Tips and Tricks

Tip Tuesday #25

Here is another tip for Tip Tuesdays…

Tip Tuesday: Make up tips and tricks every Tuesday | lookingjoligood.wordpress.com

If you have sad straight eye lashes like I do, there is hope and this tip is for you!

Personally, my super straight eyelashes will curl beautifully… only to become super straight and very sad again as soon as I apply mascara.

This is what my eyelashes look like before I curl them.

Problem solved by only using waterproof mascara.  While that is a great tip that I learned from Wayne Goss, that isn’t actually this weeks tip….

Great Lash mascara is a cult classic for a reason!

Some mascara formulas are awesome in the regular version and terrible in the waterproof version.  So, when I want to use a regular non waterproof mascara, but also want my lashes to stay curled, I first apply a thin layer of waterproof mascara concentrating at the roots of my lashes, then using the regular non waterproof mascara I apply a second and third (sometimes even a fourth) coat of mascara.  This keeps the curl to my lashes while still being able to get the benefits of whichever regular mascara I want to use.

  1. I had the exact same problem.. I ended finding some mascaras that are heavy duty but are not water proof and they hold incredibly well!
    1. They re real (Benefit)
    2. Perversion (Urban Decay)
    3. Better than sex (too faced) this one is actually waterproof for the beach and the sorts

All three will hold the entire day.
My trick is to curl them with the Shu Uemura lash curler (made for japanese straight hair so perfect for rebel lashes) and then apply one layer of any of the above. Let dry, apply powder all over my make up including the lashes, reCURL again and then apply another layer. Sometimes if several hours go by I just curl them again over the mascara.
You only can do this if your curler is really good, some of them could damage your lashes but this is one is perfect. 🙂

  2. I wish this was the solution to my problem! I can’t wear waterproof mascaras too often because they often sting my eyes when I wear them for too long. 😦
