You Won’t Believe What $10 Serum Has Made My Eye Lashes Grow!

Do you remember that time when we were young, wild, and free to travel around without worry? 🤔

Back during that time, I was in Florida visiting my sister. We were on a walk when I noticed that her previously short eyelashes were now noticeably much longer! It wasn’t a new mascara, it wasn’t an expensive eyelash serum with a questionable ingredient list. She had been using cold pressed organic caster oil! 🙌

Obviously, as soon as I got home I purchased it and started using it immediately!

While I haven’t noticed the drastic results on my lashes that she had, I’ve definitely noticed that my lashes, especially the bottom ones, seem longer and thicker. Let me I tell you though, this oil has made my already thick eyebrows grow like crazy! So crazy that I cannot apply it to my brows every night or they become too thick. When have you ever heard someone complaining about a serum working too well? 😲

In the past I’ve used a lot of eyelash serums with various results. The majority have caused some eye or skin irritation. I have been using Teddie organics caster oil for around 9 months and haven’t had any eye issues.
They even sent along a little bottle with a mascara wand. 10/10 recommend.

Tip Tuesday #91: How to apply your highlighter.

Here’s another tip for Tip Tuesday:

Today’s tip is about how to apply your highlighter to get the best results.

You may be using the world’s best makeup, but when it comes right down to it, if you don’t use the correct technique it’s not going to look good on you. Here are my tips on how to get the best results from your highlighter application.

Apply cream highlight before you set your face with powder, and powder highlighter after all of your cream products have already set.
Using a clean brush, makeup sponge, or your fingers, dip into the highlight,
Tap away any excess, it is much easier to apply more than to try to blend out too much highlight.
Sweep onto the high points of the face, as well as the areas you want to draw attention too:
- the tops of the cheekbones
- on your brow bone
- down the bridge of your nose
- on the Cupid’s bow of your lip
- on the inner corners of your eyes
- at the point of your chin
Blend from the high points of the face out.

When done correctly, highlighting can help subtly enhance your facial features. Another benefit of highlighting is giving a radiant glowing lit from within quality to the skin. Highlighting is the opposite of contouring. Contour creates shadows, highlighting does the opposite, it brings forward the area you apply the highlight.

Tip Tuesday #90: How to apply your blush

Here’s another tip for Tip Tuesday:

Today’s tip is about how to apply your blush to get the best results.

I love blush! It is one of the magical makeup products that can be applied quickly and simply, yet will instantly brighten your face. You may be using the world’s best makeup, but the truth is if you don’t use the correct technique it’s not going to look good on you. Here are my tips on how to get the best results from your blush application.

Apply powder blush after all of your cream products have already set.
Using a clean brush, dip your brush into the blush, tap away any excess, and sweep a small amount onto the apples of your cheeks only.
Blend the color up, out, and along the tops of your cheekbones.
If you prefer a bit more of a punch of color, you can also apply your blusher onto the cheeks with a makeup sponge.

By applying your blush to the apples of your cheeks only, you will be drawing the color up giving the face a lifted look. Don’t apply blush below the cheekbone area, unless you want your face to have a drawn down look to it.

Two of my current favorite blushes are TARTE Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush $29 (available in 13 permanent shades and 6 limited edition shades) and the ESSENCE Satin Touch Blush $2.99 (available in only 2 shades)

One of my favorite blush brushes costs less than $2 and comes from the drug store.

Tip Tuesday #89: How to apply your bronzer

Here’s another tip for Tip Tuesday:

Today’s tip is about how to apply your bronzer to get the best results.

I am so pale, therefore, I NEED bronzer! Along with blush and mascara, it is one of those magical makeup products that can be applied quickly and simply, yet will instantly add life to your face.

Here are my tips on how to get the best results from your bronzer application.

Apply powder bronzer after all of your cream products have been set.
Using a clean fluffy brush, dip your brush into the bronzer, tap away any excess, don’t skip this part of the step
Sweep a small amount onto the areas where your skin would naturally pick up sun:
- the top of the cheeks
- on the nose
- across the forehead
- a touch on the chin
Blend the color up and out along the tops of your cheekbones and forehead.
Apply more as needed
Blend, blend, blend!

For shimmery formulas, only apply to the higher points of the face, similar to how you would apply highlighter.

Keep in mind that even if you are using the world’s best makeup, if you don’t use the correct technique it’s not going to look good on you.

Boxy charm is a$21/month/box subscription that includes 5 luxury and indie brand products. Instead of sample sizes like some other subscription boxes/bags, Boxycharm has full sized products. It ships to the US and Canada.
Each month the value of the box is usually over $120. It is a great way to try out different higher priced brands without spending a lot of money. I’ve received products from brands such as Tarte, Cover Fx, Becca, Dr. Brandt, and Bare Minerals.

December’s theme is Glitz and Glam.

