6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Forgiveness: The prisoner that it really frees is you!
1 John 1:9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Matthew 6:14-15 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Luke 17:3-4Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.
“Forgiveness”
Matthew West
It’s the hardest thing to give away
And the last thing on your mind today
It always goes to those that don’t deserve
It’s the opposite of how you feel
When the pain they caused is just too real
It takes everything you have just to say the word…
Forgiveness
Forgiveness
It flies in the face of all your pride
It moves away the mad inside
It’s always anger’s own worst enemy
Even when the jury and the judge
Say you gotta right to hold a grudge
It’s the whisper in your ear saying ‘Set It Free’
Forgiveness, Forgiveness
Forgiveness, Forgiveness
Show me how to love the unlovable
Show me how to reach the unreachable
Help me now to do the impossible
Forgiveness, Forgiveness
Help me now to do the impossible
Forgiveness
It’ll clear the bitterness away It can even set a prisoner free
There is no end to what it’s power can do
So, let it go and be amazed
By what you see through eyes of grace
The prisoner that it really frees is you
Forgiveness, Forgiveness
Forgiveness, Forgiveness
Show me how to love the unlovable
Show me how to reach the unreachable Help me now to do the impossible
Forgiveness
I want to finally set it free
So show me how to see what Your mercy sees
Help me now to give what You gave to me
Forgiveness, Forgiveness
Show me how to love the unlovable! Show me how to reach the unreachable! Help me now to do the impossible! Forgiveness!
Sunday morning one of my favorite singers at our church sang this song with the choir, and it has been running through my head ever since. My favorite line in the song is…
I know you, I love you
I gave My life just to save you
Love paid the price for mercy
My verdict not guilty
I stand accused
There’s a list a mile long
Of all my sins
Of everything that I’ve done wrong I’m so ashamed
There’s nowhere left for me to hide
This is the day
I must answer for my life
My fate is in the Judge’s hands
But then He turns to me and says
I know you, I love you I gave My life to save you
Love paid the price for mercy
My verdict not guilty
How can it be?
I can’t begin to comprehend What kind of grace Would take the place for all my sin?
I stand in awe
Now that I have been set free
And the tears well up
As I look at that cross
‘Cause it should have been me
My fate was in the nail scarred hands
He stretched them out for me
And said
I know you, I love you
I gave My life to save you
Love paid the price for mercy My verdict not guilty
I’m falling on my knees to thank You
With everything I am, I’ll praise you
So grateful for the words I heard
You say
I know you, I love you
I gave My life
I know you, I love you
I gave My life just to save you
Love paid the price for mercy
My verdict not guilty
Love paid the price for mercy My verdict not guilty, not guilty
The world we live in is a scary and mean place. The best way to change it is to be the change in it. We can start one person at a time by teaching our children to be different than all the others.
This is how they’ll change the world, by us teaching them to be kind, offer help, be a friend, and look for the good!
I love to travel! I wish that I could do it more often, but then again, doesn’t everyone?! Every time I go to a new place it makes me want to explore and travel even more!
