What? It is March and I am just posting my February ipsy glam bag! I got this ipsy bag mid February, and then left for vacation a few minutes later (of course I took a bunch of photos of it first, haha). I had such an amazing vacation and completely forgot to write a post about my ipsy.

This month’s bag is super cute! The material is jean with orange cording around the edge and a lip shaped zipper pull. This time my son took one look at it and said “It’s mine!” His favorite color is orange, so I let him have it.

This brand’s formulas are completely vegan and packed with good-for-your-skin, natural ingredients. The minty scent is nice and refreshing. I have been using this since I got it and have really enjoyed the way it makes my skin feel. I have received a few other products from BeFine and, so far, I really like this brand overall.

Elizabeth Mott Whatup Beaches Matte Bronzer

Matte bronzers always look more natural than shimmery ones. It has a really nice neutral brown shade and feels soft and silky, but seriously Could this bronzer sample be any smaller? Trying to use this on my face will take me forever! I think I will use it as an eyeshadow. Possibly it could make a nice transition shade…

IBY Beauty Highlighter in Bubbly

I have never heard of this brand before? Have any of you? When I first saw this I thought, just what I need another tiny coral blush sample, but I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it is a beautiful highlighter.

This peachy pink powder can be used as a highlighter or an eye shadow, or even dabbed on lips. I have been enjoying it so far this month. I feel like it gives a great glow without being too over the top. I like to wear highlighter, but I prefer it to be a more subtle glow from within than a ba-bam in your face highlight.

I have mentioned before that I both love and hate getting brushes in my ipsy bags. I have gotten some awesome brushes that I use on a daily basis, and then I have gotten some that I have never used. I have a few Luxie brushes and I enjoy them. This one is super soft and the bristles are vegan, synthetic, and cruelty-free. They call this a blush brush, but I don’t know…I haven’t decided yet how I am going to use it…I also haven’t used it yet that isn’t really a good sign.

When I first saw this lipstick I thought, great another bright red lipstick in a shade I will never wear. Then I put it on… I was shocked by how much I love it! I am so picky with the formula of lipsticks that I will wear. This one is smooth and glossy and comfortable. It doesn’t dry out my lips at all and wears off evenly. This is the only lipstick that I brought on vacation with me and I wore it the entire time we were away. It also leaves a bit of a stain on my lips. I will definitely be purchasing more of these Butter lipsticks from NYX.

How ’bout Them Samples Review

I am still going strong with not buying new beauty items!

Since I started doing this several months ago, I have really enjoyed using up and trying out these samples. It has really helped me to not make any unnecessary beauty purchases!

Throughout this experiment, I have found a few great products that I have fallen in love with and added into my beauty routine.

Here is my review of this group of samples that I have been trying out this time around…

Biore Charcoal Pore Strips

Thankfully blackheads isn’t a huge issue for me personally. That being said, I still really love these types of poor strips. This one worked great. My pores definitely looked a lot clearer after using this strip.

A package of 6 strips costs around $5.50. ($0.91 each strip)

YES, based on the samples, I would purchase the Biore Charcoal Pore Strips.

Cetaphil Gentile Skin Cleanser

Personally, I love CeraVe cleansers, when given the choice between CeraVe and Cetaphil, I would usually choose CeraVe. That being said, I haven’t tried many of the newer Cetaphil products.

This little gentle cleanser is really great! I like the way it left my skin feeling clean but not tight and dry. Keep in mind that this is a facial cleanser and not a makeup remover. It doesn’t do a great job at removing makeup.

$10 for a 16 oz bottle and $3 for this small 1 fl oz sample/travel size.

YES, based on the samples, I would purchase the Cetaphil Gentile Skin Cleanser

Clear Scalp and Hair Therapy Total Care Shampoo and Conditioner

I LOVE this shampoo and conditioner! The claim on the bottle is “Stronger more beautiful hair in 7 days.” I believe it! I could feel a difference in my hair after using these products for several days in a row.

The shampoo has a wonderful fresh macintosh apple scent that lasted all day. While the conditioner didn’t smell quite as good, it worked so well that I can excuse it for the lack of beautiful scent.

If I didn’t already have so many other shampoo/conditioners to get through, I would have already purchased these. I liked them that much!

