Olive and June Heel Balm, What Is This Sorcery?!

Now that the weather’s getting warmer where I live, and I have been wearing sandals more often, I’ve been more conscious of the condition of my feet, more specifically my heels.

I have had a lifelong obsession with smooth soft skin! I own more creams, lotions and oils than any one person could ever go through. It seems as if no amount of creams or lotions or pumice stones does the trick when it comes to my heels.

Olive and June Heel Balm

Recently a friend told me about the Olive and June Heel Balm and swore that it is magical. I’ve been let down by so many “foot creams”, “heel hydration”, and “cracked heel repair” products. My hopes weren’t too high that Olive and June Heel Balm would be much different from everything else that I have tried. With her glowing magical recommendation, I figured why not give it a try.

I don’t know what the sorcery is that is in this product but it WORKED!!! (ingredients listed below) I can see why she called it magical. After only one week of consistent use I have noticed a significant difference in the condition of my heels.

Since I’m not going to share a picture of my feet on the internet (at least not for free 😉🤣), you’ll just have to take my word for it. I was shocked by how quickly my heels felt soft and smooth. Virtually no roughness left.

The Heel Balm comes in a twist up stick tube applicator. It’s a soft solid that quickly turns into an oil. If you don’t want to be sliding all around, or stain your sheets, you’ll definitely have to wear socks after applying. For an additional $6 USD, Olive and June even sells their own O&J Cozy Socks as part of their Slumber Party set. (available in s/m and m/l and pink or mint green)

How to use: “Apply liberally to clean, dry feet. For maximum absorption, follow with cotton socks. For amazing results, use nightly.”

Here’s what Olive and June claims about the Heel Balm:

“Intensive Heel Balm formula hydrates dry, cracked skin. Sunflower and Meadowfoam moisturize and soothe. Convenient stick for super easy and totally mess-free application. Fragrance-free, Vegan, cruelty-free, and phthalate-free. Dermatologist tested”

https://oliveandjune.com/products/heel-balm

I paid $20 USD for a 50ml / 1.8 oz tube at Target. It is also available for the same price at Olive and June’s website. I like that it is fragrance-free, Vegan, cruelty-free, and phthalate-free. You can order your own from Target by clicking HERE. Or check it out on the Olive and June website by clicking HERE.

Ingredients: Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Butter, Lauryl Laurate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Wax, Oryza Sativa (Rice Bran) Oil, Citrus Aurantis (Orange) Peel Wax, Papaver Somniferum Seed Oil, Limnanthes Alba, Tocopheryl Acetate.

What about you? Do your heels get dry and cracked this time of year? Have you tried out the Olive and June Heel Balm? What has your experience been? Did you love it? Hate it? What do you think about their claims about the Heel Balm? Have you notice anything different from what I found?

Have you tried any other Olive and June products? What products did you try? What results did you have? Let me know in the comment section below.

Cerave Skin Renewing Cream Serum.

The older I get the more important my daily skin care choices become. I recently decided to add Encapsulated Retinol into my skincare routine. While retinol care sometimes cause redness and irritations, it turned out to be a great decision for my skin. I wish I’d added it into my skincare routine sooner.

When used consistently Encapsulated Retinol is an effective product for improving the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, skin texture and adding radiance to the skin’s appearance.

Skincare is such a personal thing. What works for one person can cause another person to breakout. For me, when it comes to skincare I find that my skin responds well to Cerave products. I recently used up this tube of Cerave Skin Renewing Cream Serum. I’ve really enjoyed its effects on my skin. I feel as if my skin felt smoother and looked more radiant due to consistently using this product.

With its exclusive Encapsulated Retinol and ceramide complex that Cerave is known for, Cerave claims that its Skin Renewing Cream Serum helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Helps to add radiance to the skin and restores the protective skin barrier.

The packaging has been changed since I originally purchased this product.

