Ipsy December 2016 Glam Bag

Another month has flown by and tomorrow is Christmas!  I love Christmas, what a wonderful time of year!  Family, parties, food, fun, and cookies (you know I love cookies!)

Almost all the ladies that I work with now subscribe to ipsy.  I always loving seeing what everyone else received in their bags.  It is like opening a shiny pink wrapped gift every month!

(If you don’t know what ipsy is you can check out my previous post all about it by clicking HERE)

December’s theme is “carpe p.m.” Forget rules, responsibilities, and to do lists. Right now, there’s only fun! Decide to live in the moment.

While I have heard many people disagree with me, I think that this months bag is super cute!  The material a fuzzy furry pink material.   It is a nice rectangular shape with the zipper across the top.  This one has a little pull handle and it is supposed to double as a wristlet clutch “perfect for all your holiday events”!

As usual my daughter took one look at the bag and said “I  want it!”  As usual I told her we can share it.

Here is what I got in my bag for December:

City Color CosmeticsBe Matte Blush in Fresh Melon, Blackberry, and Guava

city color be matte blush | LookingJoliGood.wordpress.com

This blush trio is very smooth and pigmented.  I really like that all three of the shades included are matte.  It seems as if most blushes have some sort of sparkle in them. While they are beautiful on their own, I have been wearing all three colors swirled together.  Another great thing about this blush it is also cruelty free!  Colors included are fresh melon, blackberry and guava.  How cute that they have fruit related names.

citycolorbematteblush

Ultra-fine pressed powders are unbelievably simple to blend, so we can go from peekaboo

  • Fresh Melon is a perfectly sweet pink. Blackberry teases with a hint of mauve. And Guava adds some peach flavor. All three shades look stunning on any skin tone.
  • Mix and match to create custom colors just for you.
  • Can’t stop, won’t stop. Color that takes us from dawn ‘til dusk.

Hikari Cosmetics Felt Tip Liquid Eyeliner in Iris

hikari eye liner | LookingJoliGood.wordpress.com

When I first saw this I was not happy at all!  I have gotten so many black eyeliners in my recent ipsy bags.  I was planning to pass it along to a coworker.  Come to find out, this liquid liner is actually purple.  I will be keeping this one and giving her another unopend one that I have.

eyeliner swatch | LookingJoliGood.wordpress.com

  • Late-night party ready. Goes on smooth and won’t smudge.
  • A stiff upper tip. Pointed end doesn’t bend or wiggle, so we can create incredibly precise lines.
  • Pigmented enough to give color with one coat. But we like to intensify the hue by layering it.

NYX Professional Makeup Prismatic Shadow in Fireball

I think that ipsy has decided that this is the color of eye shadow that I need to be wearing.  The last 6 eyeshadows that they have sent me have been some form of this shade.  That’s ok, I like eye shadow and I like this color with my eyes.

nyx fireball | LookingJoliGood.wordpress.com

This shadow is so pigmented!  It has super rich color with a metallic shimmer in just this one single swipe.  This eye shadow formula is awesome!  Smooth and creamy. I don’t know why I haven’t heard more about these NYX shadows.  Have any of you tried these?

nyx fireball eyeshadow | LookingJoliGood.wordpress.com

  • Go it alone. No primer necessary to turn on the glitz and get a look that lasts.
  • Standout formula. Soft texture makes the shadow easy to blend, without flecks falling onto our cheeks.

ipsters who sample this shadow in their Glam Bag will receive Bedroom EyesFireballJaded or Punk Heart

Symphony Beauty Snow Cream Moisturizer

This stuff smells amazing!  Because it was hard and frozen from being outside in my mail, I thought it was going to be the consistency of coconut oil.  In actuality it is more like a gel.  I haven’t used it yet, but I am looking forward to trying it out.

symphony beauty | LookingJoliGood.wordpress.com

Zero gravity. This weightless whipped gel moisturizer feels as light and fluffy as fresh snow—and has us dreaming of a white Christmas.

  • Instant gratification. Absorbs immediately and leaves our faces looking fresh and hydrated.
  • Cut the grease. No sticky or tacky residue left behind. Just super smooth skin.
  • Oh, do glow on. Vitamin E nourishes and helps brighten up our complexions.

tarte Cosmetics Deluxe Maracuja Oil

I have heard really good things about this oil, so I am really excited about trying it!  During the winter months I add a drop or two of oil to my foundation, so I will definitely get some good use out of this oil in the next few winter months.

tarte maracuja oil | LookingJoliGood.wordpress.com

Oils can seem scary (um hello! who wants to look greasy?!) but this multitasker left our skin quenched, nourished, and dewy—not shiny. You’ll want to have a bottle on you at all times.

