~Weekly Product Highlight~Loreal Colour Riche La Palette Nude~
I find that every time I use this palette someone will compliment my eye look. That alone is reason enough for me to recommend you buy this palette.
I went back and forth between whether I wanted to buy this Nude one or the “Nude Intense” purple/ pink hued one. I am glad that I chose this one because I really do enjoy it!
If you are looking for a good quality drugstore palette for less than $20, then this palette is perfect! The mid toned and dark colors are very pigmented. The light shimmery shades are fine, nothing super special, just ok, they still get the job done. Overall, for the price, it is a great drugstore palette.
There are 7 shimmers and 3 mattesThe mattes are creamy and easy to blend. The shimmery shadows are smooth and not overly powdery, but the lighter shimmery shadows are a bit harder to work with.
These two shadows are the perfect crease transition shade!
While I usually hate the brush that comes with these types of products, I have actually used this one for applying the shadows to my lid. It is double ended with one end being a sponge tip applicator and the other is a small brush. I use the sponge tip to apply the shimmery shadows and surprisingly, I find that it works really well. The small brush side I use for applying shadows to my lower lash line.
Inspired by makeup designers ‘Must Have’ palettes, the La Palette Nude offers everything you need to master the art of nude eyeshadow. Makeup Designer Nude looks curated exclusively for each palette with step by step instructions and live tutorials. 10 highly pigmented shades range from light to dark to flatter every skin tone in 3 shadow finishes: shimmery satin, buttery matte & lustrous sheen.

I am a big fan of BB/CC creams and this Almay Smart Shade is now a new favorite! If you want something lightweight to wear during the summer when it’s hot and humid this BB cream is perfect. It gives the right amount of coverage without feeling heavy. It leaves a flawless looking, smooth base for makeup. Like most BB/CC creams it provides sheer/light cover that can be built up to slight medium coverage.
As you can tell from the above photo, it comes out of the tube an off white slight beige and as it is rubbed in it transforms into your skin’s color for a perfect shade match. I don’t know how they do it, but it is amazing!
Con: It only comes in 3 shades: light, light/medium and medium. Not a great range.
Natural lighting is the best! You may remember this look from my recent Makeup Of The Day post. Check it out to see everything that I am wearing on my face.
It reminds me a lot of the Loreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream and has a very similar formula and wear. I cannot decide which of the two I prefer, they are so similar. (The Loreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream does come in four shades: fair, light, medium, and deep, as well as two other formulas one for anti-aging and one for anti-redness.)
“Almay smart shade™ makeup makes it easy to find “the one” with just three skintone-adjusting shades to choose from, not hundreds! It adjusts to the natural tones and nuances of your skin with breakthrough almay tonemimic™ shade-sensing bead technology, which intuitively transforms to your skintone for all day natural looking coverage in your perfect shade. Contains broad spectrum spf 15. Hypoallergenic. Dermatologist tested. Made for sensitive skin.”

In my effort to not buy new makeup items, I have been “shopping” from my own collection of makeup. I have rediscovered so many great products that I had completely forgotten that I love. One of the rediscovered items is the Milani Shadow Eyez 12Hr Wear Eyeshadow Pencil in11 SAND DUNES Shimmering Taupe. I forgot how much I love this product!
The pigmentation is amazing, it dries quickly and does not wear off at all during the day. I have a heavy fold to my lids, so sometimes my lid shade ends up in my crease, so annoying! (all you heavy fold and hooded eye girls, you know what I mean right?!) This shimmer doesn’t transfer off my lid at all.
After I applied the swatch for the above picture, I completely forgot about it and didn’t try to remove it. When I woke up the next morning I saw it on my arm and couldn’t believe that it had lasted so long. It was definitely on my arm for about 18 hours and hadn’t smudged or worn off at all.
It comes in 10 different shades ranging from neutral tan/beige to bright teals and greens. I also had the colors 08 ESPRESSO LINE Matte Espresso Brown and 06 ROYAL PURPLE Blue-Purple Sheen. While they were both super pigmented and lasted all day, I found them hard to blend and couldn’t get either color to work well for me.
This water-resistant and crease-proof eyeshadow pencil can be worn multiple ways—as a shadow, liner and highlighter. Sharpened to a fine point, it defines. Softly smudged, it adds color. Swept under the brow bone in one of the paler hues, it catches the light. It’s perfect for creating any eye-catching look on the go.
APPLICATION
Apply the pencil directly to the lid, then blend. After use, always replace the cap so the tip does not dry out. Sharpen with Duo Sharpener.”