Cerave’s website claims that this product:

  • Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Improves skin texture and radiance
  • MVE Technology: This patented delivery system continually releases moisturizing ingredients
  • Encapsulated retinol: Helps smooth fine lines and wrinkles
  • Ceramides: Help maintain the skin’s natural barrier
  • Hyaluronic acid: Helps retain the skin’s natural moisture
  • Niacinamide: Helps calm the skin
  • Non-comedogenic and fragrance-free
  • Developed with dermatologists

CeraVe Skin Renewing Cream Serum is designed to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while helping to repair and restore the skin barrier, resulting in brighter, smoother skin that looks healthy and radiant. It contains an encapsulated 1 percent retinol and ceramide complex, which stabilizes and delivers the retinol into the skin gradually over time so it won’t cause harsh irritation like many retinols. The nongreasy and fast-absorbing formula, also contains vederine, a vitamin D analog known to provide epidermal and skin barrier support.

To use: Apply in small dots where needed around the face and gently smooth until thoroughly absorbed. Use alone or under makeup once or twice a day in the AM and/or PM.

You can check out all the different types of skin care products available on their website by clicking HERE, at Target by clicking HERE, or Walmart by clicking HERE. You can visit their Instagram page by clicking @cerave.

The Skin Brightening Effectiveness Of Vitamin C Serums

Since I haven’t been wearing makeup as often during this time of staying home and mask wearing, I’ve been focusing even more on skincare. I love skincare and fully believe that the most important part of any makeup application is well taken care of healthy skin. While certain aspects of skin health are out of our control, there are certain things we can all do to improve the health and look of our skin, like daily sunscreen use, moisturizing, and always removing makeup before going to bed.

When filling out a beauty survey that asks what is my main “skin concern”, I always check the box that says dark spots/skin discoloration and dull skin. While some of these issues are from years of sun exposure while not wearing sunscreen, the usual cure for brightening skin is Vitamin C serums. I want bright skin! Over the years I have used a lot of different Vitamin C Serums, a lot! I’ve used expensive ones, inexpensive ones, and all kinds of in between priced ones too.

Let me give you a quick run down of some of the ones that I have tried recently…

Cerave Vitamin C Serum
Skincare Radha Rosehip Oil
Yes To Grapefruit Glow Boosting Daily Exfoliating Tonic
Asterwood Naturals Vitamin C
Vitamin c serum from Derma-E
Drunk Elephant C-firma day serum
*Some of the above links are affiliate links

Cerave Vitamin C Serum 1 fl oz for $20 USD I have always had great success with the majority of the Cerave products that I have used. When it comes to Vitamin C serums this one is priced pretty middle of the road at $20, and it works well. I always thought it had a bit of a strange scent to it, but from reading other reviews and talking to others that have used it, I think that is just the way it smells. I have purchased this serum several times.

Skincare Radha Rosehip Oil 4 fl oz for $15. This is a great price for the amount of product, $3.75 USD per ounce. Since it is an oil, it can breakdown some foundations and face products, so it definitely doesn’t work well underneath makeup. I usually used it at night as part of my overnight skincare routine. Over time it added some brightness to my skin but because of the heavy sticky feeling on my skin it is not my favorite.

Yes To Grapefruit Glow Boosting Daily Exfoliating Tonic 4 fl oz for $15 While technically not a vitamin c serum, this tonic boasts that it will brighten the skin while making it glow. Every night when I use this tonic, it always gives my skin a bit of a tingling stinging feeling. I use this tonic every evening after I double cleanse my skin before I moisturize and put on serums. I have used about half of the bottle, so far I haven’t noticed a large enough of a difference in the texture and brightness of my skin to justify the added step in my skincare routine.

Asterwood Naturals Vitamin C 1 fl oz for $13 I purchased these ones over and over again. They have the classic vitamin c hot dog water scent to them. While I did enjoy these serums at the time that I was consistently using them, I haven’t repurchased them in a while.

