Use plain Greek Yogurt as a face mask.

I don’t know about you, but I am always looking for ways to improve my complexion and skin.  Skin care is so important!  Unfortunately, it can also be so expensive!  I have a miracle skin care step that is quite inexpensive!

I have been using plain greek yogurt as a face mask, and my skin is looking better than ever!  My skin feels and looks smoother, my fine lines and pore are less visible.

There are so many benefits to applying a Greek yogurt mask!  What I have noticed is that it helps moisturize, fight acne, prevent breakouts and reduce discoloration.  I have heard that it also can prevent premature aging,  as well as relieve sunburn.

Directions: Generously apply 1.5-2 tsp of plain greek yogurt to the entire face avoiding the eye area.  Let it sit on the skin until the mask is dry. Remove with a warm washcloth and be amazed at how beautiful your skin looks and feels.

Generally, I will apply it before I take a shower and leave it on my face about 10 min or so, depending on how much time I have.  If I have a busy morning and don’t have time to bother with a face mask, I will apply the mask at night and leave it on anywhere from 20-35 min.

Today’s tip is about drying your makeup brushes after cleaning:

After cleaning your makeup brushes keep moisture out of the ferrule, that is the fancy name for the base of your bristles, by hanging them upside down to dry.  This simple trick will prolong the life of your brushes by preventing the moisture from breaking down the glue that holds the bristles in.

  • Using a towel rack, hold your clean but wet brush with the bristle side down.
  • Loop a hair tie or elastic band around the base of the brush handle.
  • Pull the hair tie around the towel rack and loop over the top of the handle.
  • Let your brushes hang securely until dry!

Always smooth in moisturizer in upward strokes. Pulling down on your skin can eventually lead to sagging.   Gravity and time are already hard enough on us!  Also, don’t forget to moisturize your neck and chest!  The neck and chest area, if not properly taken care of, can be dead giveaways for your true age.

One of my favorite moisturizers is CeraVe Moisturizing cream.  It has both ceramides and hyaluronic acid.  Both help to draw and trap moisture into the skin.

Ever have a tough time getting your matte liquid lipstick off?

My friend Toni sent me a tip for Tip Tuesday, and I wanted to share it with all of you!

She was wearing Lime Crime Velvetine in red rose matte liquid lipstick and realized it’s really hard to take off!   She used olive oil and a paper towel and it came off cleanly! She said that her mouth “wasn’t stained or on fire!” Yay for painless liquid lipstick removal!

Don’t throw away that hair conditioner, use it as a shaving cream.

Have you ever spent money on a hair conditioner only to discover that it doesn’t work well for your hair?  Don’t throw it away, use it instead to shave your legs.  The conditioner will not only provide a nice smooth medium for shaving, but it will also soften your skin and the hair at the same time.  You might just be surprised how soft and smooth your legs feel!

Schick Quattro is my favorite razor!  I have very sensitive skin and have been using it for years without any skin irritation.  This Aussie 3 minute miracle is actually a wonderful hair conditioner and it also works great on my legs as well.

Today’s tip has to do with getting ready for a big event:

Do not try out new hair and skin products the day of or day before a big event!

Do you have a special event coming up?  Don’t wait until the day of to start preparing for it.  If you have a hair mask or a face mask that you want to use to make your hair and skin look its best, start prepping and primping 5-7 days in advance.

This week’s tip has to do with perfect under eye concealing!

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

It’s not just about finding the perfect product (I recommend the Instant Age Rewind by Maybelline), it is also a lot about technique.

This week’s tip:

Cancel out any creases in your under eye concealer before setting the area with powder.

After applying the concealer to your under eye area, take a minute to go back again and smooth out the concealer one more time before powdering.  You can use your finger, a brush, or a damp beauty sponge.  This seems like such a simple tip, but it will make a big difference in the look of the under eye area.  Keep in mind that powder will seal everything in, so smooth out your concealer before setting it.

Want your lashes to grow without expensive serums?

I have mentioned before that I have super straight sad lashes that do not stay curled when I apply regular mascara.  Due to this fact, whenever I wear mascara, I use waterproof mascara. You may have heard that wearing waterproof mascara is bad for your lashes and that it will make them dry and brittle.

Maybelline Great Lash Mascara | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

Whenever I wear waterproof mascara, I remove it with coconut oil (this was tip #35).  After a little while of doing this, I noticed that instead of the waterproof mascara making my lashes becoming dry and brittle, my lashes were actually growing and becoming stronger from the coconut oil.

As you have probably guessed, this week’s tip is to apply coconut oil to your lashes to help strengthen and lengthen them.

Added bonus, I also use the coconut oil as an under eye serum and I think that it makes a big difference.

Keep in mind that a little bit goes a long way and if you use too much coconut oil you will get it into your eye and end up with blurred vision, not fun!
