwise, I was not overly impressed with the samples in March’s bag.

April 2016
For the first time ever I love everything that came in my ipsy bag.

May 2016
I really like this month’s bag. It has a cute pattern and feel to it. I also like that it has a different type of closure than the usual zipper.

Ipsy Glam Bag May 2016

It’s that time of the month again! No, not that time of the month, but the time to receive another ipsy glam bag! I feel as if I have been getting them earlier and earlier every month!

This month’s theme is travel. “Destination Chic by ipsy” The card is a post card that is meant to be filled out and sent back, it says:

“Ready Set Adventure
Whether you”re hitting the road or enjoying a staycation, we want to hear all about it! Fill out this card and send it back for a chance to be featured on ipsy social media.”

This month’s glam bag is super cute! Instead of the usual zipper closure it has a fold over top with a center snap. Ipsters got a bag with either a blue, pink, or purple background with a icons of world travel themed pattern on it. I got a blue one. The bag itself is made of a smooth silky feeling fabric both inside and outside. The feel of it kinda reminds me of what a trench rain coat feel like.

This product has Hawaii’s rare Kukui Nut, that is supposed to heal and protect against dryness. I hate having dry lips, so I am interested to see how I like this lip treatment.

INSPR Beauty Eye Fluff Brush

I can always use another eye shadow brush for blending and buffing. I both love and hate getting brushes in my ipsy glam bags. I have gotten some great brushes that I use daily and I have gotten some others that are just ok. This one is nice and soft. I hope that it is a good one that gets the job done!

Hikari Cosmetics Shimmer Bronzer Weight: .25 oz

I am not s huge fan of sparkly blushes and bronzers, maybe because, even thought it kills me to say, I’m a bit closer to 40 than I am 20. I can definitely use this this bronzer as an eye shadows or highlighter.

Smashbox X-Rated Mascara Weight: .10 fl oz

I have used Smashbox Mascaras before and have always liked them. I love mascaras and always like to try out new ones. Hopefully this one is as good as the other ones I have used. This mascara’s “fiber-loaded formula” is supposed to be clump, flake and smudge-proof! Sounds like a winner, I hope it lives up to the hype!

This month’s glam bag is super cute! Orange, yellow, and blue multicolored background with a tie dyed like pattern. I love the colors of this bag’s print, it is one of my favorites so far! The zipper is a pretty teal and it is across the top, a feature that I really like. The last several bags the past few moths have been great!

This is a great little sample. I really enjoy these lipsurgence lip cremes. The color is beautiful, I have already worn this several times! It has a nice peperminty scent with a slight tingly feel. I love getting samples like this in my glam bag.

REN Skincare Evercalm Global Protection Day Cream Weight: 1 oz
I feel like for what it is 1 oz is a decent sized sample. It has a nice fresh scent and I really like the way this cream makes my skin feel. My foundation applies over it well. Supposedly it protects against free radicals and environmental aggression while combating the signs of premature aging. Trains skin to be less sensitive. That is a lot of claims for one product, but hey I am all for protection against environmental aggression, lol!

I was happy that I received two of these masks, just one would have been a bit of a rip off. Overall I am not a huge fan of sheet masks. They tend to be a bit cumbersome and annoying and I find that they are usually sticky. Although, despite that opinion, I did enjoy using the Blue Lotus + White Tea Sheet Mask mask, it smells delightful and my skin felt smooth afterwards. I will probably use the Blue Lotus + Seaweed Sheet Mask some time soon.

Some were hits and some were misses. At first I wasn’t overly impressed with this when I first saw it, but once I swatched it I realized that the color pay off is pretty good and the shine on the golden shade is beautiful! I have worn this a few times since I received it. Overall the color is beautiful, but the lasting power is not that great. Who wants to have to touch up their eyeshadow through out the day, not me!

This month’s glam bag is super cute! Orange background with a teal rose pattern. I love the bag print this month, it is one of my favorites so far! (Subscribers either got this version, or an opposite teal version with orange rose pattern ). The zipper is across the top, also a feature that I like.

I can’t believe that I completely forgot to post about this months ipsy bag! We were recently away on vacation in sunny Florida, so when my ipsy glam bag arrived I wasn’t even around to open it!! I haven’t used any of these products yet, so no reviews this month.

This month’s glam bag theme is “Pretty In Ipsy Pink“. The bag is a cute pixilated white envelope with a pink heart. The main side is a bumpy texture with pink smooth patten leather on the back. Again this month the zipper is across the top which, you may remember, I like a lot better than the style of the ones that have the zipper 1/4 of the way down. This is one of my favorite bag designs so far.

This month’s glam bag is a bright Christmas red. It has a patten leather feel to it. It is a half moon shape which makes it a bit smaller than usual. Not my favorite bag, but I do like that the zipper is on the top instead of across the side like several of the last few bags.

I actually received my bag last week and have already been using the products. So this will be a bit of a mini review as well.

Swissco Soft Touch Slant Tweezers

I am super picky when it comes to tweezers. I hate to have to say it but these just didn’t live up to my standards.They have a nice feel to them, but the tip is just too thick and blunt to really get ahold of those tough stubborn hairs.

Be A Bombshell Cosmetics Mechanical Eye Liner

This did not swatch too well, but I have to say that since I have been using it I have really enjoyed it. I got the color wild child which is kind of like an off black. I really like that it is a mechanical liner. I feel as if so much product gets wasted with the types that need to be sharpened.

I LOVE this mask! It has a great feel and my skin has been loving the extra moisture! I also love the honey scent! This is my favorite thing that I got in my glam bag this month.

When they sent out the preview email, I saw all the awesome possibilities… and the nail polish. I thought to myself, with all these awesome possibilities, I REALLY hope I don’t get the nail polish ! You guys! You’ve got to me kidding me! I got ANOTHER nail polish!!! I hate nail polish! Why do I keep getting nail polish?! With washing my hands and wearing gloves all day at work, I can’t wear it, and I get my feet done at the salon. I am not going to lie, when I saw that I got yet another nail polish in my ipsy glam bag, I was so mad! I felt like a huge baby, but I was seriously so upset! I HATE nail polish! I talked to the ipsy customer service and while they are super nice and helpful, there really isn’t anything that they can do about it. I felt better that at least I was able to vent about it to someone at ipsy. Obviously this is my LEAST favorite thing that I got in my bag this month!