Vitamin c serum from Derma-E 2 fl oz for $20 USD I started using it in May and just finished this bottle and I have already purchased another one to replace it. It has a nice light scent and doesn’t feel oily or weighty on the skin. It can be worn well under makeup and includes hyaluronic acid. I think it is a good product and I’m looking forward to continuing using it.

 C-firma day serum | lookingjoligood.blog
Drunk Elephant C-firma day serum

Drunk Elephant C-firma day serum 1 fl oz for $80. I faithfully used this every single day for five months until I had used the entire bottle… I noticed some slight brightening to my skin, but overall I did not see enough of a difference to justify that high of a price point for something that I can get a similar quality product at a much lower price.

Overall, do I think that Vitamin C serums brighten the skin the way they promise…yes and no. With consistent use, I have noticed that my skin has a nice look to it. Have I noticed any lightening and brightening of sun discoloration, age spots, and dark spots?…No, not really, at least not an overwhelmingly noticeable difference that I would continue to pay large amounts of money for.

Out of all the vitamin c serums I have used which one do I recommend…drum roll please… I prefer the Vitamin c serum from Derma-E with a close second runner up Cerave Vitamin C Serum

Vitamin C serums can be all over the place when it comes to pricing. Just because a product costs more does not mean that it is more effective. The derma-e product is a quarter of the price of Drunk Elephant C-Firma, while twice the amount as the Skincare Radha Rosehip Oil per ounce.

The best advice I can give you when it comes to brightening the skin and decreasing premature age spots…

Use sunscreen daily to prevent sunspot and premature aging

Readers Are Leaders! Good Reads From 2018

A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies!

img_20181128_070309_4541680271368108522957.jpg

I love using my library card! It combines two of my favorite things, reading and getting things for free. 😉

For the last several years I have tried to read a book a week.  This is the first year that I’m a few books short only 46… so close! Despite not reaching my goal, I have read some really great books this year!  Here are a few of my favorites:

The Invention of Wings Sue Monk Kidd | lookingjoligood.blog

The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd

“The Invention of Wings is a book written by Sue Monk Kidd.
The novel itself is about a girl named Hetty (nicknamed ‘Handful’) and her troubled life as a slave in the early nineteenth century in Charleston, where Hetty is desperately wanting and waiting for a better life than the one she lives now.
Kidd’s novel begins on the eleventh birthday of Sarah Grimke. She received her gift, and as her gift, she got Hetty, a ten-year-old girl, who was intended to be her handmaid.
We follow the life of Hetty through the course of thirty-five years, as she struggled for freedom and destiny, which was very often filled with estrangement, guilt and sorrow.
Perhaps, the best thing about this novel is that the author referred to a real, historical person of Sarah Grimke, and did a fine job in combining events of Sarah’s real life and fictional events, which were written in order to make everything even more interesting.
The Invention of Wings is a very exquisitely written novel, a novel where storytelling is everything. Because in this book, we read not just about the lives of two girls (women later), but we also read about the darkness in American history, and the female struggle for freedom and liberation, which will leave no reader unmoved.”

Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate

“Memphis, 1939. Twelve-year-old Rill Foss and her four younger siblings live a magical life aboard their family’s Mississippi River shantyboat. But when their father must rush their mother to the hospital one stormy night, Rill is left in charge—until strangers arrive in force. Wrenched from all that is familiar and thrown into a Tennessee Children’s Home Society orphanage, the Foss children are assured that they will soon be returned to their parents—but they quickly realize the dark truth. At the mercy of the facility’s cruel director, Rill fights to keep her sisters and brother together in a world of danger and uncertainty.

Aiken, South Carolina, present day. Born into wealth and privilege, Avery Stafford seems to have it all: a successful career as a federal prosecutor, a handsome fiancé, and a lavish wedding on the horizon. But when Avery returns home to help her father weather a health crisis, a chance encounter leaves her with uncomfortable questions and compels her to take a journey through her family’s long-hidden history, on a path that will ultimately lead either to devastation or to redemption.

