No Gym No Problem

No Gym? No Problem! #42

I have mentioned before that I love cardio kickboxing.  I love any workout that is going to get my heart rate up while working my entire body at the same time!  The next day you’ll feel this workout in you arms, back, and abs.

If you are a person that needs music to workout with, you will need to add your own soundtrack because this workout doesn’t have any background music with it.

Do you have 25 minutes to improve your health and wellness? Yes, You Do! No excuses! Just do it, you will be so happy that you did! Remember to keep good proper form, warm up before, and stretch after you exercise!

e.l.f. Rose Gold Eyeshadow Palette

Has anyone tried out this new e.l.f. Rose Gold Eyeshadow Palette?

I am wondering if it is a good one worth getting?  I LoVe my Mad for Matte Palette and am wondering if this one is the same level of quality. (I already have the Wet N Wild Au Natural Nude Awakenings Palette which is really good, but not all of the shadows are over the top great.)  For only $10 I really can’t go wrong, I just don’t know if I want to add another palette to my collection to take up more room.

Let me know in the comment section what you think and if I should get it!  I trust your opinions!

BOOKS BOOKS BOOKS

See Me by Nicholas Sparks

One of my favorite past times is getting lost in a great book.I LOVE to read!   Over the last few years I have read about 15 or so of Nicholas Sparks many books.  Some have been better than others. While I absolutely loved The Notebook (then again, who didn’t) and its sequel The Wedding, The Longest Ride was another good one, yet I couldn’t even make it all the way through At First Sight.  I must also add that I don’t watch the movies that are associated with his books, so please don’t think that I judge his books by the movies. (Although, I have probably watched The Notebook 100 times.) On Friday I just finished reading See Me (published in October 2015).  After finishing this book I have come to a conclusion: For now I think I need to take a break from reading Nicholas Sparks books for a while…

Here is my summery of See Me (well actually the majority of all of his books.)

Disclaimer: If this were the first Nicholas Sparks book that I had ever read I would have loved it!  It was a good story and the characters were likable, but it isn’t the first one I have read, soooo…

See Me Nickolas Sparks | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com
See Me and the majority of his books all follow the same basic pattern: insert name of absolutely beautiful leading lady and a gorgeous muscular love interest leading man.  They meet and realized that they are both the best looking people they have ever seen. While they instantly fall in love, there is some self doubt on one side or the other due to the struggles of their past. Something happens to cause a big fight between them, they break up! Don’t worry, the love story doesn’t end there.  Despite the fact that they can’t live without the other person, they will not call or even try to work something out, (probably due to the struggles of their past). Then all of a sudden tragedy strikes and something terrible happens to bring them back together. Due to the sorted past, the police cannot be asked for assistance with this tragedy and actually the police night might make the situation worse. Now that they are back together true love is stronger than ever. Now  they can face anything because they are together.  But wait, something even more horrific happens, the strength of their love is tested. (Probably the sorted past showing up again)… yadahya…True love conquers all! Happy ending! All this always set in a beautiful North Carolina town.  The end.

Tip Tuesday #35

Here is another tip for Tip Tuesday!

Tip Tuesday: Make up tips and tricks every Tuesday | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

This week’s tip is to use coconut oil as a makeup remover

I have mentioned before that I have to wear waterproof mascara if I want my lashes to stay curled.  Since it is waterproof most regular cleanser will not remove my mascara.  I like to remove every single little bit of my makeup every night, so I needed to figure out a way to get all my waterproof mascara off.  That is when I discovered coconut oil as a makeup remover.

Trader Joe's coconut-oil | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

Coconut oil is great for so many things, but one of my favorite things to use it for is a natural makeup remover.  A small amount goes a very long way, so a jar or bottle will last a long time!

I start with my eyes since it takes a little while for the oil to breakdown the mascara. I use take one pump of fractionated coconut oil or one tiny scoop of organic unrefined coconut oil.  I rub it gently on my eyes in a circular motion.  I let that settle in while I remove the rest of the make up from my face.

To remove the rest of the rest of my face makeup, I gently rub coconut oil in a circular motion all over my face. I wash it all off with a warm wet wash cloth*.

*You don’t want to let the coconut oil filled water that you rinse off your face with go down the drain.  Over time it will harden and clog up your pipes.  Pretty gross!

No Gym No Problem

No Gym? No Problem! #41

You know I love my girl Jessica Smith!  She is so encouraging and has some really great workouts. I thought that this was an interesting twist on a cardio workout.  You will need a light ball, nothing fancy, I used my son’s soccer ball.  Peanut is in this video too, always a funny distraction.

Do you have 30 minutes to improve your health and wellness? Yes, You Do! No Excuses, Just do it! Remember to keep good proper form, warm up before, and stretch after you exercise!

Should You Workout When You’re Sick?

I have been feeling a bit yuck the last few days, either I have a cold or my allergies are acting up. (Yup, I am totally looking for some sympathy here, lol)  When I am feeling stuffed up, despite wanting to lay around and feel sorry for myself, I generally feel better when I keep active.

Achooooo! | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

The general advice I’ve heard from doctors is if your symptoms are from the neck up (sore throat, coughing, runny nose, congested sinuses), it’s fine to participate in light exercising activities. You know your body, don’t push it too much but listen to the way you feel. Sometimes a workout is just what you may need to feel better!  Personally I get a lot of sinus headaches, and often after I exercise I feel a lot better!

If you are having symptoms that include muscle or joint pain, along with headache, fever, malaise (overall general feeling of yuck), diarrhea, or vomiting do not workout.  When in doubt, ask your doctor and listen to your body!

Please don’t go to the gym if you are sick. Not only could you pick up additional bugs while your immune system is already not at 100%,  but  you could also be spreading your germs to every one else. It is usually great to share, but not when it is germs!

Remember that after you are sick you might need to ease yourself back into a workout routine.  Don’t over do it since you might end up making yourself feel worse later on!  Listen to your body, get plenty of rest, and keep hydrated!

Makeup Of The Day

Here is what I am wearing on my face today!

I really don’t think that this Loreal La Palette gets enough love and attention in the beauty community.  I really enjoy using this palette and always get compliments on my eye look whenever I use it.  The Maybelline Fit Me Foundation is another one that I absolutely love.  It always makes my skin look so flawless without looking heavy or cakey.  I use both this crown brush and the real techniques one every day.

Tip Tuesday #34

Here is another tip for Tip Tuesday!

If you have been around Looking Joli Good for any amount of time, you know that I love long lashes!  I never wear false lashes, mostly because the thought of putting glue next to my eyes makes me feel grossed out.

While there are so many great lash-pumping mascaras on the market, you don’t need to spend a ton of money on one of them. Instead, after applying your first coat of mascara quickly dust some translucent powder onto your lashes. Apply a second coat of mascara over the powder and be amazed at how full your lashes look!