What about you? Have you tried any of the Milani Shadow Eyez 12Hr Wear Eyeshadow Pencil? What do you think? Have you used other chubby pencil long wearing eye makeups? I would love to hear your opinion!

I am a big fan of BB/CC creams! This Loreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream was the first BB cream that I ever used and it has been a favorite ever since! I like the design of the packaging, it is in a small squeeze bottle that makes it perfect for throwing into my makeup bag for travel. We recently went away for July 4th and this is what I brought along with me.
If you want something lightweight to wear during the summer when it’s hot and humid this BB cream is perfect. It gives the right amount of coverage without feeling heavy. As you can tell from the above photo, it comes out of the tube white and as it is rubbed in it transforms into your skin’s color for a perfect match. I don’t know how they do it, but it seems like magic! I am guessing that is why they named it Magic Skin Beautifier.
It comes in four shades: fair, light, medium, and deep, as well as two other formulas one for anti-aging and one for anti-redness. Prices range from $7.99 at Target to $10.99 at Ulta.

~Weekly Product Highlight~Rimmel Scandal Eyes Gel Liner~
Why has it taken me so long to start using gel liner? This product has seriously been a game changer for me! While I don’t wear a winged liner every day, when I do I used to only use liquid eyeliner. The first time I used this product I was speechless. I know it may seem crazy, but I was seriously so excited about how quickly and smoothly my wing applied. Where has gel liner been all my life?
For some reason Rimmel has always been a cosmetic brand that I have overlooked. I am not sure why because it is a great brand with a lot of awesome products. Recently I have noticed that several of the products that I have been using and enjoying have been from Rimmel. This Rimmel Scandal Eyes Gel Liner is no exception.
The liner comes with a brush that has soft bristles yet is sturdy and holds up well while applying the gel. The gel glides on very smoothly and is quite forgiving. It doesn’t dry too quickly to be able to fix a mistake, but it does dry fast enough to become smudge-proof. I had no trouble applying the liner exactly where I wanted it and in the thickness I prefer. Cleaning the brush is easy too, I usually just wipe it with a dry tissue.
It comes in two shades: black and brown. I have mostly been using the brown shade and I love it! I have also purchased the black shade which I haven’t used as much, but the formula is still just as great and it is a super black black!
I have heard that some gel liners have a drier formula that can drag across the lid preventing a crisp line. The formula for this Rimmel Scandal Eyes Gel Liner is smooth and creamy and not dry at all. I have been using it daily for the last month and it has not changed in consistency at all. Not sure if this makes any difference but I am very careful to keep the lid closed tightly at all times, I even close it while I am applying it to one eye before I get more product for the other eye.
• Up to 24 hours of rich, intense colour that doesn’t flake, smudge, smear or run. • Easy to apply, glides easily • Professional brush for complete control to draw the lines you want.
NEW SCANDALEYES WATERPROOF GEL EYELINER The new quick-drying formula glides on smoothly for a more natural-looking finish. The luxuriously creamy liner comes with an accompanying thin brush that allows you to effortlessly build and layer for an eye look that reaches dramatically eye-catching levels. Creates a smooth, smudge-proof line. 24 HR Wear!”
What about you? Have you tried any of these Rimmel Scandal Eyes Gel Liner ? What do you think? Have you used other gel liners that have been great? Have you used any that have been terrible? I would love to hear your opinion!
~Weekly Product Highlight~Rimmel London Show Off Lip Velvet liquid lipstick~
Overall I am usually not a huge fan of liquid lipsticks. While the color pay off and lasting power is usually great, I don’t like for my lips to feel dry and uncomfortable.
I personally would not have bought this Rimmel London Show Off Lip Velvet liquid lipstick for myself, but I received it in a Walmart beauty box* As far as I know, in the US, this specific Rimmel London Show Off Lip Velvet is only sold at Walmart and Walmart.com. I haven’t seen it anywhere else.
*Side note: That is one of the things that I like the most about beauty boxes. Often I get items in them that I would not purchase on my own, yet I end up really enjoying them.
At first, since I don’t like liquid lipsticks, I was hesitant to even try this out. I was considering just passing it along to someone else, but then for some reason, I decided to swatch it and I really like the color. I have the shade 307 Meteoric Matte. The packaging is super cute as well. One of the things that I really like about the design of it is the doe ft applicator has a little divot in. Such a simple thing that makes a big difference. Just enough product collects in the little divot to cover my entire lips.
Unfortunately, my husband is not a huge fan of these darker/deeper/brighter shades of lipstick on me, so I don’t wear them too often. I will definitely recommend that if you are trying to decide on a liquid lipstick and whether or not to try out this Rimmel London Show Off Lip Velvet liquid lipstick, I say at around $5 it is a good one to buy!