Based on one of America’s most notorious real-life scandals—in which Georgia Tann, director of a Memphis-based adoption organization, kidnapped and sold poor children to wealthy families all over the country—Lisa Wingate’s riveting, wrenching, and ultimately uplifting tale reminds us how, even though the paths we take can lead to many places, the heart never forgets where we belong.

Harry Potter | lookingjoligood.blog

All 7 of the Harry Potter Books by J K Rowling

“Harry Potter’s life is miserable. His parents are dead and he’s stuck with his heartless relatives, who force him to live in a tiny closet under the stairs. But his fortune changes when he receives a letter that tells him the truth about himself: he’s a wizard. A mysterious visitor rescues him from his relatives and takes him to his new home, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

After a lifetime of bottling up his magical powers, Harry finally feels like a normal kid. But even within the Wizarding community, he is special. He is the boy who lived: the only person to have ever survived a killing curse inflicted by the evil Lord Voldemort, who launched a brutal takeover of the Wizarding world, only to vanish after failing to kill Harry.

Though Harry’s first year at Hogwarts is the best of his life, not everything is perfect. There is a dangerous secret object hidden within the castle walls, and Harry believes it’s his responsibility to prevent it from falling into evil hands. But doing so will bring him into contact with forces more terrifying than he ever could have imagined.

Full of sympathetic characters, wildly imaginative situations and countless exciting details, the first installment in the series assembles an unforgettable magical world and sets the stage for many high-stakes adventures to come.”

Why Her? 6 Truths We Need to Hear When Measuring Up Leaves Us Falling Behind by Nicki Koziarz | lookingjoligood.blog

Why Her?: 6 Truths We Need to Hear When Measuring Up Leaves Us Falling Behind by Nicki Koziarz

“If success is defined in the eye of the beholder,
who are you letting behold your success?

Nicki Koziarz is confronting the comparison question: Why her?

Through two striving sisters in the Bible, Nicki uncovered six truths’ we need to hear when trying to measure up leaves you falling behind.

These six truths will help you:

·      Stop staring at her success and find satisfaction in yours.

·      Find contentment with your life without being complacent in who you are becoming.

·      Gain godly wisdom to answer the Why Her silent question of your soul.

Someone will always be ahead. But that doesn’t mean you’re behind. Because Truth, like always, will set us free. And free women don’t have to measure up to anybody. Not even her.”

The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks

“When you read this book, you will make many assumptions.
You will assume you are reading about a jealous ex-wife.
You will assume she is obsessed with her replacement – a beautiful, younger woman who is about to marry the man they both love.
You will assume you know the anatomy of this tangled love triangle.
Assume nothing.

Twisted and deliciously chilling, Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen’s The Wife Between Us exposes the secret complexities of an enviable marriage – and the dangerous truths we ignore in the name of love.”

Not Our Kind by Kitty Zeldis

“One rainy morning in June, two years after the end of World War II, a minor traffic accident brings together Eleanor Moskowitz and Patricia Bellamy. Their encounter seems fated: Eleanor, a teacher and recent Vassar graduate, needs a job. Patricia’s difficult thirteen-year-old daughter Margaux, recovering from polio, needs a private tutor.

Though she feels out of place in the Bellamys’ rarefied and elegant Park Avenue milieu, Eleanor forms an instant bond with Margaux. Soon the idealistic young woman is filling the bright young girl’s mind with Shakespeare and Latin. Though her mother, a hat maker with a little shop on Second Avenue, disapproves, Eleanor takes pride in her work, even if she must use the name “Moss” to enter the Bellamys’ restricted doorman building each morning, and feels that Patricia’s husband, Wynn, may have a problem with her being Jewish.

Invited to keep Margaux company at the Bellamys’ country home in a small town in Connecticut, Eleanor meets Patricia’s unreliable, bohemian brother, Tom, recently returned from Europe. The spark between Eleanor and Tom is instant and intense. Flushed with new romance and increasingly attached to her young pupil, Eleanor begins to feel more comfortable with Patricia and much of the world she inhabits. As the summer wears on, the two women’s friendship grows—until one hot summer evening, a line is crossed, and both Eleanor and Patricia will have to make important decisions—choices that will reverberate through their lives.

