But… I Really Do Like To Buy More and More New Makeup!

Well, as I have recently mentioned, I have really been trying not to buy new makeup…easier said than done! I really like to browse the makeup aisles! I love to look at all the new things!  I love to get great deals on makeup!  I love to buy all the makeup!

Unfortunately, I don’t have a ton of space to store all the many beauty products that I buy. I have so many makeup products that I have used one or two times and completely forgotten about.  I also have so many awesome products that I don’t give enough love to.  I have decided that I am going to be going on a strict No Buy!  I will be shopping but it will be in my own stash.  Hopefully along the way I will discover some new loves and rediscover some old goodies!

But... I Really Do Like To Buy More and More New Makeup! | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com
I can hear all the beautiful things calling out my name!

Here are my self imposed rules to my No Buy…

  1. I can repurchase a product if I run out of a holy grail product that I always use on a daily basis. (ie my Maybelline Volum’ Express The Colossal  Mascara is running low and I know I am going to have to buy another one soon.)
  2. I can purchase/repurchase hair care and skin care items as they run out and need to be replaced.
  3. Ipsy and Walmart Beauty Subscriptions are not included since they are automatic subscriptions.
  4. Although, Target Beauty Boxes are going to be included in this self imposed No Buy.  I have so many stacked up filled with product samples that I have never used.
  5. When I feel as if I want to buy something new I need to first stop and ask myself “Do I already own something very similar to this product?”
  6. I need to try out and use up products and samples that I already own.
  7. Chapstick/lip balm is a major necessity, so if I see a new one that I really want to try, I can get it…Never mind, that totally goes agains the point of what I am trying to do.  No new chapsticks/lip balms.  I definitely have enough already!

What about you?  How do you decided when to cut back on your spending?  Do you have a monthly makeup budget?  If so how much do you usually spend?

Beauty Subscription · Make up

Walmart Beauty Box Spring 2016

Did you know that Walmart has it’s own a subscription beauty box?  Yup, they do!  It is a quarterly box and only costs $5 a season.  Walmart technically calls it a “sample box” and says that the box itself is free and the $5 is a flat rate for shipping and handling.  Either way the box costs $5 each season.

Walmart Spring Beauty Box | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

Generally the box will have around 5 samples, with 1 or 2 of them being full sized products.  Also in your Walmart Beauty Box, they send 2 or 3 smaller sample beauty products and coupons.

How does it work?

  • You sign up at https://beautybox.walmart.com/
  • Create and account
  • Add your payment and shipping info
  • Wait for you confirmation email
  • Enjoy your beauty box when it arrives

If you are first time subscribers: Your subscription will be processed when you sign up and your credit card will be charged $5 and you will receive the current season’s box.  Once you are subscribed, you won’t have to resign up, you will receive a shipping confirmation email and then your box will arrive.  You’ll only be charged when your Beauty Box is shipped.

The Walmart beauty box website says “Each seasonal Beauty Box is a “limited edition” and may sell out.  Note: Beauty products vary by box.  Only one beauty box per email address.”

Here in the picture below is what I got in this seasons box.

Spoiler alert: I had already been working on a post about the Optic White Colgate toothpaste.  I’m not going to tell you what I think, you’ll just have to wait and see.

This Neutrogena Moisture Smooth Color Stick is quite nice!  The color is great, the consistency is great.  It has a bit of a sweet scent to it, but overall it doesn’t bother me and I am very sensitive to scents.  I have been enjoying using the Curel Rough Skin Rescue lotion.  It is thick but not too greasy.  I don’t really like the scent of the Dove body wash, which is too bad because I really like Dove body wash.  I may have to pass this one along to someone else.  I also love the concept of the Jergens wet skin moisturizer, but the floral scent is just too strong for me.  I think that I am going to pass it along as well.

Over all I think that this was a great box!  For $5 I find that this Walmart beauty box is generally a great deal!  How about you, do you get the Walmart Beauty box?  Did you get the same samples in you box? What do you think?

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer

~Weekly Product Highlight~ Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer~

Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

After seeing so many beauty YouTubes recommend this Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer by Maybelline, I figured I had to at least give it a try, and I am so glad that I did!

I absolutely love this Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer.  It covers and blends so beautifully. I have tried a lot of concealers, and this is the best so far. It gives me the perfect amount of coverage. It does not crease, goes on smoothly and doesn’t leave that white shadow that I hate that some concealers leave.  Also, when and if I decide to bring it down into a triangle onto my face, it doesn’t seep into my pores or fine lines.