I love that they include a card with the product’s info and pricing on it. There are usually a few product variations each month between the boxes that are sent out. This month there were three different possible boxes. I got box number one, as indicated by the number 1 in the lower right-hand corner of the info card.

bellápierre Cosmetics – Pro Concealer Palette $29.99

“BelláPierre’s professional color correcting concealer palette is formulated with rich creamy good for your skin ingredients. Helping create a flawless healthy complexion.”

Thankfully I don’t usually need to color correct my skin, so I’m not into this at all. I would never pay $30 for this, but the box is still a great value despite this being a giveaway product for me. It smells exactly like a box of crayons.

FYI: Orange is great for masking dark circles under the eyes. Green is helpful for diminishing redness, and the purple shade is supposed to help to give brightness to the skin. Remember that if you color correct, you need to have really good high coverage foundation and concealer as well.

Crown Brush – Deluxe Blush Brush $12.00

“With super soft, dense synthetic bristles, this brush can be used with both powder and cream blushes, and provides medium to full coverage for a more dramatic finish.”

It is incredibly soft, but a bit dense to be used as a blush brush. It is still a great brush that I’m sure I will be using for something else.

tarteist™ lash paint mascara $23.00

“A jet-black mascara that has a molded brush that grabs and coats even the tiniest lashes for 2700% more volume.”

Ummm, 2700% more volume? Is that even a measurable amount.

I’m not really a big fan of the brush on this mascara. It is the type that has the stiff plastic bristles. I love tarte! It is probably one of my top 5 all-time favorite makeup brands. The packaging is super sleek! I can’t decide if I love or hate this mascara…when I first put it on my lashes look amazing! Then as the day goes on it just kinda disappears. I don’t know where it goes? It doesn’t flake or smudge, it just vanishes. At work the other day, I looked into the mirror and it looked as if I forgot to apply mascara to my lashes. I was not happy about that! Has anyone else used this mascara and had that happen?

RealHer Blush Kit $32

“Treat your cheeks to a multi-dimensional, natural flush with this RealHer Blush Kit- Be Fearless, Be Limitless”While I personally don’t own anything else from the brand Real Her, I know that they have included products in past Boxycharm boxes. I don’t know how popular this brand is because through Boxycharm is the only other time that I have heard of them.This blush kit features 3 shades: sparkly pink-fearless, matte peach-limitless, and shimmering bronze-unstoppable. They are not very pigmented, but can be built up. So if you are someone that doesn’t like a lot of blush, these would be great fo you!

Pretty Vulgar – My Lips Are Sealed Lightweight Liquid Lipstick $24

“A highly pigmented liquid lipstick that provides a radiant metallic finish, nice comfortable creamy texture, and a citrus cordial flavor.”

Pretty Vulgar has some gorgeous packaging! I feel like their prices are a bit high, but that being said…I’m almost considering buying another one of these liquid lipsticks and I usually hate liquid lipstick.I have fallen madly in love with this My Lips Are Sealed lightweight liquid lipsticks. I have the shade 105 Weeping Willow. It’s a beautiful rosy bronze shade. The formula is so awesome and comfortable. These are available in 8 shades at SephoraOriginally, I was only planning on getting Boxy Charm for three months, I have loved everything so much so far that I signed on for another three months. This is my 5th Boxycharm Box, one more to go. Not sure if I am going to continue after January, I am thinking about trying out FabFitFun next. I’ll keep you posted!

Break them down into individual items, mix and match…add in some delicious and super cute chocolate…Put all these items into a gift bag with some pretty tissue paper and you will have a beautifully personalized gift that took you mere minutes to prepare.You can do this with any type of pre-packaged gift set. There are all kinds available to choose from this time of year: lipstick, nail polish, eyeshadows, lotions and more.

LAQ A & CO. Cloud Lips $17.00

Product Description: An airy matte lipstick that provides full coverage, but feels as light as a cloud. This highly-pigmented lipstick has a matte finish for a long-lasting fluffy, pouty lips that stay put. Surprisingly fluffy, Cloud Lips Airy Matte Lipstick delivers full coverage color for a pillow-soft pout. Available in 4 high-pigment shades, these lipsticks were formulated to last all day without feeling stiff thanks to avocado oil. 🐰 Cruelty Free

The packaging is absolutely beautiful! I have worn this lipstick a few times, and it is actually a decent lipstick, but … it definitely needs a lipliner, definitely stained my lips, definitely dried my lips out. This isn’t a finish or shade that I would choose for myself. Not my favorite thing that I got in this box, but not terrible, I’m so picky when it comes to lip products though. That brings me to the next item in the box…

KNC Beauty Collagen Lip Mask $15.00

Product Description: Innovative jelly mask for your lips that hydrate moisturize and plump your pout with natural ingredients.

This lip mask was nothing like I expected it to be…It was thick pink slimy jelly. It didn’t moisturize my lips at all, but instead made them feel completely numb…weird! Would I pay $5 for one of these masks, nope, will I use the other two, of course, lol!

