Today’s tip is about Makeup Mistake That Makes You Look Older #2:
As I mentioned, there is nothing wrong with getting older, but there is no reason to make yourself look older than you are. For the next few weeks, I’m going to give some tips on which makeup mistakes to avoid making yourself look older than you actually are.
Don’t be too hard on yourself, we all make mistakes. 😉
Tip 2: Choose the correct color of blush! I LOVE blush! It is one of the magical makeup products that can be applied quickly and simply, yet will instantly add brightness and life to your face.
While adding blush to the apples of your cheeks can give the face a lifted look, blush can quickly go from magic to a tragic if you choose a color that is too dark. Depending on your skin tone, a soft peach or rosy hue can add a youthful glow to the face, but a too dark shade will make the face look dull and tired.

Hi, so this is a Tip Tuesday on Wednesday…I got my days mixed up, whoops!
Here’s another tip for Tip Tuesday:
Today’s tip is about Makeup Mistake That Makes You Look Older:
There is nothing wrong with getting older, but there is no reason to make yourself look older than you are. For the next few weeks, I’m going to give some tips on which makeup mistakes to avoid making yourself look older than you actually are.
Tip 1: Moisturize your skin and neck! You will never regret giving your skin some extra care. Even if you have oily skin you need to moisturize! (you can read more about my tip for moisturizing oily skin by clicking HERE)
If your skin is tired, oily, dry and cracked your foundation will sink into those lines giving your face an older appearance. Cleanse, tone and moisturize your face every day!
How many times have you been innocently doing your makeup when all of a sudden slip and smear, now you’ve got a blob of mascara on your face or eyelid? NOOOOOOO!
Don’t panic! Also don’t act right away! Let the mascara dry and simply gently wipe it off with a dry cotton swab. Sounds too simple to be true, but it really is that easy.
Maybe you have rubbed the mascaraa bit too vigorously? That’s ok, just use your beauty sponge (brush or whatever you applied your face makeup with) to touch up the area. If you over enthusiastically removed the mascara mistakes from your eyelids, use the corresponding eyeshadow brush and blend out your mistake.
Don’t be too hard on yourself, we all make mistakes. 😉

I’m not a fan of one-time use masks. I believe that with skincare, just as with eating right and exercising, to see results anything that you do needs to be done consistently.
I’ve just made masking part of my weekly routine. I usually do masks twice a week, always on Tuesdays and Fridays. Having a set day to do masks makes sure I don’t forget to do a mask.
Here is where the “multi masking” comes in…in the morning before I shower, I put the mask on first thing, then let it do its thing while I brush my teeth and go to the bathroom. I then get into the shower and wash off the mask while in the shower.
Once you do your masks this way and make this part of your masking routine, you will never do it any other way!
This Clay Detox Mask from Trader Joes is great, but it is only available seasonally.
I have a feeling that if you love makeup and keep up with the “beauty community” you are already familiar with Boxycharm. But just in case you don’t know what it is…
Boxycharm is a $21/month/box beauty product subscription that includes 4-5 luxury and indie brand beauty related products. Instead of sample sizes like some other subscription boxes/bags, each month, Boxycharm has full sized products. It ships to both the US and Canada. Each month the value of the box is over $100. This month’s box has $126 USD worth of products in it. It is a great way to try out different higher priced brands without spending a lot of money. I’ve received products from brands such as MAC, Tarte, Cover Fx, Becca, Dr. Brandt, and Bare Minerals.
February’s theme is Galaxy Glow.
I love that they include a card with the product’s info and pricing on it. Each month there are usually a few product variations between the boxes that are sent out. This month there were three different possible boxes. I got variation number one, as indicated by the number 1 in the lower right-hand corner of the info card.
Here is what I got in my box this month:
CoverFX – Shimmer Veil shade Amethyst $28.00
“These multi-use, shimmering creme colors are crease-proof enough for the boldest of eye looks and formulated with a weightless finish for a shimmering effect anywhere on the face. Suitable for all skin types.”
This product is gorgeous! I love it! a little bit goes a long way and adds so much sparkle to the eyes! I’m such a sucker for sparkles!
Top swatch right from the doe foot, bottom swatch rubbed in.
Crown Brush – Pro Brush Trio $29.99
“Use this 3pc Pro Brush Trio to contour your face to perfection! The small brush can be used to conceal imperfections and highlight underneath the eyes. The medium sized brush can be used to sculpt the cheekbones and perimeter of the face. Finally, the large powder brush can be used to set everything in place.”
Ofra – Pop-up Palette + Blush Godet Refill $50.00 (variant item)“The Pop-Up Palette is perfect for any OFRA magnetic makeup godet. The palette holds up to 48 grams of product and items can be continually tailored according to personal preference. I was really excited to get this as one of the variant products! I don’t already have a popup palette, but I have wanted one for a while now. I’ll be putting this to good use! “The Blush Godet offers strong pigment with a long-lasting effect in a fabulous pressed powder blush. Can be applied wet or dry.”The Boxycharm card says that the pop-up palette is $19 while the Ofra website has it listed for $21. Both site and card list the blush as $12. I’m not quite sure where the Boxycharm website gets the $50 it lists for the combined price? Maybe someone added incorrectly? Who knows…$12 and $19 combined for a total of $31.
Vintage by Jessika Liebskind – Eyeliner Pencil $21.00
“Jessica’s richly pigmented smokey eye pencil delivers intense jet-black definition! Creating pencil-point precision or smudgy, saturated color, the creamy-soft formula glides on lids without tugging or pulling.” I would NEVER pay $21 for any wooden pencil eyeliner, this one included. What would a subscription box be though without its overly priced black eyeliner pencil?
PUR The Complexion Authority – X-Faux Lips: Plumping Lip Exfoliator $17.00 (variant item)“With an instant boost of shea butter, raw sugar, and exfoliating beads, this 4-in-1 lip scrub pencil exfoliates, plumps, hydrates and soothes. Using the shea butter to soften lips, while the raw sugar and exfoliating beads are used to buff away dead surface cells, it moisturizes the lips for a softer, smoother, more plum lip!” Here are some of the variant products that some other “charmers” could have received…
I’m pleased with the version of products that I got in my box this month. Out of the available variation products, the only other item I would have liked to have received is the Seraphine Botanicals – Sugar + Lemon – Moisturizing Lip Buffer. Otherwise, I’m not really interested in the other items that were possible this month.
What about you? Do you get BoxyCharm? Did you get something different than I did? Do you get any other monthly subscription bags/boxes that are worth trying out? Let me know in the comments below.