Gripping and vividly told, Not Our Kind illuminates the lives of two women on the cusp of change—and asks how much our pasts can and should define our futures.”

The Alice Network by Kate Quinn

In an enthralling new historical novel from national bestselling author Kate Quinn, two women—a female spy recruited to the real-life Alice Network in France during World War I and an unconventional American socialite searching for her cousin in 1947—are brought together in a mesmerizing story of courage and redemption.

1947. In the chaotic aftermath of World War II, American college girl Charlie St. Clair is pregnant, unmarried, and on the verge of being thrown out of her very proper family. She’s also nursing a desperate hope that her beloved cousin Rose, who disappeared in Nazi-occupied France during the war, might still be alive. So when Charlie’s parents banish her to Europe to have her “little problem” taken care of, Charlie breaks free and heads to London, determined to find out what happened to the cousin she loves like a sister.

1915. A year into the Great War, Eve Gardiner burns to join the fight against the Germans and unexpectedly gets her chance when she’s recruited to work as a spy. Sent into enemy-occupied France, she’s trained by the mesmerizing Lili, the “Queen of Spies”, who manages a vast network of secret agents right under the enemy’s nose.

Thirty years later, haunted by the betrayal that ultimately tore apart the Alice Network, Eve spends her days drunk and secluded in her crumbling London house. Until a young American barge in uttering a name Eve hasn’t heard in decades, and launches them both on a mission to find the truth…no matter where it leads.

“Both funny and heartbreaking, this epic journey of two courageous women is an unforgettable tale of little-known wartime glory and sacrifice. Quinn knocks it out of the park with this spectacular book!”—Stephanie Dray, New York Times bestselling author of America’s First Daughter

Curél Hydrotherapy Wet Skin Moisturizer Review

~Weekly Product Highlight~ Curél Hydrotherapy Wet Skin Moisturizer~

Curél Hydrotherapy Wet Skin Moisturizer Review | lookingjoligood.blog

“Curél Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer is activated by water on freshly-showered skin and penetrates deeply into the surface to heal dryness, for soft skin you can only imagine.”

I moisturize my skin religiously every day!  I am so picky about not only the way a moisturizer makes my skin feel but as well as the way it feels on my skin. I am also very picky about the scent of lotions.  I don’t like it if a daily moisturizer is so strong and overpowering that it interferes with my perfume.

Curél Hydrotherapy Wet Skin Moisturizer Review | lookingjoligood.blog

I received two of these Curél sample sizes in my Walmart winter beauty boxes.  I figured that I would at least try one, then if I didn’t like it I would pass the second one along to someone else.

Curél Hydrotherapy Wet Skin Moisturizer Review | lookingjoligood.blog

In the past, I have tried a few similar in/after shower products. I have never liked any of them.  With the other products, I found my skin to either feel slick and filmy or dry and itchy.  Needless to say, I didn’t have high hopes for this one…

The Curél hydrotherapy wet skin moisturizer is not like the other products that I have tried!  I was blown away by how much I love this after shower lotion!

My skin feels soft and moisturized after applying this.  It isn’t slippery, greasy, slick, or sticky. It has a nice light clean scent that isn’t overpowering. What I like most of all is how easily it applies and how much time it saves!

The 12 fl oz/ 354 ml bottle cost $10 and a 8 fl oz/ 236 ml bottle is around $7.50.

What does the Curél Website have to say about this Hydrotherapy Wet Skin Moisturizer

“Why Wet Skin?
After showering, your pores are open, providing an easy pathway for moisture to absorb into just-showered skin. Curél® HYDRA THERAPY WET SKIN MOISTURIZER, with Advanced Ceramide Complex, penetrates deeply into the skin’s surface bringing moisture to the source of dryness. It absorbs immediately and with continued use will end your dry skin!

