Here’s another tip for Tip Tuesday:

Today’s tip is about how to get the best foundation application!

Clean and tone your skin. A great base starts with prepped skin.
- I love the Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herb, and Rosewater.
Moisturize your face. Give the moisturizer time to sink into the skin.
Prime your face. Choose your primer based on what you want it to do.
- A great pore filling primer is the BENEFIT COSMETICS The POREfessional Face Primer.
- One that is great for extending the life of your makeup is the MAC Prep + Prime Skin
Apply a small amount of foundation to start. It is better to need to apply more to increase coverage than to have too much on right from the start.
- My current favorite foundation applying tool is the REAL TECHNIQUES Miracle Complexion Sponge
Apply a fine layer of loose setting powder to the entire face concentrating on problem areas of your face.
- One of my favorite powders is the Coty Airspun Powder.
Lightly spray your face with a setting spray.
- Wet N Wild makes a great spray.
- No one can bet the All Nighter by Urban Decay.

Coty Airspun Powder — Yup, it smells like your grandmother, but it’s been around since 1935 for a reason!

As you may recall, I subscribed to Ipsy for over two years. (How could you not recall since I wrote about my glam bags every month 😉) I really looked forward to trying out the samples and loved getting my pink shiny envelope in the mail each month.

After a lot of going back and forth, I decided that I wanted to move on to something different. And boxy charm it is!

Here is what I got in my first box:

Waterproof Gel Eyeliner by Bellapierre $15.00

Creamy, waterproof eyeliner for true definition that lasts all day. The liner glides on smoothly, and is formulated with pure minerals, natural waxes, and antioxidants-making them hypoallergenic and safe for all skin types.

You know how I feel about receiving black eyeliners in these boxes…That being said, this liner is just ok. Kinda stiff and waxy instead of smooth and creamy. At $15, that is a huge no thanks from me.

Face Paint by Aloette $35.00

Aloette’s Face Paint point is enriched with Jojoba esthers, vitamin E, and other essential oils that will heal and nourish the skin while providing long-lasting, dewy color to the cheeks and lips.

This is a really beautiful shade, but I’ve never really enjoyed cream blush products. Probably because I am just not good at applying them…I’ve worn it on my lips a few times, but don’t really love the shade on my lips. I may pass it along to someone else who might use it.

Pro Eyelashes by PÜR The Complexion Authority $14.00

PÜR’s 3D lashes are handcrafted with the finest luxury silk to provide ultra-lightweight, natural-looking, fuller lashes. These cruelty-free lashes are durable, reusable, and safe for contact wearers.

These lashes are beautiful. Personally, I don’t ever wear false lashes, and I don’t own any lash glue…so I can’t actually apply these. But none the less, they are gorgeous.

Rainforest Of The Sea: Volume II by Tarte $36.00

Crease-free eyeshadow palette with the best-selling creamy powder formula in eight, cool-toned shades.

While these shadows are gorgeous, they are definitely not for a beginner. They have a strange creamy texture. While perfect for the lid, they don’t really blend well in the crease. I have found that applying each shade using my fingertips makes the shadows apply much better. The golden shade is gorgeous as an over the entire lid shade.

MODA Pro 3-Piece Brush Set by Royal & Langnickel $26.00

This MODA Pro 3-piece brush set, features a pointed blush, chisel blender, and a crease brush. These brushes will achieve endless looks and can be used with both wet and dry products.

I have used these brushes every day since receiving them. I’ve been using the largest one to apply bronzer and powder. With a unique curve design, this flat dense brush can be used to apply highlight, but I have been using it to contour my cheekbones. The thin one is my new favorite crease brush. It is so soft and versatile.

For now, I am only planning on getting Boxy Charm for three months. We’ll see how things go because the first box I got is awesome, I may be wanting to continue my subscription past the three months.

What’s New At Sephora: Fenty, TooFaced, Sephora Favorites!

Goodbye Summer…Hello, Fall…

With the change in the seasons comes lots of new releases! I love to look at all the new makeup available at Sephora!

There has been a lot of buzz around the new Fenty beauty line.

One of the most praised products is the long-wear foundation available in 40 shades. A 1.08 oz bottle is $34.

Another launch creating a lot of buzz is the TOO FACED Just Peachy collection.

The packaging is stunning! The thought and details that went into the creation of each design is amazing. This Sweetie Pie Bronzer ($30 USD) is so cute, I think that I wouldn’t want to use it because the design is so well thought out!

Look at the details in the Peach My Cheeks Blush, Peach Kiss Moisture Matte Long Wear Lipstick, and the Bronzed Peach!

While all of the products in the new Peaches and Cream launch look great the one that caught my eye the most is the Velvet Matte Eye Shadow Palette, of course, since eyeshadow is my favorite. –

Most people think that by ordering a salad they are eating healthy. Sounds like a good plan right?