I have worn this “lip velvet” several times now and so far have enjoy it. I wouldn’t really call it a true matte, and it never completely dries down. Both of those things don’t bother me since I personally don’t like the look or feel of matte lipsticks on me. While even at around 4 hours later the color still transfers, overall the color also lasts around 6 hours. I don’t know about other shades, but this one in particular wears off for the most part evenly. Does it look great at the 6 hour mark, no, not great, but it also doesn’t look terrible either. It didn’t look too bad after eating while I was wearing it either.
I didn’t find that it feathers or runs, even without a lipliner. I have to be a bit careful when I first apply to not get any on my teeth or the outside of my lips because it will stain the surrounding skin. I feel as if this particular shade would look great all all skin tones and colors. Added bonus this shade makes my teeth look super white!
~Weekly Product Highlight~e.l.f. Eyeshadow Palette -Mad for Matte~
I had ordered this e.l.f. Eyeshadow Palette -Mad for Matte a long time ago, and it took so long to arrive that I had almost given up on it and then had I actually forgotten about it. Unfortunately, it is sold out on the elf website, but can usually be found at Target and CVS and Target.com.
I just love matte neutral shadows!
I purchased this matte palette on the recommendation of Tati from GlamLifeGuru on YouTube. She always give the best recommendations, so I knew that it was going to be a great palette.
Here is what I think about this palette…
Pros:
This 10 shade palette only cost $10!
The shadows are smooth and creamy.
They apply easily and blend like a dream.
You can easily get a complete eye look out of this one palette.
There are so many options for a great crease shade and several great transition shades.
Cons:
While there are 10 shades in this palette several of them are so similar that when used together they look like the same shade.
It can end up looking muddy if blended all together.
It is constantly “sold out” so it is not easy to get your hands on.
Yes, there are actually 10 shades swatched in this picture. I am just so ghostly pale that 3 blend right in rather than stand out!
What does the elf website have to say about the Mad for Matte Palette…
“details
Achieve both beautifully bold or subtle everyday eye looks with these perfectly curated 10 matte eyeshadow shades. This collection of hues is ideal for shading, highlighting, and defining the eyes. The satin matte shadows can be used as a liner, on the lid, and in the crease of the eye for an expertly contoured and blended look.
how to use
Apply dry all over the eyelid with a brush for a subtle wash of color or apply wet for a vibrant effect.
Start with a light color and apply the shade all over your eyelid as a base.
Next, apply a medium shade over the eyelid and the eye crease using the crease brush.
Finally, apply the darkest shade over your eyelid. ”
I love the packaging, it is so simple and sleek.
Have you tried this palette yet? What did you think? I think for an overall inexpensive brand, E.L.F. has some really great products!
You need this in your life! I am telling you, stop what you are doing and go get this e.l.f. Powder Blush Palette! Ok, maybe that is a little dramatic, but these blushes are really awesome! They give the face such a beautifully pigmented glow! I am so impressed with the quality of these blushes.
They come in two different options: light and dark. I have the light palette, but the dark one is so beautiful, I think eventually I may get that one as well. For only $6 you get 4 beautiful different shades of blush.
Upside…each of the pans can be popped out. So if you want to rearrange or interchange the colors of this palette with one of their other palettes you can. It can also be interchanged with the products from the e.l.f. Total Face Palette as well.
Downside… these shades are only offered together in this palette and not sold individually. While they do not have the exact shades sold separately, they do have some similar shades such as the Studio Pressed Mineral Blush in Jet Setter and Cabo Cabana; or the Studio Blush in Blushing Rose or Berry Merry. Personally, I think the blushes from the palette are much better than the ones that are sold individually, imo.
I am going to be honest with you, the first time I applied this blush I wasn’t expecting it to be quite so pigmented and I may have ended up looking a little bit like a clown! That is ok, I love me some blushed cheeks, haha! Since then, I have found that applying the blush not only with a very light hand but also by applying it with a stippling brush. This gives me a much better, more natural look.
This beautiful blush palette holds 4 gorgeous shades to mix and match throughout the year for a custom blended color. Great for contouring, shading, sculpting, and highlighting, these silky smooth blushes create a beautiful pigmented glow. With a mixture of complimentary matte and shimmer finishes, you can achieve a professional look every time.
how to use
Choose your preferred blush shade and apply to the cheeks or area you wish to contour or highlight and blend in.
What about you? Have you tried any of these e.l.f. Powder Blush Palette? What do you think? I would love to hear your opinion!