Why Ceramides?
Ceramides, naturally present in healthy skin, are vital building blocks to maintaining skin’s moisture barrier. When ceramides are lost, skin becomes dry and damaged. Curél® HYDRA THERAPY WET SKIN MOISTURIZER, with Advanced Ceramide Complex, penetrates to the source of dryness, helping to replenish skin’s ceramide levels and repair the moisture barrier.

  • Water activated moisture works deep into skin’s surface
  • Helps repair moisture barrier
  • Contains our proprietary Advanced Ceramide Complex
  • Immediately Absorbs
  • Completely Greaseless
  • Skin feels 3x more hydrated instantly
  • Fragrance Free
  • Dermatologist Recommended
  • Received the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance”

Eco Tools Brushes

~Weekly Product Highlight~Eco Tools Brushes~

Eco Tools is celebrating its 10th anniversary and they have recently rebranded a lot of their brushes and tools.

Recently my sister told me about a great deal on Amazon, I got this Limited Edition Anniversary Collection set for only $5!  I have no idea why they were offering these brushes at such a great price, but I am glad that they did.

These brushes are 100% cruelty-free and vegan. All of Eco tools products are made from recycled aluminum and plastic.  The synthetic bristles are super soft.

This set comes with six brushes and an aluminum metallic rose-gold cylinder brush-holder
The brushes included are:
Spoolie
Eye/Lip Blur Brush- perfect for applying eye liner or lipstick/liner
Eyeliner Brush- used for the application of eyeliner and eyeshadow.
Angled Crease Brush- perfect for applying eyeshadow to crease.
Airbrushed Finishing Brush
Controlled Setting Brush- perfect for applying setting powders and highlighter.
Aluminum cylinder brush-holder: perfect for traveling this is a recycled beautiful metallic rose-gold holder.

My favorite of all the brushes is the angled crease brush. Whenever I am trying to get ready quickly and only have a lot of time, I use this brush to apply my shadow.   It makes applying a transition crease shade quick and easy.  As well, a great brush helps to make even the worse of shadows go on easier.

While the amazon special sale is no longer going on, the Anniversary brush set is still available for $19.99.  Whether $5 or $20, these brushes are absolutely worth it! I would pay more than $5 for just this angled crease brush alone.

What does the Eco Tools Website have to say about these brushes?

“Only available for a limited time.

We’re celebrating our 10-year anniversary the best way we know how…with a limited-edition brush collection!

This Collection features six face and eye brushes to create a fresh, healthy-looking glow.

How ’bout Them Samples…

I am still going strong with not buying new beauty items!  Of course getting a bunch of new stuff for Christmas has helped a lot.  In the meantime, I am still trying to use up samples that I have already received and often neglect.

Since I started doing this several months ago, I have really enjoyed using and trying out these samples.  It has really helped me to not make any unnecessary beauty purchases!  I don’t think that I have ever gone this long before without buying new makeup!

I think a lot of times the excitement of getting the new things is greater than that of actually trying out and using the samples.  So far, so good. I have so many samples from ipsy bags, or Target boxes and others from Walmart beauty boxes.  This has really been a great way to use them up.

Here is another group of samples that I have decided to try…

Covergirl Intensify Me lash blast liquid eyeliner

Eco Tools makeup brush cleansing clothes

Hello Mojito Mint Floride Toothpaste

NSPA Coconut Rich Body Butter

S.W. Basics Exfoliant

Check back in a few weeks and I will let you know what I think of each thing and if I would purchase the full size of these items based on my thoughts from using these samples.

How ’bout Them Samples # 5 Review

how bout them samples | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

I told you a few weeks ago that I would let you know what I think of each of these samples and if I would purchase these items based on my experiences with the samples.

Since I started doing this a few months ago I have really enjoyed using the samples and trying out these new things.

