Have you ever been watching a Beauty YouTube video and thought to yourself, “Wow, that sounds so great, I NEED to go get that!”? Yup, me too, I definitely have!
Sometimes these YouTube recommended items are “Winners”, and sometimes…”Not So Much”.
Here are a few things that YouTube Made Me Buy…
**Of course, just because some of these products didn’t work out for me doesn’t mean that they aren’t great products. Makeup is such a personal thing, and I still take recommendations from Beauty YouTubers.**
Aussie 3 Minute Miracle
I LOVE this! It really is a 3 minute miracle, it is awesome. I can’t quite place my finger on the scent to describe it, I don’t know, maybe a sweet citrus vanilla/orange creamsicle scent. I don’t know if that really describes it, but I really like it. It leaves my hair feeling super soft and healthy. I have already repurchased this three times since I originally tried this one back in September.
In my opinion, Aussie 3 Minute Miracle gets a rating of Winner!
Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara
Beauty YouTubers rave about this mascara! I am a big fan of Maybelline mascaras so I thought that with all the hype surrounding this one I was bound to love it. NOPE! I don’t like this mascara at all, not even one little bit. I hate the brush, I hate the formula and I hate that it smudged all over my upper lids. The few times that I wore it I looked like a hot mess!
For me, this mascara gets a rating of “Not so much”
Yup, it smells like your grandmother, but it’s been around since 1935 for a reason!
Coty Airspun powder
If you can get over the overly excessive perfume scent of this powder then you are in for a great product! I love the way this powder applies and how it lasts. I am very sensitive to the way things smell, and despite the scent, I love it. Now that I have been using it for a while, I don’t even notice the way that it smells.
Rating of Winner!
CeraVe Moisturizing Cream
This is going way way back in my YouTube watching. The first beauty YouTuber that I ever consistently watched was Huda Katan of Huda Beauty. (I wrote a whole post about her, she’s awesome!) She has beautiful skin and she highly recommended this CeraVe Moisturizing Cream. I purchased it on her recommendation and have been a believer ever since!
Rating of Winner!
Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipstick, Will You Be With Me? 503C
Look at that color! It is beautiful! I think that this shade will work beautifully on so many different skin tones and shades. So many Beauty YouTubers have talked about this shade of WnW lipstick, and for only $0.99 USD it is a real steal. On the down side this lipstick does tend to dry out the lips, but nothing a bit of balm can’t cure.
Rating of Winner!
Lorac Pro Palette
I could go on and on and on about this palette. I actually don’t think that YouTubers give enough love to the LORAC brand. Everything from Lorac that I have ever tried has been amazing. I LOVE my Lorac Pro Palette! If you are planning on splurging on something special I highly recommend this absolutely wonderfully beautiful palette. Read more about what I love about this palette by clicking HERE.
Rating of Double Extra Winner!
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer
NOPE! I have given this concealer so many chances! I don’t know if I just got a bad one, but it has never worked for me! It is thin and watery yet it creases and just makes my under eye area look crepey. I definitely don’t want to bring more attention to the wrinkles under my eyes! I have heard so many YouTubers talk about how awesome this concealer is, so I am sad that it didn’t work out for me.
Rating of Not So Much.
On the other hand, that brings me to the next item that YouTube made me buy…
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Concealer + Treatment in brightener-
I may not like the Fit Me concealer, but this Age Rewind concealer has never let me down! I love the smooth consistency and the easy application. I really love the way it just melts into my skin making my under eye area look smooth and fresh. I wrote a whole post about it that you can read by clicking HERE.
Rating of Winner!
Loreal Voluminous Volume Building Mascara Blackest Black
I hate this mascara! Possibly due to the fact that I got it in waterproof, I’m not sure. I don’t know if the regular formula is better, but considering how highly recommended this mascara is, I am guessing that must be the case. The waterproof one is terrible! It is clumpy and thick, it made my eyelashes look terrible!
Rating of Not So Much
eos Lip Balm in Vanilla Mint
I REALLY wanted to like this lip balm! The packaging is so cute and I love the idea of it. But it is just not good. Instead of moisturizing, it actually makes my lips feel dryer and also gives my daughter a rash around her mouth. I didn’t even finish this one, it was that bad.
Definitely a rating of Not So Much
What about you? Have you purchased things solely based on recommendations from YouTubers? I’d love to hear what you have bought and whether or not it worked out for you!
*I bought all of these with my own money. As always, all the opinions are all my own.