PS: My sister is the one who first told me about this e.l.f. Powder Blush Palette (the same sister that told me about the oh sugar lip balms.) I love sharing things I love with people I love?!
~Weekly Product Highlight~Colgate Optic White Express White Toothpaste~
I have VERY sensitive teeth. I cannot bite into an apple that is cold right out of the fridge, I cannot drink a glass of ice cold liquid without using a straw. I cannot even think about doing either of those things without my teeth hurting. So, when it comes to teeth whitening, my vanity does have its limits!!! Of course I want to have white teeth, but at what price?! I have tried all kinds of “teeth whiteners for sensitive teeth” and most have left me in serious pain! I think that overall I have a somewhat high pain tolerance, but when it comes to the pain of sensitive teeth, NOPE, I am a huge baby!
All that being said, I received my first tube of Colgate Optic White Express White Toothpaste in a Target Beauty box a few months ago. My teeth are so sensitive that I can usually tell after the first use of a whitening product if it is going to make my teeth hurt. This product claims to be ” formulated to be used daily and is enamel-safe. When used as directed, ColgateOptic White has not been shown to increase sensitivity in consumers” It also claims to give a noticeably whiter smile within 3 days (*best results seen after 4 weeks) So with all those claims, I figured that I would give it a try.
Did this tooth paste make my teeth hurt…
Nope! When I first started using it I didn’t have any noticeable increase in my teeth’s sensitivity. What I did notice though was when I flossed my teeth every day gums were a tiny bit tender, nothing too bad nor painful, but something that I was aware of. Also, my lips have been a bit drier while I have been using this tooth paste. I must also mention that I use this in combination with ACT Restoring Anticavity Fluoride Mouthwash in Cool Mint. (I have been using ACT for years and it really does help with my teeth’s sensitivity.)
Did I have noticeably whiter teeth in 3 days…Yes! When used consistently twice a day, I did notice that my teeth looked whiter /brighter after using this toothpaste for 3 days in a row. But… to be honest, I also had a dental appointment to get my teeth cleaned on day 3, so I don’t know if it was all the toothpaste or a combination of the two.
After those initial 3 days, I have since used the entire sample 0.75 oz size tube, as well as an entire tube in the 3 oz size and have started a new tube. Now that I have consistently used this toothpaste my teeth are definitely whiter and brighter. I am hooked!
Not the most flattering of pictures. But here is an idea of what my teeth looked like before using the Colgate Optic White Express White Toothpaste and after using it for 3 days.
Were my teeth super yellow to start off with? No. Are my teeth super duper brighten up the entire room white after using this? No, but are they whiter and brighter than they were when I started, yes!
I have recommended this toothpaste to both my sister and my sister in law and they are both loving it as well! I love sharing products I love with people I love!
What does the Colgate Website have to say about this product…
Dazzle Without the Hassle
Express White is Colgate’s fastest teeth whitening toothpaste ever.
Breakthrough formula offers whiter teeth in 3 days* just by brushing.
Safe for daily use. Protects enamel and provides anti-cavity fluoride protection.
*For best results, use as directed for 4 weeks. **Vs Optic White® Sparkling Mint®.
“When used as directed, best results are achieved in 4 weeks, but to keep your white smile, continue to use. In addition to providing whitening results, Optic White® provides all of the benefits of standard fluoride toothpaste and can be used daily.
When using the entire Optic White® collection together, when should I use the Mouthwash? Before or after the whitening gel? Use mouthwash prior to the Optic White® Whitening Pen. To get the desired results, the gel should be the last item you use after brushing your teeth.“
I haven’t tried out any of the other optic white products, but I am interested to see if they work out as well too. ~Weekly Product Highlight~ Garnier MIRACLE SKIN PERFECTOR BB CREAM and the MIRACLE SKIN PERFECTOR BB DAILY ANTI-ACNE~
I have been using this Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB CREAM for about 4 years now. It is hands down my go to every day base. It is very easy to blend and gives light to medium coverage. One of my favorite things about it is that as it brightens and evens out the skin it still has a very lightweight feel on the skin.
During the winter months I am super pale, so the fair/light Skin Renew shade is a great color for me right now. During the summer I use the light/medium, and even some times by the end of the summer I am even in the medium/dark shade. I also really like that the skin renew has a 15 spf in it. The light medium has more of a brown under tone, while the fair/light is more of a peach undertone.
The Miracle Skin Perfector BB CREAM light/medium is much lighter than the Skin Renew light/medium shade. It is so much lighter that I can wear it during the winter months even when my skin is at its palest. I prefer the finish of this one over the Miracle Skin Perfector BB CREAM. It seems to last longer throughout the day and gives better coverage overall.