Sometimes I fall asleep on the couch before I have washed my makeup off. It could be so tempting to go right to bed without washing my face…
Never go to bed with makeup on! Your skin with thank you and you will be glad that you did. A little bit of extra time at night is totally worth it! My morning makeup application takes me half the time it used to because my skin is so healthy.
This is the make up I was wearing during the day. This is how easily my waterproof makeup wiped off.
It’s thick and feels a little greasy as it rubs into the skin. As I gently rub it on, my makeup literally melts right off! No scrubbing, no harsh rubbing, just melts right off!
I use a damped old face cloth to wipe off the cream from my face and then rinse my face with warm water.

Today’s tip is about trying out new products that don’t work out for you:
This tip might seem so simple, but if a beauty product doesn’t work for you, don’t keep it! Keep your receipts, most drugstores and Ulta/Target/Walmart will let you return used beauty products as long as you have the receipts.

Today’s tip is about trying out new products one at a time:
It is so exciting to buy new beauty products! When trying out new things, start with one product at a time! After you have used the product for a full three days to one week introduce something new.
Too many new things all at once might cause irritation to the skin. If you use one product at a time and have skin issues, you will know which new thing is breaking you out or irritating your skin. You can then easily eliminate that product from your routine.

Looking someone in the eyes and giving a simple smile and saying hello can do great things for a person! You never know if they may feel invisible. Acknowledging someone might be a small act, but there is great power in a simple smile.
Take time today to think about those around you and share a smile.
I love the message in this song The Smallest Thing by Frances
I didn’t notice the crying man, too busy with me
I didn’t stop for a moment to help the woman on her knees
I didn’t hear the cry for help behind her polite “hello”
I only saw the gentle smile that hid the scars below
It’s easy when for you the sun is shining
How could I have been so blind?
How could I miss so much?
Just a word from me
The smallest thing
Could have been enough Why didn’t I give some time? Why didn’t I spare some love?
Just a smile from me
The smallest thing
Could pick the pieces up
The smallest thing
I didn’t take the time to ask if everything’s okay
When everyone else walked on by, I just did the same
I’ve been counting problems but the truth is I was fine The people I’ve ignored each day feel pain much worse than mine
It’s easy when for you the sun is shining
How could I have been so blind?
How could I miss so much? Just a word from me The smallest thing Could have been enough
Why didn’t I give some time?
Why didn’t I spare some love?
Just a smile from me
The smallest thing
Could pick the pieces up
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh
It’s easy when for you the sun is shining
How could I have been so blind?
How could I miss so much?
Just a word from me
The smallest thing
Could have been enough
Why didn’t I give some time?
Why didn’t I spare some love?
Just a smile from me
The smallest thing
Could pick the pieces up