The new boxes are NOT on sale yet, so this page currently says “Sold Out.” Don’t worry, you haven’t missed it yet!
The launch date of this beauty box hasn’t been announced yet, but I have a feeling that it will probably be on Monday, since that seems to be when they usually go live.
What do you think of the products in this months box? Will you be trying to get this moths box? I haven’t gotten the last few Target Boxes, but I think that this one looks pretty good! I love Pantene and CeraVe and Laneige. Surprisingly, I don’t own any CoverGirl lipsticks, so hopefully it is a good color.
~Weekly Product Highlight~ Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer~
After seeing so many beauty YouTubes recommend this Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer by Maybelline, I figured I had to at least give it a try, and I am so glad that I did!
I absolutely love this Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer. It covers and blends so beautifully. I have tried a lot of concealers, and this is the best so far. It gives me the perfect amount of coverage. It does not crease, goes on smoothly and doesn’t leave that white shadow that I hate that some concealers leave. Also, when and if I decide to bring it down into a triangle onto my face, it doesn’t seep into my pores or fine lines.
It comes in 6 different shades. Fair, Light, Medium, Honey, Neutralizer, and Brightener. My favorite so far is 160 Brightener.
One downfall I’ve noticed is that it seems to wear off a little quicker than I would like. Although, when set with a finely milled under eye powder it seems to last much better. Also, when necessary, it can be reapplied without causing too much caking or creasing. Another downfall is that despite having 6 shades, none are really great for darker skin.
I love the design of the packaging. Since most concealers have a doe foot applicator, it is quite a different application experience from the other concealers that I have used. Also because of the design of the packaging, it is easier to not go overboard and apply too much. A little bit does go a long way (another added bonus.)
The Ulta Website give a great description of the way to use it…(which can also be found on the back of the package it comes in.)
“Turn collar of the micro-corrector applicator in direction of arrows until product is visible on sponge. This may require a number of turns. Adjust accordingly for desired amount of product. Using applicator, apply concealer directly to under-eye area, blending in an outward motion. To apply more, twist collar of applicator 1-2 clicks at a time. For best results, use sparingly. For extreme dark circles, apply the neutralizer shade underneath your concealer shade. Use the brightener shade to add a luminous touch to inner corner of eyes, cheek and brow bones and bridge of nose.”
(ps: I don’t know why, but I love the word sparingly, lol!)
“Active Formula and Micro-Corrector Applicator erase dark circles, puffiness and fine lines instantly.
Why You’ll Love It
• Micro-Corrector Applicator micro-fills and smoothes. • Active formula with Haloxyl reduces the look of puffiness and shadows while fading the appearance of under-eye circles. • Apply neutralizer shade for extreme dark circles. • Brightener shade adds a luminous touch.
For Best Results
Use applicator to apply concealer directly to under-eye area, blending in an outward motion. Wipe off excess eye concealer with dry tissue only. Do not wet applicator.”

Have you ever been using a drugstore product and thought to yourself, “Hmmm this reminds me of…(insert high end product name)” or vice versa with a high end product?
Did you know that many of the high end companies we love are actually owned by one of the well known drugstore cosmetic companies?
YSL, Lancome, Georgio Armani, and Urdan Decay all have the same parent company L’Oreal.
Even Essie and EM by Michelle Phan and many more are owned by L’Oreal. I love L’Oreal, it is one of my favorite drugstore make up brands. You may remember that I also love Maybelline, it is also owned by L’Oreal.
Here is a list of the companies that are owned by L’Oreal:
L’Oréal Technique
L’Oréal Professionnel, (including ARTec and Innate)
Kérastase (created by L’Oreal in 1964)
Kéraskin Esthetics, (created by L’Oreal in 2007 and specializing in skin care professionals.)
Matrix Essentials, (founded by Arnie Miller in 1980 and acquired by L’Oreal in 2000.)
Mizani, (founded in 1991 and bought by L’Oreal in 2001.)
PureOlogy Research, (founded in 2001 and acquired by L’Oreal in 2007.)
Redken 5th Avenue NYC, (founded by Paula Kent and Jheri Redding in 1960 and acquired by L’Oreal in 1993.)
“L’Oréal no longer tests on animals any of its products or any of its ingredients, anywhere in the world. Nor does L’Oréal delegate this task to others. The rare exception allowed is if regulatory authorities demand it for safety or regulatory purposes.”
Did you know that L’Oreal owned all of these other companies? Are any of your favorite brands owned by L’Oreal?