It comes in 6 different shades.  Fair, Light, Medium, Honey, Neutralizer, and Brightener.  My favorite so far is 160 Brightener.

Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

One downfall I’ve noticed is that it seems to wear off a little quicker than I would like.  Although, when set with a finely milled under eye powder it seems to last much better.  Also, when necessary, it can be reapplied without causing too much caking or creasing.  Another downfall is that despite having 6 shades, none are really great for darker skin.

I love the design of the packaging.  Since most concealers have a doe foot applicator, it is quite a different application experience from the other concealers that I have used.  Also because of the design of the packaging, it is easier to not go overboard and apply too much.  A little bit does go a long way (another added bonus.)

The Ulta Website give a great description of the way to use it…(which can also be found on the back of the package it comes in.)

“Turn collar of the micro-corrector applicator in direction of arrows until product is visible on sponge. This may require a number of turns. Adjust accordingly for desired amount of product. Using applicator, apply concealer directly to under-eye area, blending in an outward motion. To apply more, twist collar of applicator 1-2 clicks at a time. For best results, use sparingly. For extreme dark circles, apply the neutralizer shade underneath your concealer shade. Use the brightener shade to add a luminous touch to inner corner of eyes, cheek and brow bones and bridge of nose.”

(ps: I don’t know why, but I love the word sparingly, lol!)

What does the Maybelline website have to say about it?…

“Active Formula and Micro-Corrector Applicator erase dark circles, puffiness and fine lines instantly.

Why You’ll Love It

• Micro-Corrector Applicator micro-fills and smoothes.
• Active formula with Haloxyl reduces the look of puffiness and shadows while fading the appearance of under-eye circles.
• Apply neutralizer shade for extreme dark circles.
• Brightener shade adds a luminous touch.

For Best Results

Use applicator to apply concealer directly to under-eye area, blending in an outward motion.  Wipe off excess eye concealer with dry tissue only.  Do not wet applicator.”

Have you ever used this Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer?  What do you think?  Which shade is your favorite?  Let me know in the comment section!

Make Me Up Tag

Makeup is so much fun and it is such a personal thing.  There is no right or wrong way to do it.   I’ve created this “Make Me Up Tag” for a fun way to share what you do.  So, that being said, I’m wondering do you…and why?

Make me Up Tag! | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

I’d love for you to share the “Make Me Up Tag”

  1. Primer or no primer?
  2. Concealer before or after foundation?
  3. Eyes or foundation first?
  4. Brush, beauty blender, or fingers to apply your foundation?
  5. Matte or dewy finish?
  6. Do you curl your eyelashes with an eyelash curler?
  7. Do you wear false lashes or only your natural lashes?
  8. Waterproof or regular mascara?
  9. Liquid, gel, or kohl eyeliner?
  10. Matte or glossy lips?
  11. Natural of false nails?

Here are my answers…

  1. Primer or no primer? depends on the day and which foundation/BB cream I am wearing
  2. Concealer before or after foundation? After
  3. Eyes or foundation first? Foundation first
  4. Brush, beauty blender (sponge), or fingers to apply your foundation? Fingers first then beauty sponge
  5. Matte or dewy finish? Matte
  6. Do you curl your eyelashes with an eyelash curler?  I always have to curl my eyelashes!  They are so sad and straight!
  7. Do you wear false lashes or only your natural lashes? I love the way that false lashes look, but I have never worn them myself
  8. Waterproof or regular mascara?  Always waterproof due to the straight lashes
  9. Liquid, gel, or kohl eyeliner? Usually I wear kohl liner.
  10. Matte or glossy lips? Glossy
  11. Natural of false nails? Natural not even polished.

Now it is your turn!

Naked 2 Review and Swatches

Naked Palette Swatched | lookingjoligood.wordpress.comI have been dreaming of this Naked 2 palette for what seems like forever!  I finally got it this year for Christmas!  I am not going to lie, for several days I didn’t even use it, I just stared at its beauty!  I didn’t want to mess it up by using it.  Since then I have gotten over that and have been loving using this beautiful palette.  I know that since this palette was released in 2011 there are probably a million or more reviews and swatches already, but I just really want to add my own anyway. 😉

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette ($54.00 each shade is 0.05 oz each) contains twelve eyeshadows and a dual ended brush. (The brush is good; it is just like Urban Decay’s full-sized brushes: same size, feel, density, and softness.)