In many cases, that is absolutely right: A big bowl of dark leafy greens and vegetables is not only low in calories but also has much-needed fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

But while most salads start off healthy, some wind-up anything but healthy! Just because it is a salad doesn’t mean that it is the healthiest choice. Thanks to all the creamy ranch, Caesar, or blue cheese dressing, bacon bits, and croutons, a healthy salad can quickly eat up more than half a day’s worth of calories and fat.

Beware of those sneaky extra calories and added fat topping your salad! Here are some salad ingredients to skip: cream dressings, croutons and crispy noodles, full-fat cheese, dried fruit, breaded chicken, bacon.

In no way am I saying that your salads should only be limited to cucumbers, tomatoes, and a spritz of lemon.

Instead, try topping your salads with a vinaigrette dressing, hard boiled egg, baked chicken and a 1/4 of an avocado.

Choose fresh fruit and nuts, instead of dried fruit and croutons.

Quinoa, 1/4 of an avocado, chick peas and black beans with a bit of lime juice and olive oil also makes for a delicious salad.

By being mindful of the toppings you choose you can turn a salad into a filling, nutritious, balanced meal.

Shrimp Lettuce Wraps with Peanut Dipping Sauce

I haven’t posted a recipe in a long time! Here is a tasty one from Natashaskitchen.com for Shrimp Lettuce Wraps with Peanut Dipping Sauce

Prep time: 20 mins

Cook time: 5 mins

Total time: 25 mins

These shrimp lettuce wraps make for one fantastic, delicious and super impressive (Gluten free – mind you) meal. We love the cup-like shape and dark leaves of the Boston, bib, or butter lettuce but regular lettuce works too 🙂

Skill Level: Easy

Cost To Make: $14-$17

Serving: 4

Ingredients

For the Lettuce Wraps:

1 head of Lettuce.
1 lb large Shrimp, peeled and deveined
Salt and Pepper
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 Avocado, sliced into strips
½ Cucumber, sliced into strips
½ bunch Cilantro
1 medium Carrot, cut into matchsticks

Peanut Dipping Sauce:

¾ cup Newman’s Own lowfat sesame ginger dressing (P.S. this dressing contains wheat so if you’re gluten free, try: Braggs ginger sesame)
2 Tbsp creamy peanut butter (microwave 30 sec if peanut butter refrigerated)

Instructions

Rinse and pat dry your shrimp. Sprinkle shrimp with salt and pepper. Add 1 Tbsp olive oil to a large hot non-stick skillet. Once oil is hot, add shrimp and saute on med/high heat 2 min per side or until cooked through. Don’t overcook them or they will turn rubbery.
Cut your cucumber and carrot into thin matchsticks. Slice your avocado into strips. You should find a prettier avocado though; one that doesn’t look as sickly as mine.
Make your dressing by whisking together the ¾ cup sesame ginger dressing with the 2 Tbsp peanut butter. If you have a tightly sealed tupperware, you can put it int there and shake ‘er up until it’s nice and smooth. This sauce is so so tasty and way too easy!
Assemble your lettuce wraps with a lettuce leaf, several strips of carrot and cucumber, a decent slice of avocado, 2 shrimps and a couple good sized sprigs of cilantro. Don’t skip on the cilantro. At least give it a whirl. It totally reminds me of spring rolls and makes the entire spring roll dangerously enticing. Then drizzle the top with the peanut dipping sauce.

This devotional from In Touch is too good not to share! Waiting on God after praying and praying and getting an answer of “yes, but not yet.” is so tough! Waiting on God’s blessings in His time are always worth the wait.

Genesis 16:1-16

God answers prayer in one of three ways: “yes,” “no,” or “yes, but not yet.” This last reply seems to be the most dreaded— sometimes even more than an outright “no.” However, patience is an important trait for the Christian, as Scripture stresses repeatedly in stories, psalms, and epistles.

Waiting on the Lord to unlock a door is always wiser than attempting to pry it open ourselves, even when the delay has been long. After God promised him descendants (Gen. 12:2), Abraham lived for 25 years with an answer of “not yet.” After that quarter-century, the answer finally became “yes.” But meanwhile, Abraham and Sarah came up with their own plan to get an heir—Sarah’s servant Hagar bore Ishmael. The couple may have convinced themselves they were “helping” God live up to His prophecy, but really they were disobeying. The consequences were disastrous. Bitterness and blame affected every member of the family (Gen. 16:4-6; Gen. 21:9-10). What’s more, Ishmael’s people lived in enmity with their neighbors, and that hostility persists in the Middle East today (Gen. 21:9-14; Gen. 25:18).

Our patience gives God time to prepare the opportunity on the other side of a closed door. Even if we could force our way by manipulating circumstances, we would not be happy with what we find there. No one in Abraham’s camp was satisfied with the situation they created! We can have contentment and joy only when we access the Lord’s will at the very moment He ordained. The blessings we find on the other side of an open door are always worth the wait.