  • Packed with complexion heroes like skin-brightening Vitamin C and repairing fatty acids
  • Use it for a zillion other things like frizz-fighting, on-the-go manis, makeup removal
Over all I really like this month’s bag!  I can’t wait to see what is to come in 2017!

Tips and Tricks

Tip Tuesday #44

Here is another tip for Tip Tuesday!

Tip Tuesday Make up tips and tricks every Tuesday | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

This week’s tip is how to avoid that dreaded gap between your eyeliner and eyelashes…

While there is no “wrong way” to do your makeup, and if you like the way that something looks go for it and do what makes you feel pretty!…All that being said…

I remember when I was a junior in college I had a friend that always had a gap in between her eyeliner and eyelash line.  For some strange reason, it seriously drove me nuts!

gap eyeliner | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

When eyeliner is done correctly your lashes will look fuller and your liner will make your eyes stand out.  To achieve this is as simple as wiggling your eyeliner directly into your lash line.  Yup, that is it!   If you need to you can even lift your upper lid and tight lining underneath you lashes.  This way your eyeliner with be an enhancement and not a distraction from you beautiful eyes!

Give Yourself Permission To Enjoy Food

When I decided to make a drastic dietary change in my life, I knew I didn’t want to be on a “diet”.  I wanted to make a lifestyle change that would last forever.  I LOVE to eat.  I go to bed thinking about breakfast and wake up looking forward to all the wonderful things that I am going to eat during the day.

I have given myself permission to enjoy food.

Being able enjoy a special meal with friends and family or have a piece of birthday cake at a party is all part of enjoying life.  I allow myself to go on vacation and fully enjoy foods at restaurants that I will not be visiting again for a long time (or possibly ever). It makes the whole balanced healthy diet attainable for a lifetime, not just to reach a specific goal.  I don’t want what I don’t allow myself to eat to hold me back from living my life.

wp-1459775062985.jpg

Once again it is all about BALANCE.

My diet is balanced and not overly restrictive.  It doesn’t just consist of  spinach, kale, and celery. (although, I do enjoy eating those things.)  Every once in a while I will let myself have a bowl of ice cream or M&M Chocolate Chip cookies.  I enjoy every spoonful and every bite, and I do not make myself feel bad about it.  The key is to not eat the entire pint of ice cream or the whole plate of cookies.

M&M's chocolate chip cookies | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

Eating healthy is not a chore, it takes thought and preparation, but it isn’t a chore.

Since reaching my final goal weight I follow the 80/20% rule. Eighty percent of what I eat is healthy, and I let myself splurge the other 20% of the time.

Consistency is more important than perfection! | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

I love to eat and I love to exercise, but all diet and no exercise is not right, just as all exercise and not eating a healthy diet is also not best.

Trust me I have tried to only exercise and not eat healthy! For 5 years I diligently worked out so hard, 5 days a week, 1- 1.5 hours each day.  During those 5 years I sweat a lot, I got a lot stronger, and I always ate whatever I wanted to. It wasn’t until I improved my diet that I finally started to feel amazing and see all the awesome results I had been trying to achieve with exercise only.

wp-1460239182287.jpg

Giving myself permission to enjoy the food I eat and not make myself feel bad about indulging once in a while has helped me to be successful in the long run…being truly healthy is a marathon, not a 500 meter race.

What about you?  Have you been on a journey from flab to FAB?  Have you made any major lifestyle and diet changes? What do you do to keep yourself on track and accountable?

Tip Tuesday #40

Here is another tip for Tip Tuesday!

Tip Tuesday: Make up tips and tricks every Tuesday | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

Instead of using a pencil, gel, or liquid liner to line the lower lash line use  eye shadow.  Take a small eyeshadow brush and a coordinating eyeshadow and apply it to the outer two-thirds of the lower lash line. Blending the darker color with the inner corner color will create a beautifully seamless look along the lower lash line.  This simple trick will give dimension and depth to the eyes without looking too harsh. Don’t forget to blend blend blend!

Ipsy November 2016 Glam Bag

november ipsy glam bag | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

Another month has flown by and November is half way over already!  If you are from the USA, can you believe that it is already Thanksgiving next week?!  Especially since I forgot to post October’s ipsy glam bag until the beginning of November it really seems as if the month flew by even faster!