Cover FX Illuminating Setting Spray 120 ml/4.0 fl oz $31.00

Product Description: A quick-drying setting spray that sets makeup for all-day wear and imparts instant, all-over illumination. It’s alcohol-free, so it’s not drying to the skin. Perfect for all skin tones and types.

I have worn this under and on top of my face makeup every day since I have gotten it. I really like the way it makes my foundation look! It has a fine sparkle to it, not really glitter, but definitely sparkle, I guess that is where the Illumination comes from!

This setting spray has the best spray nozzle that I have ever used! It is so fine and perfect that I can hardly even tell that it is spraying my face. Unfortunately, after using it for a few weeks, it seems as if the sprayer has clogged with the sparkles and I cannot get it to spray anymore. Do I think that makes it worth $31? NO WAY! Am I glad I received it in this box, absolutely!

Luxie Beauty Quad Eye Travel Set $32.00

Product Description: Take your game on the go with this quad travel set created with hand-crafted synthetic brushes.

I love Luxie brushes. They are great quality and super soft. These ones are travel size and perfect for my makeup bag I keep in my purse.

Winkylux Kitten Palette $25.00

Product Description: These ultra-soft shadows glide on like a dream. The universally flattering collection of shades makes this palette as lovable as a kitten. It features highly-pigmented shadows in four finishes: holographic, matte, satin, and glide.Do I need another eyeshadow palette, nope, do I want another eyeshadow palette, absolutely! The shade selection is alike enough that they all coordinate nicely, yet different enough that I have been able to create several completely different eye looks.What I enjoy most about this palette is that it has everything you would need all in one place. Base/transition shades: check, deeper matte crease shades: check, shimmer lid shades: check, highlight/brow bone shades check.

Once again, I’m so happy that I made a switch from ipsy to Boxy charm! The boxes are more expensive, Boxycharm is $21/month/box instead of $10/ month/bag. Boxy Charm has 5 full-sized products instead of 5 sample sized.

Tarte Tarteist Quick Matte Paint $20.00

Product Description: A full coverage, transfer-proof liquid lipstick with a quick-dry matte finish

I absolutely love Tarte, it is probably one of my favorite brands… I do not love these Quick Matte Paint Liquid Lipsticks. I already own one of these in the shade Birthday Suit. It is supposed to be a velvet finish, which means it never fully dries down. Despite not drying the formula makes my lips feel dry while wearing it.

Also, in my opinion, the shades in the Boxycharm boxes are either way too pale, or too orange and brown. No matter which shade I could have gotten they all seem not good for my skin tone. I got the shade Get It, which is described as an apricot nude. It appears to be a light orange in the tube. I’m not even planning to open it or swatch it. Maybe I can find someone else that it’ll work for, it’s definitley not for me.

Jonteblu Lip Liner Pencil $5.00

Product Description: The creamy, highly pigmented formula glides on effortlessly. Can be used for flawless lip contouring, worn alone, or as a long-lasting base for any lip color.

Not really my favorite type of item to receive, but it is a nice formula and a decent neutral brown shade. I received the shade spice, a medium brown shade.

Dirty Little Secrets Eyeshadow Chubby Weight: 3g $14.00

Product Description: This creamy consistency allows you to use it alone as an eyeshadow, or as an eyeshadow base. Bronze eyeshadow crayon with golden undertones. Can be used alone, as a base, or as a highlighter.

The shade is a pretty sparkly translucent peachy pink bronze. The formula is soft and creamy. I have been using it as an eyeshadow base before applying my lid shade. It isn’t the type of thing I would ever wear on its own because, let’s face it, even on my “no makeup” makeup days, I still wear a complete eye look.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter Weight 0.28 oz $38.00

Product Description: Best-selling creamy highlighter powder that will light up the features you love with a high-shine finish.

People were going nutso because this full-sized $38 Becca highlighter was included in the boxes. This pressed highlighter is very finely milled and the golden shade is very pretty. I don’t wear highlighters very often but for a little, added glow, I have been reaching for this one recently. It can easily be as subtle or built up to be as knock out as you want it to be. If I were head over heels for highlighters, I would definitely be excited about getting this one.

dr. brandt PoreDermabrasion Size: 2.0 oz. / 60 g$58.00

Product Description: Pore-perfecting technology at your fingertips, with a professional-grade micro-crystal solution, that instantly deep-cleans and refines pores.

I had received a sample size of this DR.Brandt Pore Dermabrasion in another subscription box. I enjoyed it so much that I considered paying the $58 to buy the full size. I’m glad that I waited, and I’m glad that I received this in this box for $21 without having to pay almost $60 for it.

Originally, I was only planning on getting Boxy Charm for three months, I have loved everything so much so far that I signed on for another three months… No one is surprised I’m sure.

If you cannot find a shade of foundation that perfectly matches your skin and are trying to choose between too light and too dark, go with the lighter of the two. After applying the lighter shade, use bronzer to add depth and life to the high points of your face.
