Blogging is so 2015…

So, here’s the thing, I realize that blogging is not where it’s at. It’s like the Internet’s version of a time machine, transporting us back to the ancient era of 2015. Remember those days when blogs were all the rage? Oh the nostalgia!

Once upon a time, my blog was a bustling hub of activity, with traffic pouring in and likes multiplying like weeds in a garden. It was an exciting time to write a blog. But oh, how the times have changed. The once-vibrant community has moved on and my poor blog, like most, resembles more of a desolate graveyard, with the occasional random visitor stumbling upon its forgotten pages.

Sure, I could try creating reels or catchy videos for Instagram and TikTok or whatever the latest digital sensation will be. But there’s something satisfying about coming up with a written paragraph that just can’t be replicated in a 15-second clip or a clickbait title. Blogging for me is more than just a trendy activity or a desperate attempt to relive the glory days of the mid-2010s. It’s my creative outlet. I still believe in the power of words. It’s my way of expressing myself and sharing my ideas with the world, even if the world has moved on to new shiny more exciting platforms.

Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the creativity and brevity of those quick videos. But let’s face it, when it comes to beauty tips and product suggestions, I can’t help but wish they had an accompanying good old-fashioned blog post with all the details written down for me to refer back to.

Despite the fact that we’re not living in the past, I still find myself sitting here, typing away, pouring my thoughts into blog posts. Am I crazy for spending my time this way? Well, maybe just a little bit. Why do I continue to write?

Just because “everyone” is hopping on the latest social media bandwagon doesn’t mean I have to abandon my blog. Going viral might sound exciting to some, but for me, it’s a recipe for stress, pressure, and loss of privacy. The thought of my every move being scrutinized by thousands ( in some cases, millions) of people, no thank you! The allure of fame may be tempting to some, but I’ve seen enough cautionary tales to know that it often comes with a hefty price. I am not interested! I’d rather have a small, loyal following who appreciates my work rather than a fleeting moment of viral stardom (yuck!).

So, while I may be swimming against the tide of progress, I’ll keep on typing, post after post, because my blog is important to me. Even when I take breaks from it, it’s where my thoughts find a home, my ideas come to life. Blogging may be so 2015, but while everyone else is chasing the latest trends and desperately seeking their 15 minutes of online fame, I’ll be over here, blogging away. Even if I am the only one, I’m determined to keep blogging alive, one post at a time.

  1. I have a private blog that’s literally over 17 years old which I’ve kept writing on to date! My last post was just under a month ago! I know FiercePaint is a little slow with the posting but I swore to never stop blogging! They’re my babies!

  2. I miss the days when blogging was popular and reading words and thoughts was the ‘in thing’ rather than mostly consuming by watching/scrolling. I often mean to write a blog post but it’s been over a year and I haven’t found a way to collect my thoughts and put one together yet haha 😛

    1. I went almost a year without writing any posts as well. I’ve been writing a lot recently because I’m in graduate school. I have a break from classes until September. I figured while I am in the practice of writing I would put some posts up on my blog.
