Today’s tip is about how to get a better hold out of your bobby hair pinsbobby pins | lookingjoligood.blog

For a better hold from your bobby hair pins, before applying them to your hair, spray them with hairspray or dry shampoo.  The extra stick will give them a better grip and a longer lasting hold.

No Gym No Problem

No Gym? No Problem! #37

If you are someone that gets bored easily while working out this is a great workout for you.  Although, if you are a person that needs music to workout with, you will need to add your own soundtrack because this workout doesn’t have any background music with it.  Get ready to squat and sweat!  (and of course, burpees, because what is a HIIT workout without burpees, right?!)

Daniel and Kelli at FitnessBlender have a great YouTub Channel with lots of great free workouts.

Do you have 25 minutes to improve your health and wellness? Yes, You Do! No Excuses, Just do it! Remember to keep good proper form, warm up before, and stretch after you exercise!

Delicious Recipes

Shrimp Lettuce Wraps with Peanut Dipping Sauce

I haven’t posted a recipe in a long time!  Here is a tasty one from Natashaskitchen.com for Shrimp Lettuce Wraps with Peanut Dipping Sauce

Prep time: 20 mins
Cook time: 5 mins
Total time: 25 mins
These shrimp lettuce wraps make for one fantastic, delicious and super impressive (Gluten free – mind you) meal. We love the cup-like shape and dark leaves of the Boston, bib, or butter lettuce but regular lettuce works too 🙂
Author: Natasha of NatashasKitchen.com
Skill Level: Easy
Cost To Make: $14-$17
Serving: 4

Ingredients

For the Lettuce Wraps:

  • 1 head of Lettuce.
  • 1 lb large Shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • Salt and Pepper
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 Avocado, sliced into strips
  • ½ Cucumber, sliced into strips
  • ½ bunch Cilantro
  • 1 medium Carrot, cut into matchsticks

Peanut Dipping Sauce:

  • ¾ cup Newman’s Own lowfat sesame ginger dressing (P.S. this dressing contains wheat so if you’re gluten free, try: Braggs ginger sesame)
  • 2 Tbsp creamy peanut butter (microwave 30 sec if peanut butter refrigerated)

Instructions

  1. Rinse and pat dry your shrimp. Sprinkle shrimp with salt and pepper. Add 1 Tbsp olive oil to a large hot non-stick skillet. Once oil is hot, add shrimp and saute on med/high heat 2 min per side or until cooked through. Don’t overcook them or they will turn rubbery.
  2. Cut your cucumber and carrot into thin matchsticks. Slice your avocado into strips. You should find a prettier avocado though; one that doesn’t look as sickly as mine.
  3. Make your dressing by whisking together the ¾ cup sesame ginger dressing with the 2 Tbsp peanut butter. If you have a tightly sealed tupperware, you can put it int there and shake ‘er up until it’s nice and smooth. This sauce is so so tasty and way too easy!
  4. Assemble your lettuce wraps with a lettuce leaf, several strips of carrot and cucumber, a decent slice of avocado, 2 shrimps and a couple good sized sprigs of cilantro. Don’t skip on the cilantro. At least give it a whirl. It totally reminds me of spring rolls and makes the entire spring roll dangerously enticing. Then drizzle the top with the peanut dipping sauce.

Today’s tip is about how to get the most out of your mascara and make your lashes look fuller.

Neutrogena Healthy Volume Mascara | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

1. Prevent clumps by wiping off excess mascara!  You want to be able to control the amount of product that you apply.  Start off with less and add more.

2. Slowly wiggle the mascara wand along the base of your lashes before moving to the ends. (You may remember this tip from a few weeks ago.)

3. After the first coat, wait about 30 seconds or so, then apply loose powder to the lashes with an eyeshadow brush.  (Be careful not to get any into your eyes.)

4. Finish with a second coat of mascara add volume to your lashes.

Today’s tip is about how to make your brushes last longer:

elf brushes | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

1. Keep it clean! Wash your brushes well at least once a week.

2. Just like your hair, your brushes need a little extra love, too! After you wash your brushes, condition the bristles with a few drops of olive or coconut oil.

3. Place your brushes upside down to dry. This will keep them fluffy. (Click HERE for a whole post I wrote about drying your brushes)

4. Store your brushes vertically to prevent the bristles from getting harmed.

Tip Tuesday #78: Add An Extra Glowy Boost To Your Skin

Here’s another tip for Tip Tuesday:

Today’s tip is about how to add an extra boost of glow to your skin.

For an extra boost of hydration to your skin making it more glowy, to your moisturizer add two drops of your favorite facial oil, my favorite is the Tarte Maracuja Oil, $48 for 1.7 oz.  Also, don’t forget to always smooth in moisturizer in upward strokes and remember to apply moisturizer to your neck and chest! I recommended the Cerave moisturizing cream.

This week’s tip will help you to hide any discoloration on your eyelids while also making your shadows stay in place all day

concealers | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

Prime your lids with a small amount of concealer and set it with a finely milled setting powder before applying your eyeshadow. It will hide any discoloration on your lids, while also making your shadows look more opaque.  Added bonus, it will also keep your shadows in place all day.

Beauty Subscription · Make up

Goodbye, Ipsy… Hello, BoxyCharm!

ipsy | lookingjoligood.blog

As you may recall, I subscribed to Ipsy for over two years.  (How could you not recall since I wrote about my glam bags every month 😉)  I really looked forward to trying out the samples and loved getting my pink shiny envelope in the mail each month.

After a lot of going back and forth, I decided that I wanted to move on to something different.  While I have really enjoyed so many of the samples that I received over the last few years, I felt as if I was getting bored with them, while also feeling overwhelmed with too many small sample products to try.  I am ready for change!

Ipsy Glam Bag | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

I went back and forth between getting a subscription for Boxy Charm or Glossy Box.  Both boxes are $21 per month. Both boxes seem to have deluxe and full-size samples.

From the research I did, Glossy Boxes has more skin care and deluxe samples, whereas Boxy Charm seems to have more makeup related items and full-size product.

I definitely prefer makeup and full-size products, but on the other hand, it is nice to be able to try out new skincare products that I might not ever try otherwise. It was a tough decision.

Boxycharm seemed to be the way to go. According to the website, Boxy Charm always has 4-5 full sized items and claims that each box has a value of $100 or more.

So while this is my last month getting ipsy, I have finally I signed up for a subscription to Boxy Charm.  For now, I am only planning on getting Boxy Charm for three months.  We’ll see how things go.

Up until now, I was on the “waiting list” but received an email letting me know that I’ll be getting the August box.  I already saw a sneak peek of a few of the things that are in the August box and I am soooooo excited for what is coming in this month’s Boxycharm.

Stay tuned for a post when I get the box in a few weeks!

Do you get BoxyCharm?  Do you get any other monthly subscription bags/boxes that are worth trying out? Let me know in the comments below.

This week’s tip is about applying concealer to the under eye area.

Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

The skin around the eye is super delicate! Your ring finger has the softest touch, so always use your ring finger to blend concealer beneath your eyes.   Follow this tip when applying eye cream to this area as well.