I am a big fan of Maybelline, they offer so many great makeup products at a reasonable price.
I’m very particular when it comes to the way that lip products feel on my lips. I do not like lipsticks that make my lips feel dry and uncomfortable. I hate it when my lips hurt for days after wearing a lip product. I haven’t found that to be an issue with the Maybelline Lip Sensational Lipsticks. They are so smooth and comfortable to wear. After I tried my first shade I liked it so much that I went back and purchased three more!
When it come to choosing a lipstick shade I always find myself leaning towards mauve. Mauve is a color that can have a wide range of shades. Magnificent Mauve #430 is a lighter pink based mauve, while Mauve It Up #440 is a more purple/blue berry toned mauve. Mauve Mania #450 is a reddish mauve. On the Mauve #445 is my favorite. It has purple/brown under toned and is just beautiful. With its blue tinge it makes my teeth look whiter. There are several other different shades, formulas, and finishes of mauve to choose from the Lip Sensational Lipsticks.
If you are not interested in Mauve, I recommend you check out some of the other 32 Lip Sensational Lipsticks shades. They are so rich in pigment and creamy in texture! With 32 different shades available from light corals and nudes to deep vampy purple reds, you are bound to find a perfect shade for you.
Have you ever tried any of the Maybelline Lip Sensational Lipsticks? What is your go to lipstick shade? What is your favorite type of lipstick finish? What is your favorite brand of lipstick? Let me know in the comment section below.
If you know me, you know that I love Target! They take all of my paper and mobile coupons, plus they have cartwheel.
Back in October, I bought all of these things at Target and posted a Target Mini Makeup Haul. Since then, I have had time to use some of the products for a while now, and I am ready to give a review on them.
Once again I am going to use the simple “Good Buy” or “Goodbye” rating 😉
Ultimate 10 BB Creme Conditioner and Nature Fusion Moisturizing Shampoo with Melon Essence. I love Pantene! It is my all time favorite shampoo/conditioner brand! Even when I have used other higher end brands of hair care I always end up coming back to Pantene. I am sad to say though that neither of these specific two worked out for me. I have very straight fine some what oily hair. The BB conditioner left my hair feeling weigh down and the moisturizing shampoo was just too moisturizing and not cleaning enough. Pantene is a good buy, but neither of these two were. So it will be goodbye to both.
I have been enjoying the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation and wanted to try out theFit Me Concealer. Nope, can not figure out what all the hype is about?! I don’t like this concealer at all. Maybe I got a bad tube but it does nothing for me! I don’t really even have dark circles under my eyes, but I still like to try to brighten up my under eye area. I may as well be putting nothing on my face because that is what it looks like. Goodbye!
I love the YES to Grapefruit Daily Facial Scrub, I was hoping these facial wipes would be good as well. I like the way they smell and feel, but unfortunately they stung my face and gave me a bit of a red raised rash. Obviously anything that irritates my skin and causes me pain is a Goodbye!
I say it all the time, I love Maybelline mascaras. I have heard so many great things about the Lash Sensational Mascara but I have never tried it. I figured I would give it a try to see if it lives up to the recommendations. I have to be honest, I have so many other mascaras that I still need to use up before they go bad, that I haven’t even opened this one yet. So…good buy/goodbye? I still don’t know.
I gave the EOS Visibly Soft Vanilla Mint Lip Balm a try. Let’s face it, the EOS lip balm packaging is super cute, but overall that is where it ends! I have tried the Strawberry one, and was less than impressed by it. I was told that the vanilla mint one is different and better than the others. It is definitely better than the strawberry one, but I don’t overly love it. I have used better lip balms that have cost a lot less. Also, I feel like so much of the product gets wasted because of the egg shaped design. After wearing this lip balm my lips don’t feel any more moisturized. At $3 each they are just ok, I have to say this is a Goodbye.
The Soothing Remover Cleansing Towelettes for Sensitive Skin wipes were just ok. They get my face makeup off pretty well. I can get some of my waterproof mascara off, but not much of it at all. If I really want to try to get my mascara off, I end up having to really work at it. The wipes start to dry out before I can get it all off. If I use the wipes too much around my eye area they end up burning my eyes like crazy, so yeah, I’m not into that at all! I have to say Goodbye to these wipes.
I had a coupon for the Herbal Essences Happy Go Lather Body Wash and decided to give it a try. It smells delightful. Nothing overly special about it. It was a good price and it gets me clean without drying out my skin, so I guess it is a good buy.