Almost all the ladies that I work with now subscribe to ipsy.  I always loving seeing what everyone else received in their bags every month.

(If you don’t know what ipsy is you can check out my previous post all about it by clicking HERE)

November’s theme was “Rockstarlet: Rock out like a knockout”

glam-bag | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

This months bag is super cute!  The material it is a thick sturdy smooth cotton with makeup inspired constellations on it.  Ipsters either got black and silver or the one like I received blue and gold.  It is a nice shape. I like that the zipper is across the top and how cute is it that the zipper pull is a star?!  As usual my daughter took one look at the bag and said “I  want it!”  I told her we can share it, but I don’t plan to actual share it, haha. 😉

Here is what I got in my bag for November:

doucce freemantic blush | Lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

Doucce Freematic Blush in #49 Zen Orange

The package it came in was quite large, but this sample is actually tiny!  I have gotten several orange/coral blushes in my glam bags recently.  I generally always wore more pink toned blushes, but having since tried these coral colored blushes I really like the way they look on me.

blush swatch | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

  • “Buildable and blendable. We swear this is a coral that nobody can mess up.

  • Soft, silky powder glides on evenly every time

  • Goes the distance. Oil-free formula won’t fade or smudge throughout the day.”

nuxe | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

NUXE Nuxellence DETOX

Although makeup is my favorite, I do love getting skin care items in my ipsy glam bags.

  • “Stimulates circulation in our skin and leaves us with a lasting glow

  • Quick fix. Fast-absorbing formula never feels oily.

  • Works for all skin types and all ages”

 skone brow wand | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

Skone Cosmetics Brow Wand Eyebrow Pencil in Chocolate

When I first saw this in my bag I thought it was ANOTHER black eyeliner.  I only now when taking the picture for this post just realized that it is a brown pencil.  I already have a pretty decent brow routine, so I will probably pass this along to my sister.

  • “Retractable pencil. ‘Nuff said.

  • Triangle-shaped tip gives us the ultimate versatility, so we can precisely fill in the smaller sections of our brows as well as the thicker areas

  • For chocolate lovers. Soft brown color is blendable and pigmented.”

the balm mad lash | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

theBalm Cosmetics Mad Lash Mascara

The packaging is annoying the way that the top fits into the tube.  As you might be able to tell from the below picture it kind of clicks into the tube (it reminds me of the Tartiest sample mascara).  Due to the way the packaging is it makes it hard to be able to get the excess mascara off the brush .  I am not sure if it is the same for the full sized mascara, but it is annoying!the balm mascara | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

“So flexible, we think it’s been doing yoga. One of the most bendy wands we’ve ever laid eyes on, it moves easily to hug each and every lash.

  • Curved brush gives uber volume and lift.

  • The tip of the wand is ideally designed to get at even the tiniest of lashes.

  • Into the deep. Rich black shade brings out our dramatic side.”

ofra banana | Lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

OFRA Cosmetics Banana Powder

I don’t usually use a “banana” powder but that is kinda the point of ipsy.  I enjoy getting new things to try out.

  • “Tone it down. Yellow color corrects any redness on our faces.

  • Made-to-fit. Suits any skin tone—from light and fair to dark and deep.

  • Light banana scent has us craving cream pie”

Vaseline Intensive Care Advanced Repair Unscented Lotion

~Weekly Product Highlight~Vaseline Intensive Care Advanced Repair Unscented Lotion

This is one of the best hand lotions that I have used in a long time!  It sinks into the skin quickly without leaving a greasy feel to the skin.  Most of the dry skin lotions I have used before are either tacky and sticky or greasy. The finish of this lotion is very smooth.

For use through out the day I like to use lotions without a scent, and this lotion really is unscented as it claims to be.

As a nurse and mother I  was my hands so many times a day. My hands get so sore and dry especially this time of year when it is colder.  I have used this vaseline lotion consistently for a few weeks now and the results are amazing! My skin feels moisturized and healthy, not sore or irritated at all.

A 10 oz bottle costs around $3.50 and a 1 oz sample sized tube can be purchased for around $1 USD.

Vaseline Intensive Care Advanced Repair Unscented Lotion | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

What does the Vaseline Website have to say about it:

“Clinically proven to moisturize to heal very dry skin in 5 days

  • Fast-healing moisture for when your skin’s dry and rough
  • Relieves even stubborn dry patches
  • Appropriate for sensitive skin
  • Absorbs fast for a non-greasy feel

BEST FOR: SENSITIVE SKIN, DRY SKIN, DRY ITCHY SKIN