Each product is priced around $6 each for a 22 oz bottle.

Covergirl Intensify Me Lash Blast Liquid Eyeliner

This product claims to have the control of a pencil with the intensity of a liquid liner. It also has a paddle tip that can be thick or thin depending on which side of the tip is used.

I had really good intentions to try out this eyeliner which is why I put it into my sample pile… but I have so many other black liquid eyeliners opened right now, it would just be wasteful for me to open up another one. So, nope, I haven’t used this one yet. $7 for .034 fl oz liner.

Eco Tools Makeup Brush Cleansing Clothes

I was so excited about these clothes. I was hoping that they would be such a great product…yeah, nope. The idea is a good one, but the actual product just doesn’t work well enough to get the desired accomplishment. The wipes are a great size but are just kinda damp, not wet enough to really clean off the brushes

I think that it is a really great idea… I don’t know if my expectations were just too high, but I didn’t love the way that these worked.

Hello Mojito Mint Floride Toothpaste

I have super super super sensitive teeth! There are several kinds of toothpaste that are just too abrasive for me to use. This Hello Mojito Mint Fluoride Toothpaste didn’t bother my teeth at all. It has a very different yet pleasant flavor. It really has a limey minty taste to it. I really enjoyed using this toothpaste. I got several days out of this .75 oz sample.

NSPA Coconut Rich Body Butter by Nirvana Spa

Have you ever heard of this brand before? I have never heard of it before, so I don’t really know anything about it other than what I know from this body butter sample.

The packaging says “Warning: our products are so fruity and juicy you might be tempted to eat them. Well don’t, they are not food.” I thought that was pretty cute and funny…

As far as the product itself, I was underwhelmed. The texture of the butter was good, thick and creamy, but it just didn’t leave my skin feeling hydrated. The scent was only ok. Instead of having the nice natural coconut flavor like I expected and like what I am used to, it smelled fake and manufactured.

I have been using it on my heels on my feet. It does work pretty well for that.

At a price of $18 for 200 ml, I can definitely find a better product at a much better price.

Nope, based on the samples, I would not purchase the NSPA Coconut Rich Body Butter

S.W. Basics Exfoliant

This is an all-natural exfoliant. It is made of organic oat and almond flours and mineral-rich sea salt. Due to the all natural organic ingredients, I really wanted to like this product.

I got two tries out of this sample size. I definitely didn’t enjoy it either time. Instead of exfoliating my face it basically just turned into mush on my skin. Kinda weird.

A 0.7 oz bottle costs $12 and a 3 oz bottle is $24.

Nope, based on the samples, I would not purchase the S.W. Basics Exfoliant.

Clean and Clear Deep Action 60 Second Shower Mask

It was recently my birthday, (Happy birthday to me!) and since it was my birthday, I ate a lot of junk! Like, a lot of junk…!

Due to eating more sugar, candy, and junk than usual, my skin has been a mess! When my breakouts are typically along my jawline when they are sugar related. I hate having skin issues from sugar!

Anyway, long story short, I used this Clean and Clear Deep Action 60 second shower mask every day for about a week and my skin started looking awesome again in no time!

I have normal to combo skin, and I can use this mask in the shower every day without any issues or irritation.

When first applied it feels great! There is a wonderful tingling sensation. It’s probably all in my head, but because of the sensation, I can feel it working deep down in my pores!

Only a small amount of the mask is needed. Less than a dime size is more than enough to apply over my entire face. After applying the mask all over my face I let it sit on my face while I wash my hair and body. I love that I can to more than one thing at a time and not waste time waiting for the mask to work. After I finish washing up, I gently massage my face with the exfoliating beads and then rinse it all off. My face feels soft and smooth and cool from the menthol.

When I first started using this I thought that one thing I would change would be that it had more exfoliating beads in it. Although, since it is for daily use, it is probably better that it has fewer and is a gentler exfoliator.

Just to warn you, this product has alpha hydroxy acid in it which can increase sensitivity to the sun. If you are fair skinned like me and burn in the sun, you will want to be extra careful! Personally, I have found that sunscreen doesn’t even help when I have used a product with AHA in it. If I know that I am going to be spending time in the sun in the future, I will usually stop using a product with AHA in it two weeks in advance.