  • Naked Palette Swatched | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com
My skin is so pale that Foxy doesn’t even show up it just blends in. Haha!

Foxy is a pale yellow cream with a matte finish. It’s on the sheer side and a bit powdery. I use it as an underneath base all over the lid or for highlighting the brow.

  • Half Baked is a copper with a golden shimmer. It’s part of the permanent range and is also in the Naked 1 palette.
  • Booty Call is a creamy white/beige champagne  with a satin finish (very similar to Virgin from the original Naked palette) . It’s also similar to MAC Brule as well as Wet N Wild’s Creme Brulee.
  • Chopper is a medium metallic rose gold with silver micro glitters. This shade is permanent. Unfortunately, I notice a bit of sparkly fall out with this shade.
Tease is a matte mushroom taupe with purple undertones. The pigmentation is perfect for a transition crease shade.  Compared to the other shadows it is a bit drier, but it is still great and can easily be built up.  I absolutely love this shadow. I can already tell that I am going to be getting a lot of use out of this shadow.
  • Naked Palette Swatched | lookingjoligood.wordpress.comSnakebite is satin deep bronze with golden shimmer. It has a really buttery texture with excellent pigmentation. Pretty much gorgeous!
  • Suspect is a soft satin light taupe with golden flecks. It has great pigmentation.
  • Pistol is a satin warm steel grey. This is a pretty shade, but probably my least favorite, I tend to like more cool and neutral shades and this one is definitely warmer. The texture is wonderful, soft and smooth.  I have been branching out more recently to do warmer eye looks, so I do plan to play around with this one a bit more.
  • Verve is a pale beige-gray with a pink tinge. This shade was in the Rollergirl palette. Um, Gorgeous!!!  This is one of my favorite and most used shades in this palette.
  • Naked Palette Swatched | lookingjoligood.wordpress.comYDK is a warm, coppery reddish toasty taupe with coppery micro glitters. The pigmentation is awesome, and it has a buttery smooth texture. I can’t decide if I like Verve or YDK the best.  Both are absolutely beautiful!  When applied to the lids, both give a beautiful sparkle to the eyes.
  • Busted is a plummy dark brown burgundy-tinted, deep brown with warm, golden undertones. It has a soft, frosted satin finish. The color payoff is good and the texture is smooth. I tend to get a bit of fall out with this shade, but I think darker shades always tend to have more noticeable fallout. (I actually love to use this shadow to fill in my eyebrows.  The slight sparkle is perfect for making it look just like my eyebrow hair.)
  • Blackout is a really intense, deep dark black with a matte finish. It has really great payoff and goes on very black.  Be so careful when applying, the fall out is CrAzY!.

Matte shades: Foxy, Tease, Blackout,

Satin shades: Booty Call, Snake Bite, Suspect, Pistol, Busted

Glitter/metallic shades:Half Baked, Verve, Chopper, YDK,

Naked Palette Swatched | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com
Suspect, Pistol, Verve, YDK, Busted, Blackout Naked Palette Swatches taken with the flash.

Girls!  I have a whole new respect for all of these bloggers/vloggers that take awesome photos of their swatches.  Good job ladies, it is a lot harder than it looks!

Do you have the Naked 2 Palette?  What do you think?  Which is your favorite shade?  Do you own any of the other Naked Palettes?  Which do you have?  Which is your favorite? Do you recommend any others over the Naked 2?

Here in the picture below is what I got in this seasons box.  I wasn’t overly impressed with this seasons box.  I have already received both the Neutrogena face wash and the Pure Silk shave gel in previous Walmart beauty boxes. Usually there is at least one or two full sized makeup products, but this time there was only lotions and hair stuff.  Oh well, they can’t all be winners.

Mirrors and Lighting

I am in desperate need of some new jeans! I had today off of work and decided to go shopping.
If I were the owner of a clothing store, I would make the lighting and mirrors in the dressing rooms as absolutely flattering as possible. Make it so that we look like we are in a real life Instagram filter.  Why is it that instead, all the dressing rooms are set up to induce suicide?
No luck today, I still need the jeans!  Maybe I will order some online and try them on in my own mirror and lighting!
