Don’t Change
So many times we try to be what we think others want us to be instead of being who we truly are!

Don’t know where to start when shopping for healthier food options at the grocery store?
Shop the perimeter.
Eating healthy doesn’t have to begin and end at the farmers’ market (although that is a good place to shop :-)).

Grocery stores have plenty to offer. You just need to know what to look for. Convenience and healthy can be in the same place.
Most whole, natural foods are on the outside aisles of grocery stores. Think about where you shop for food. The perimeter is where the produce, dairy, and meat sections usually are.

As you go deeper into the center of the store, you encounter more processed and packaged food.
Start shopping for foods that don’t have labels. The fresher the food you eat the better you will feel.

So my beauty friends, who knows the struggle of wanting to cut all your hair off yet wanting to grow it out at the same time?! I have gotten to the point where I need something new! I know so many of you have been hair before too. (I am so punny, I know:-))
I have very straight thin somewhat oily hair (meaning I wash it every day or look like a hot mess.) Oh, and did I forget to mention the crazy cowlicks, yeah, I have a bunch of them too!
I have had a similar hair cut for several years now. I tend to wear my hair in some form of a graduated bob that is medium short, just between the chin and shoulders, with medium length side swept bangs.

I am not complaining about the style that I wear it in now, I think that it looks good on me and is so easy to do. I just feel like I am wanting something different…

In college, (15ish years ago) I kept my hair quite short and layered in a pixie cut. It was very easy to do and manage while living in humid Florida, and also had to wear a nursing cap while at clinical in the hospital. (I am not even kidding!).

Like every bride, I had planned to grow out my hair for my wedding, but my husband prefers my hair shorter, so I cut it a few months before we got married and wore it curled half up and half down.

I really liked my hair at this length. I think that it was very manageable and didn’t look too thin.

This above photo is from around 11 years ago. I had been growing out my hair for about 11 months at this point. Also, look at that tan! We had just come back from a vacation to California.

As you can tell from the above photo, the growing out process went very well…maybe a bit too well. My hair thrived while I was pregnant with my son, it quickly grew so thick and so long! Unfortunately, as with many women, once I had my son, my hair started falling out like crazy! About 9-10 months after my son was born I cut my hair into a medium length bob.

About 4 years ago, I decided that I wanted to cut my hair much shorter again. I also switched the side I part my hair on, and cut side swept bangs. I think this length might be considered a long pixie cut. The shorter my hair is the thicker it looks. While I did really like my hair like this, it required a lot of upkeep with constant haircuts and I had to style it every day.

This past summer I cut thicker bangs and wore them a bit less side swept. I do like shorter bangs, but they require a lot of upkeep. Also, bangs are kinda like avocados, they are only perfect for such a short amount of time.

Despite this being a picture from last Easter, this is how my hair is usually styled: graduated bob medium short between the chin and shoulders with medium/long length side swept bangs.
I’m not sure what I am planning to do next. I may grow it out for a bit… end up with hair down to my waist again (my husband is not a fan of that, so probably not), I may cut it into a pixie cut again. We’ll see.

What? It is March and I am just posting my February ipsy glam bag! I got this ipsy bag mid February, and then left for vacation a few minutes later (of course I took a bunch of photos of it first, haha). I had such an amazing vacation and completely forgot to write a post about my ipsy.
February’s theme is “Much Love”

(If you don’t know what ipsy is you can check out my previous post all about it by clicking HERE)
If you follow me on Instagram you already saw my February bag.
This month’s bag is super cute! The material is jean with orange cording around the edge and a lip shaped zipper pull. This time my son took one look at it and said “It’s mine!” His favorite color is orange, so I let him have it.

This brand’s formulas are completely vegan and packed with good-for-your-skin, natural ingredients. The minty scent is nice and refreshing. I have been using this since I got it and have really enjoyed the way it makes my skin feel. I have received a few other products from BeFine and, so far, I really like this brand overall.

Matte bronzers always look more natural than shimmery ones. It has a really nice neutral brown shade and feels soft and silky, but seriously Could this bronzer sample be any smaller? Trying to use this on my face will take me forever! I think I will use it as an eyeshadow. Possibly it could make a nice transition shade…

I have never heard of this brand before? Have any of you? When I first saw this I thought, just what I need another tiny coral blush sample, but I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it is a beautiful highlighter.
This peachy pink powder can be used as a highlighter or an eye shadow, or even dabbed on lips. I have been enjoying it so far this month. I feel like it gives a great glow without being too over the top. I like to wear highlighter, but I prefer it to be a more subtle glow from within than a ba-bam in your face highlight.

I have mentioned before that I both love and hate getting brushes in my ipsy bags. I have gotten some awesome brushes that I use on a daily basis, and then I have gotten some that I have never used. I have a few Luxie brushes and I enjoy them. This one is super soft and the bristles are vegan, synthetic, and cruelty-free. They call this a blush brush, but I don’t know…I haven’t decided yet how I am going to use it…I also haven’t used it yet that isn’t really a good sign.

“Right now this satin finish is our goldilocks texture. Glossy is too much. Matte isn’t doing the trick. But this is just right!
These are so insanely creamy that there’s no need to use a lip balm beforehand.
Ripe Berry is a totally approps name; the hue (which has cool, purple undertones) reminds us of crushed raspberries.
When I first saw this lipstick I thought, great another bright red lipstick in a shade I will never wear. Then I put it on… I was shocked by how much I love it! I am so picky with the formula of lipsticks that I will wear. This one is smooth and glossy and comfortable. It doesn’t dry out my lips at all and wears off evenly. This is the only lipstick that I brought on vacation with me and I wore it the entire time we were away. It also leaves a bit of a stain on my lips. I will definitely be purchasing more of these Butter lipsticks from NYX.

I love everything that I got in this month’s bag! I am so happy with everything (even the tinee tiny bronzer)!

Did you get a glam bag this month? What did you get in yours? Were you happy with your samples? Do you get any other monthly subscription bags/boxes that are worth trying out? Let me know in the comments below.

Finding your undertones is the first step you should take
While the color of your skin may change, the color of your undertones will not. Finding your undertones is the first step in figuring out what shade of foundation and shades of makeup you should be wearing. It will also help you to determine if you are choosing the correct colors of clothing.
If you don’t know your undertones, here are a few ways that can help you determine what your skin’s undertones are…
Look at the inside of your wrist. What is the main color of your veins? Generally, they will look either blue/purple if you are cool toned or green/olive if you are warm toned. If you are neutral, the veins will be both blue/purple and green. (That’s me, both purple and green veins)

If you want to read a little more about how to figure out what your undertones are you can read my post about it called What Is Your Undertone?

Colossians 3:13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
Matthew 6:14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
Luke 17:3-4 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. 4 And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.

I drink a lot of water! It is easy for me to get enough water in each day because I don’t even think about it, I have made it a habit.
Maybe you don’t have a habit of drinking water so you have a hard time remembering to drink water.
One of my tips for increasing water consumption is every time you go to the bathroom drink a full 8-ounce glass of water before you leave.
This habit will create a cycle, the more water you drink the more trips you will take to the bathroom, the more water you will drink. Before you know it you will be used to drinking water and will have created a new habit.

Also, here is an interesting fact, when I worked in the hospital taking care of patients on fluid restriction, the Drs would always say to take all the straws out of the patient’s room.
Drinking out of a straw causes people to drink 30% more. So, stick a straw in your water and you will drink more without even realizing it.
Don’t wait until you feel thirsty to take a drink of water. Most likely by that point you are already slightly dehydrated.