The 1 oz tube samples lasted me about 2 weeks, and a 5 oz bottle lasts me about 2 months of everyday use.

A 5 oz bottle of this Clean and Clear Deep Action 60 second shower mask costs around $5. (worth every penny in my opinion.)

I have used two 1 oz samples and an entire full sized bottle. I have also already purchased a second full-size bottle, so obviously, I really like this stuff!

Ipsy January 2017 Glam Bag

A whole year has flown by and it is already 2017! I cannot believe how quickly 2016 seemed to go by. Here we are already at January and another review of the ipsy glam bag.

January’s theme is “Metropolis”

“A Day in the Life of a City Babe Coffee? Check. Lip gloss? Check. Taxi fare? Check. Here, everything you need to own the concrete jungle.”

This month’s bag is super cute! The material it is a double layer with pale blue metallic faux leather with small circular cut out pattern on top with a silver solid faux leather below. According to the ipsy website “This silver stunner was inspired by skyscrapers! Wear it uptown, downtown, or wherever you’ll be slaying this month.”

Here is what I got in my bag for January:

clariSEA Instant Glow Lavender Powder Exfoliant 1 oz

Because of this being a loose powder, this exfoliator can be made as intense or as gentle as I want it to be. It is made by adding equal amounts of the salt to my cleanser. If I want to sprinkle in a little more powder I can get a little more exfoliation. It says that it can also be mix with water as well for a stronger scrub.

It is made with two types of salt, Pacific and Himalayan pink sea salt, and it smells like lavender. Pretty interesting, I can’t wait to try it out!

Naked Cosmetics Mica Pigment in Desert Sunset #02 .05 oz/1.5gm

This is such a beautiful vivid loose pigment! It is a gorgeous shimmery champagne shade that has tiny sparkles in it. I am a huge sucker for sparkles!

This product is made with no talc, oils, waxes or fillers. Swatches just don’t even do this eyeshadow justice! It is just so beautiful. I am already in love!!!

Pacifica BLUSHIOUS in Wildrose 3 grams

First off let me add that I am completely NOT complaining about getting this blush because it is absolutely beautiful! Secondly, ipsy thinks that my makeup collection needs lots of liquid eyeliners and coral blushes, because I get one or the other in my glam bag each month. (This is my 6th coral blush from ipsy.)

I love blush and use it every day…I may still need to retake the quiz and let them know that I am all set with blushers for now.

This shade is beautiful and it goes on a little lighter than it looks in the pan. Another great thing about this blush is that Pacifica’s products are all are 100% vegan, gluten- and cruelty-free.

Rimmel London Lip Conditioning Balm by Kate Moss 0.13 oz

You may remember that I have a thing for good lipglosses, chapsticks and lip balms. Of course, I put it on immediately after opening my glam bag. This is a delightful lip balm! Soft, creamy, and moisturizing. My lips feel smoother and healthier while wearing this balm. It has just the faintest sweet scent, not too much at all.

Smashbox Cosmetics Camera Ready BB Cream SPF 35 in Light or Light Medium .25 fl oz / 7.1 ml

So far everything that I have tried from Smashbox has been great! I haven’t used this bb cream yet, but I love bb creams, so I have high hopes for this one.

Formulated without: parabens, sodium lauryl sulfate, phthalates, oil, fragrance & talc

Walmart Beauty Box Winter 2017

Did you know that Walmart has it’s own a subscription beauty box? Yup, they do! It is a quarterly box and only costs $5 a season.

Walmart technically calls it a “sample box” and says that the box itself is free and the $5 is a flat rate for shipping and handling. Either way, the box costs $5 each season.

In your Walmart Beauty Box, you can expect to find around 7-9 samples. Sometimes there are even a few full sized makeup samples.

Wait for you confirmation email
Enjoy your beauty box when it arrives

The Walmart beauty box website says

“Each subscriber will be charged upon receiving an order confirmation (locking in your box for the season).

There are two different types of boxes available, the classic and the trendsetter. Up until recently, only one box could be sent per email address, but that has been changed. I now recieve both boxes.

Over all, I think that this was just an ok set of boxes! The Trendsetter was definitely the better of the two. Compared to last season’s boxes, and previous boxes, I wasn’t overly impressed. (see the photos below)

Another month has flown by and tomorrow is Christmas! I love Christmas, what a wonderful time of year! Family, parties, food, fun, and cookies (you know I love cookies!)

