Jordana Easyliner for lips lipliners Sedona Red

These Jordana Easyliner for lips lipliners glide on smooth and creamy and last for hours.  I also love that it has a twist up applicator so I don’t have to sharpen it and lose a bunch of product in the process.  They are available in 13 different colors.  My favorite go to is Baby Berry. So far I have only found them sold at Walgreens (and online). At only $2.50 each, I will definitely make a special trip to Walgreens!

Here is what the Jordana Cosmetics website says about the Easyliner

Retractable-No Sharpening Required
Silky Smooth Soft Glide Formula
Excellent Color Coverage; Rich Semi-Matte Finish
All-Day Wear
Convenient & Easy to Use
Made In USA

Essence Lipliner

Essence Lipliner $1.49! | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com
Essence Lipliner $1.49!

At only $1.49 these essence lipliners are a major steal! If you don’t already own one you need this in you life!  They go on smoothly and last hours.  They have 8 different shades to choose from as well as a transparent liner.  My favorite shades are 05 soft berry and 07 cute pink.  Unfortunately, it has a wooden design, so it does need to be sharpened, but at such a low price it is still a great deal.  In my area they are only available at Ulta and Ulta.com, but according to the Essence website they can also be found at Shoppers Drug Mart and Fred Meyer as well.

What does Ulta.com have to say about these lip liners…

Essence Lip Liner glides on smoothly and precisely to ensure perfect lip contours and endless hours of lipstick fun. The wooden lip liner is ideal for smudge-proof and long-lasting lip makeup.

What do you think?  Have you used either of these lipliners?  Do you love them?  What is your favorite go to great deal lipliner?

Tarte cosmetics packaging is so cute! | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com
Just look at this packaging! So cute!

NotAlways Knotty‘s Questions for me:
1. What is your favorite makeup brand?
My favorite high end brand is Tarte Cosmetics.  They have the cutest packaging and I just love the quality of their products.  If I had to pick my favorite drugstore brand, I’d have to go with Maybelline.  I just find that overall I enjoy a lot of their products.  Although, I really love L’Oreal….maybe it is a tie between the two of them.
2. What is your favorite clothing store?
I love Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor Loft.  The clothes are classic yet comfortable and  fit me really well, plus, they always have great sales! (I love a great sale!)  Oh, I love White House Black Market, pretty much for the same reasons I love Ann Taylor and the Loft.
3. What product are you dying to have?
I really want the Lorac Pro Pallete.  I know I am eventually going to buy it, but I just haven’t splurged yet.
4. Who is your favorite beauty guru?
Hands down my favorite beauty guru is Tati from Glam Life Guru.  She is not only beautiful, but she really knows her stuff!  I look forward to hearing what she has to share everyday!  If you don’t already subscribe to her videos on YouTube, you don’t know what you are missing!  Go check her out today.
5. What is your go to style?
Hmmm, I guess my go to style is classic chic yet comfortable
6. What is your dream job?
Before I had kids, I already had my dream job, I worked on the day shift as an oncology registered nurse and I loved it. (having a day shift made me love it even more!)  Now that I have kids, I have my second dream job, being a Stay at Home mom!  The pay stinks, but the job is super rewarding 😉
7. What has been your biggest accomplishment?
Definitely my biggest accomplishment has been being a mother to my two awesome children. It is not always easy and it can be so tough and tiring, but knowing that I am making an impact on their two lives is the most important thing I will ever do.
8. How did you come up with the name for your blog?
“Jolie” in French means pretty or beautiful.  Having the last name of Joli, it was a natural fit to call the site Looking Joli Good.
9. Where is one place you would like to travel to?
I have always wanted to go to Paris, France.  It just seems like such a wonderful magical place.  Although, after watching a show on Travel Channel the other night about Montreal, Quebec, Canada, now I want to go there.
10. What advice would you give another beauty/fashion blogger?
You do you! Blogging is about having fun and connecting with people!  If you start to get stressed out about it, take a little break. Always be honest and try to enjoy what you are doing!