Here is the review of the fifth group of what I have tried out…

clean and clear | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

Clean and Clear Deep Action 60 second shower mask

I was having some skin issues and couldn’t figure out what was going on.  I think it may have been because I was eating more sugar and candy, but maybe there was something else going on, I don’t know.  Anyway, long story short, I used this Clean and Clear Deep Action 60 second shower mask every day and my skin started looking awesome!  This 1 oz tube lasted me about 2 weeks.

A 5 oz bottle of this Clean and Clear Deep Action 60 second shower mask costs around $5. (worth every penny in my opinion.)

I have used this entire 1 oz sample and have already purchased a full-size bottle, so obviously…

YES, based on the sample, I would and did buy this Clean and Clear Deep Action 60 second shower mask.

dove purely pampering | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com
Dove Purely Pampering Body Wash

I have used a few different Dove body washes and I usually love them.  I don’t know if I just got a bad batch, but I didn’t like this body wash at all. The scent was ok, kinda shea butter like, not too strong.  The consistency was really thick and creamy, so I thought it would be great, but it let me down.  I had a really tough time getting this body wash to lather.  I also had a tough time getting it out of the bottle…too bad, I had high hopes.

A full sized 22 oz bottle costs $5.50, this sample size can be bought for $1.19.

Based on the sample, NO, I would not buy this Dove Purely Pampering Body Wash.

n4 prep and protect | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com
N4 Lumiere d’hiver Super Comb Prep and Protect

This N4Lumiere d’hiver Super Comb Prep and Protect has a nice pleasant soft scent. It has a lightweight formula that leaves my hair feeling soft, and looking shiny and healthy. My daughter loves to have me spray this in her hair.

A full sized 6.7 fl oz. bottle costs $32 and this sample 1 oz size bottle costs $9.

Based on the sample, YES, I would buy this N4Lumiere d’hiver Super Comb Prep and Protect

candied vanilla hand lotion | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com
Mor Candied Vanilla Hand and Body Lotion

While I did like the way this lotion smelled at first the longer I wore it the more I disliked it.  It has a very strong vanilla bean scent to it and it definitely smells sweet like candy.  But too sweet and too candy like.  The lotion itself was ok, but the scent was just too strong to get over.

The sample size costs $2.25 and the full sized 100 ml 3.3 fl oz tube costs $25.

Based on the sample, NO, I would not buy this Mor Candied Vanilla Hand and Body Lotion

swisspers
Swisspers Cotton Rounds

I both love and hate these cotton rounds.  The exfoliating bumpy side is absolutely wonderful!  The opposite smoother side leaves little cotton pieces all over my face.  Because I like the bumpy side so much I can forgive it for the little cotton left overs.

Based on the sample, YES, I would buy this

vaseline intensive care | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com
Vaseline Intensive Care unscented lotion

This is one of the best hand lotions that I have used in a long time!  It sinks into the skin quickly without leaving a greasy feel to the skin.  A 10 oz bottle costs around $3.50.

As a nurse and mother, my hands get so sore and dry from washing them so many times a day. I have already used this entire 1 oz. sample and have bought a new full sized bottle.  So that already being said…

Based on the sample, YES, I would buy this Vaseline Intensive Care Advanced Repair Lotion.

vitabath | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com
Vitabath Gelee

This bath and shower gel was great but kind of strange at the same time!  It had a wonderful lather that was actually a bright green like the color of the gelee. It definitely left my skin feeling clean without being overly dry.  And while it has a clean scent, I didn’t love the way it smells.  It reminded me of the soap that I used to use at the hospital to clean the patients. Pleasant, but kind of clinical at the same time.

A 32 oz bottle costs around $38, and as far as I know there are 4 scents available, so maybe one of them is better.

Based on the sample, YES, I would buy this Vitabath Gelee, but in the other scent that is available.

I have been doing really well with not making any unnecessary beauty purchases!  I don’t think that I have ever gone this long without buying new makeup!  I think a lot of times the excitement of getting the new things is greater than that of actually trying out and using the samples.