Almost all the ladies that I work with now subscribe to ipsy. I always loving seeing what everyone else received in their bags. It is like opening a shiny pink wrapped gift every month!

December’s theme is “carpe p.m.” Forget rules, responsibilities, and to do lists. Right now, there’s only fun! Decide to live in the moment.

While I have heard many people disagree with me, I think that this months bag is super cute! The material a fuzzy furry pink material. It is a nice rectangular shape with the zipper across the top. This one has a little pull handle and it is supposed to double as a wristlet clutch “perfect for all your holiday events”!

As usual my daughter took one look at the bag and said “I want it!” As usual I told her we can share it.

This blush trio is very smooth and pigmented. I really like that all three of the shades included are matte. It seems as if most blushes have some sort of sparkle in them. While they are beautiful on their own, I have been wearing all three colors swirled together. Another great thing about this blush it is also cruelty free! Colors included are fresh melon, blackberry and guava. How cute that they have fruit related names.

Ultra-fine pressed powders are unbelievably simple to blend, so we can go from peekaboo

Fresh Melon is a perfectly sweet pink. Blackberry teases with a hint of mauve. And Guava adds some peach flavor. All three shades look stunning on any skin tone.

Hikari Cosmetics Felt Tip Liquid Eyeliner in Iris

When I first saw this I was not happy at all! I have gotten so many black eyeliners in my recent ipsy bags. I was planning to pass it along to a coworker. Come to find out, this liquid liner is actually purple. I will be keeping this one and giving her another unopend one that I have.

Late-night party ready. Goes on smooth and won’t smudge.
A stiff upper tip. Pointed end doesn’t bend or wiggle, so we can create incredibly precise lines.
Pigmented enough to give color with one coat. But we like to intensify the hue by layering it.

NYX Professional Makeup Prismatic Shadow in Fireball

I think that ipsy has decided that this is the color of eye shadow that I need to be wearing. The last 6 eyeshadows that they have sent me have been some form of this shade. That’s ok, I like eye shadow and I like this color with my eyes.

This shadow is so pigmented! It has super rich color with a metallic shimmer in just this one single swipe. This eye shadow formula is awesome! Smooth and creamy. I don’t know why I haven’t heard more about these NYX shadows. Have any of you tried these?

This stuff smells amazing! Because it was hard and frozen from being outside in my mail, I thought it was going to be the consistency of coconut oil. In actuality it is more like a gel. I haven’t used it yet, but I am looking forward to trying it out.

I have heard really good things about this oil, so I am really excited about trying it! During the winter months I add a drop or two of oil to my foundation, so I will definitely get some good use out of this oil in the next few winter months.

Oils can seem scary (um hello! who wants to look greasy?!) but this multitasker left our skin quenched, nourished, and dewy—not shiny. You’ll want to have a bottle on you at all times.

Use it for a zillion other things like frizz-fighting, on-the-go manis, makeup removal

Over all I really like this month’s bag! I can’t wait to see what is to come in 2017!

Ipsy November 2016 Glam Bag

Another month has flown by and November is half way over already! If you are from the USA, can you believe that it is already Thanksgiving next week?! Especially since I forgot to post October’s ipsy glam bag until the beginning of November it really seems as if the month flew by even faster!

November’s theme was “Rockstarlet: Rock out like a knockout”

This months bag is super cute! The material it is a thick sturdy smooth cotton with makeup inspired constellations on it. Ipsters either got black and silver or the one like I received blue and gold. It is a nice shape. I like that the zipper is across the top and how cute is it that the zipper pull is a star?! As usual my daughter took one look at the bag and said “I want it!” I told her we can share it, but I don’t plan to actual share it, haha. 😉

Doucce Freematic Blush in #49 Zen Orange

The package it came in was quite large, but this sample is actually tiny! I have gotten several orange/coral blushes in my glam bags recently. I generally always wore more pink toned blushes, but having since tried these coral colored blushes I really like the way they look on me.