My Nominees Are…
(It was tough to only pick 10, there are so many great blogs that I enjoy reading…)

  1. Online Beauty Finds
  2. Supa Life of a Shopaholic
  3. Say Hello to Gorgeous
  4. Ordinary Adventures
  5. Happy Nami
  6. Lucieleannexo
  7. All The Best Beauty
  8. Curly Spring Blossom
  9. Valsvoguexo
  10. Make Up Plus 50

If you have already been nominated for the Beauty Blogger Award just ignore this (or even better, link your previous “Beauty Blogger Award” post in the comment section,)  For those of you who choose to accept, the 10 questions for you to answer are below!

~Weekly Product Highlight~ Eyeshadow~Wet n Wild COLOR ICON EYESHADOW COLLECTION ~

Wet n Wild COLOR ICON EYESHADOW COLLECTION 736 Petal Pusher

I am an eye shadow lover!  My favorite part of putting makeup on is definitely the eyes! I purchased this Wet n Wild Petal Pusher icon eyeshadow collection at CVS for $4.99.  At such a low price, I was amazed at the great quality and pigmentation of these shadows.

While I can’t say that I absolutely love and use all 8 of the shadows, there are several that I use quite frequently.  Since these shadows don’t have individual name, I have numbered them to make it easier to tell which one I am talking about.

Product Highlight~ Eyeshadow~Wet n Wild COLOR ICON EYESHADOW COLLECTION ~ |lookingjoligood.wordpress.comMy hands down favorite shade is #2.  It is a light pink with a pearl finish.  It has a creamy texture and goes on beautifully.  I generally use it either all over my lid or in the inner corners to add some highlight. My second favorite is #3.  It is a beautiful light lilac purple matte shadow.  It also has a nice creamy texture and blends out easily. I usually use this in the crease as a transition shade. I haven’t had any issues with any of these shadows creasing on me.

It is a tie for third place between #1 and #5.  While they couldn’t be more different from each other, they both work out perfectly for where I want to use them.  The #1 shade is a perfect matte highlight shade for under the brow bone.  It also looks beautiful when used all over the lid either on its own or under another shadow.  This shadow also blends out well.  The deep purple of the #5 matte shade is perfect for using on the outer lower lash line, and in a V definition of the outer crease and along the outer lid. It does have a bit of fall out, but I find that as long as I tap my brush off first, the fall out isn’t too bad.

Numbers 4, 6, 7, and 8 all are glittery and tend to have a lot more fall out.  In the pan #4 has a burgundy look to it, but transfers as more of a purple, while #6 looks reddish, but goes on more black with red undertones. Number 8 is a glittery black with A LOT of fall out, so use with caution!

The ICON EYESHADOW COLLECTION also comes in two other pallet selections 738 Comfort Zone and 737A Poster Child. | lookingjoligood.wordpress.comThe ICON EYESHADOW COLLECTION also comes in two other pallet selections 738 Comfort Zone and 737A Poster Child.  While I don’t personally own either of these two pallets myself, I have heard a lot of great things about the 738 Comfort Zone pallet.

What does the Wet and Wild Website have to say about it?…

Eight dynamic, perfectly color-coordinated shades with high pigment and pearl for ultra-impact color. Shades can be used together or individually to create an endless variety of looks.

The back of the packaging says: “A stunning collection of silky, ultra-pigmented day-to-night colors. Mix-and-match for a variety of looks from sweet to wild! All day, crease-resistant color

Walmart Beauty Box

Did you know that Walmart has it’s own a subscription beauty box?  Yup, they do!  It is a quarterly box and only costs $5 a season.  Generally the box will have around 5 samples, with 2 of them being full sized products.  Also in your Walmart Beauty Box, you’ll find smaller sample beauty products, coupons, and tips on how to use them.  Your order will include a wide selection of trusted Beauty brands.

Walmart technically calls it a “sample box” and says that the box itself is free and the $5 is a flat rate for shipping and handling.  Either way the box costs $5 each season.