Skone Cosmetics Brow Wand Eyebrow Pencil in Chocolate

When I first saw this in my bag I thought it was ANOTHER black eyeliner. I only now when taking the picture for this post just realized that it is a brown pencil. I already have a pretty decent brow routine, so I will probably pass this along to my sister.

theBalm Cosmetics Mad Lash Mascara

The packaging is annoying the way that the top fits into the tube. As you might be able to tell from the below picture it kind of clicks into the tube (it reminds me of the Tartiest sample mascara). Due to the way the packaging is it makes it hard to be able to get the excess mascara off the brush . ~Weekly Product Highlight~Vaseline Intensive Care Advanced Repair Unscented Lotion

This is one of the best hand lotions that I have used in a long time! It sinks into the skin quickly without leaving a greasy feel to the skin. Most of the dry skin lotions I have used before are either tacky and sticky or greasy. The finish of this lotion is very smooth.

For use through out the day I like to use lotions without a scent, and this lotion really is unscented as it claims to be.

As a nurse and mother I was my hands so many times a day. My hands get so sore and dry especially this time of year when it is colder. I have used this vaseline lotion consistently for a few weeks now and the results are amazing! My skin feels moisturized and healthy, not sore or irritated at all.

A 10 oz bottle costs around $3.50 and a 1 oz sample sized tube can be purchased for around $1 USD.

Ipsy October 2016 Glam Bag

Another month has flown by and it is now November and I cannot believe that I completely forgot to post what I got in my October ipsy glam bag!

I don’t know about you, but I always loving seeing what everyone else received in their bags every month, so I decided to post it anyway even though it is almost time for my next bag to arrive.

October’s theme was Make Some Magic

This months bag is super cute! Valfré’s drawings custom designed this month’s bag.The material it is a sturdy textured light pink faux leather with makeup inspired Halloween pictures on it. I like that the zipper is across the top and it is a nice shape. My daughter took one look at the bag and said “This one is mine!” I told her we can share it 😉

Beaute BasicsSatin Taupe Eye Shadow

It is super soft and creamy texture. It goes on smooth and is super blendable, you can build up the color as well as making it look smokey. I have already worn this eyeshadow several times and I really like it.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation

I received it in the shade 117=Y225 (Marble) which looks as if it is going to be a good match for me.

Here is the thing about this foundation… I haven’t used it yet, I am super excited about receiving it, but I am afraid that I am going to love it and then want to spend $43 on buying the full size of this foundation. Haha, I just might be crazy…

This is a superfine eyeliner pen that is waterproof and smudge proof. It has a pointed tip that makes it simple to get into the spaces between the lashes.

So, yeah, I have gotten a black eyeliner in my ipsy bag for 5 of the last 7 months…oh well, I guess it is a good thing I like eyeliner and wear it every day.

I love chapstick! Well, let me rephrase that, I love smooth, creamy, not waxy, not sticky chapsticks. I really love this one. It smells sweet and fruity, kinda like a pina colada. I was in love at first swipe. It makes my lips feel so nice and moisturized!

BeFine Food Skin Care Exfoliating Cleanser

This exfoliator smells like sweet caramel almonds. It lathers up very nicely and has larger sugar granules that melt away pretty quickly. I generally like a finer grain longer lasting exfoliating experience, but I actually do like this one too. Plus the scent is so nice and yummy I wish I could eat it!

Walmart Beauty Box Fall 2016

Did you know that Walmart has it’s own a subscription beauty box? Yup, they do! It is a quarterly box and only costs $5 a season. Walmart technically calls it a “sample box” and says that the box itself is free and the $5 is a flat rate for shipping and handling. Either way the box costs $5 each season. In your Walmart Beauty Box you can expect to find around 7-9 samples. Sometimes there are even a few full sized makeup samples.

How does it work?

You sign up at https://beautybox.walmart.com/
Create and account
Add your payment and shipping info
Wait for you confirmation email
Enjoy your beauty box when it arrives

If you are first time subscribers: Your subscription will be processed when you sign up and your credit card will be charged $5 and you will receive the current season’s box. Once you are subscribed, you won’t have to resign up, you will receive a shipping confirmation email and then your box will arrive. You’ll only be charged when your Beauty Box is shipped.

The Walmart beauty box website says

There are two different types of boxes available, the classic and the trendsetter. Up until recently only one box could be sent per email address, but that was recently changed. I ordered both boxes.