How does it work?

  • You sign up at https://beautybox.walmart.com/
  • Create and account
  • Add your payment and shipping info
  • Wait for you confirmation email
  • Enjoy your beauty box when it arrives

If you are first time subscribers: Your subscription will be processed when you sign up and your credit card will be charged $5 and you will receive the current season’s box.  Once you are subscribed, you won’t have to resign up, you will receive a shipping confirmation email and then your box will arrive.  You’ll only be charged when your Beauty Box is shipped.

The Walmart beauty box website says “Each seasonal Beauty Box is a “limited edition” and may sell out.  Note: Beauty products vary by box.  Only one beauty box per email address.”

Why Sunscreen, why do you hate me so?!

While we do need some sun exposure for the natural production of vitamin D, the sun’s UV rays can be so damaging to the skin, especially as we age.

I have fair to light skin so, if I am going to be spending any amount of time outside  at all I HAVE to wear sunscreen!  Sometimes even though I wear sunscreen, I still will end up getting burned.  Not fun!

Here is my biggest problem… when I wear SPF on my face I end up breaking out! I don’t mean like a little zit here or a little spot there…I mean the BIG ones! The ones that last a long time and hurt like crazy!!! Let me tell you, that is not a way to be looking good!

I don’t like to break out…but I don’t like to have a sunburn on my face even more.

I have tried all kinds of sunscreens: lotions, sprays, creams, natural ones, expensive ones, cheap one, ones for babies, those specifically made to go on the face, the ones that claim that they won’t cause breakouts.  Yup, I have tried a lot of sunscreens…so far no luck!

Do you have the same problem? Have you found something that works for you? If you have any suggestions of sunscreens that you have used on your face with out any break outs, let me know because I’d love to hear them!sunshine on my shoulder makes me happy| lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

August Ipsy Glam Bag and Birchbox Box

August Ipsy Glam Bag and Birchbox Box | lookingjoligood.wordpress.comWhen you come home and your mail box looks like this, you know it is going to be an exciting day!  I subscribe to both Birchbox and Ipsy.

While I do think that the box’s design each month are really super cute,  I was not too impressed with my Birchbox samples this month.  Actually…I haven’t been too impressed with my Birchboxes at all lately, so I am pretty sure I am going to be canceling my subscription.  Several of my Birchbox samples have gone right into my give away to someone else box. I feel as if I can better spend $10 each month by picking out and purchasing my own beauty products.   All that being said, it is excited to find my mailbox overflowing with makeup and samples. 🙂

Here is what I got from Birchbox this month…August Ipsy Glam Bag and Birchbox Box | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

  • Shea Terra Organics Rose Hips Black Soap Deep Pore Facial Cleanser (I don’t really know what this stuff is really, a face wash…a mask…not sure)
  • Juicy Couture I am Juicy Couture perfume sample  (I hate perfume samples!)
R+Co ATLANTIS Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner (these were both in foil packs…I hate foil packs!)
  • Harvey Prince Sea Salt Texturizing Mist (I have super straight hair, sea salt mist just makes my hair look dirty.)
  • Supergoop!® Daily Correct CC Cream SPF 35+ (This should be a great sample, right?  I have heard so many great things about this brand.  Yeah, it was such a small teeny tiny sample that I couldn’t even cover my entire face with the CC cream, and I don’t even have a very big face.)
  • Multitasking crayons from LAQA & Co in the shade Humble Brag/blush pink (Ok, Finally something that I like.  The color is beautiful!  I wore it on my cheeks as blush and I loved it.  I found it to be a bit drying on my lips, but the shade is beautiful and a bit of lip balm helped with the dryness.)

My daughter gets very excited about seeing what the ipsy glam bag design is going to look like.  This month it is a black and white hounds tooth design with a pink zipper. She perfectly described it when she said that it feels just like duct tape.   Here is what I got in my ipsy bag this month…August Ipsy Glam Bag and Birchbox Box | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

  • JUARA Skincare Turmeric Antioxidant Radiance Facial Mask
  • Skone Cosmetics Luxe Doubler Eye/Lip Pencil in Wine Briogeo
  • Blossom & Bloom ™ Ginseng + Biotin Volumizer
  • noyah Natural Lipstick in the shade Desert Rose (it is a nice creamy beautiful light pink)
  • Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish in Elegantly Wasted (This is a beautiful lilac purple shade. Unfortunately for me, this one is going into the give away pile. I actually hate nail polish.  I get my toes done at the salon and never paint my finger nails at home.  Oh well, 4 out of 5 isn’t bad.)

How about you?   Do you get ipsy or Birchbox?  What did you get in yours?  Were you happy with your samples?  Do you get any monthly subscription boxes that are worth trying out?  Let me know in the comments below.

Maybelline Super Stay Better Skin Foundation Review ~Week Three of Three

I have used several different types of Maybelline products in the past (I absolutely love their mascaras!), but I’ve never used one of their foundations. So the Maybelline Superstay Better Skin™ Foundation was my first experience. *Spoiler alert*I have to say, the more I use this foundation the more I like it!  I prefer a light, matte finish, medium coverage foundation, and that is exactly what this foundation provides.

This Maybelline Super Stay Better Skin foundation goes on easily, looks great, and wears well all day. It never irritated my skin nor caused any new breakouts.

As I said in my previous post about the Better Skin Foundation, I don’t have many skin issues as it is, so I was not really expecting any miracle results.  While using this foundation over the last 3 weeks, I haven’t noticed any reduction in the “appearance of spots, dullness and uneveness,” nor have I noticed that my skin is “brighter, more even and stress-free.”  What I have noticed is that this foundation goes on easily, looks great, and wears well all day.  As with some foundations, it never irritated my skin nor caused any new breakouts.

A few things I have noticed about this foundation over the last few weeks…
When first applying, it has a funny funky almost burnt plastic smell to it.  While the smell is weird, it fades quickly and isn’t really a big issue for me.
It doesn’t work well with all primers.  I have a few different primers, and some it works fine with and others not at all.  This foundation works well enough on its own that it doesn’t even need a primer at all.  So once again not really a big issue for me.
It doesn’t apply well with a beauty sponge.  I found that using a foundation stippling brush or my fingers works the best.  It is quick an easy to apply with my fingers, so this is actually a plus for me.

So, after a few weeks of using this foundation:
Did this foundation live up to all the claims of better skin in 3 weeks…well…they give a lot of claims for a foundation to do all on its own, so I’m going to with no, but…
Would I repurchase this foundation for myself…Definitely!
Would I recommend this foundation to you…Definitely!

**I was sent this  full sized foundation in a VoxBox from Influenster for free to test out for 3 week for the #betterskinchallenge, even so, my opinion is completely my own.**

NYC Smooth Loose Face Powder

~Weekly Product Highlight~ Loose Powder~

It is a finely milled powder that mattifies the face without adding an extra thick layer of makeupy weight.I have been using this powder for years!  At less than $3 this product comes straight from heaven!  It is a finely milled powder that mattifies the face without adding an extra thick layer of makeupy weight.  This powder also helps to control oils without drying out the face.  The translucent shade works great for all skin colors.

It comes with a circular cosmetic makeup sponge over an opaque white sifter.  I don’t use the sponge, but instead use a large fluffy brush like the e.l.f. Studio Complexion Brush ($3) or the e.l.f. Essential Total Face Brush ($2).  I tip the container over and use whatever powder is in the cover to dust lightly over my face. I generally first start by applying to my chin, the nose, the forehead and cheeks.  Of course whichever order you choose to apply the powder onto your face is up to you.

As the day goes on, after blotting any excess oil off of my face, I will often reapply a light dusting of powder to my T-Zone.  Even after adding this extra layer of powder to my face it doesn’t look built up or cakey.

What does the NYC Cosmetics Website have to say about it?…
